Chapter 6

Mumbai, Maharashtra

"How long will the papers take to get verified? And what about the permission?" A man spoke with his firm but an already irritated voice.

"Sir, we are trying our best. But after the Kukreja incident, things are not going smoothly. I hope you...." Before the man on the opposite side could complete his sentence a gun came out in front of him. Looking at the pointed death threat he gulped down a large amount of his saliva to speak something positive. But as a result of his fear, nothing came out easily.

"I don't care about the incident that had happened or would happen in the future. I want the result as soon as possible. His husky voice echoed through the room making the remaining people scared like shit.

Moving the gun away he stood up from the position to leave the room. Before exiting the room, another question hit those men sitting there again.

"Who else is there for this same project?" Turning his face when he asked, one man immediately started going through a file like a maniac.

"Not many, but Banshali and Danger are in the race."

"It would be taken care of." A smile appeared on his face when the rest of the men remained silent and he left the room.

Once he left, the room fell completely silent as nobody dared to open their mouth for a few seconds. Once they confirmed his final exit hearing the roaring sound of his car, they decided to discuss the matter.

"He came here alone and threatened us all. Don't you think we are fearing him too much?" One bald man spoke while another man sat silently looking at a file.

"Ameer, it doesn't matter whether he has come alone or not. The thing that matters is he has come and left without killing us." The man named Zaid spoke, raising his face from the file.

"Haven't seen him much as mostly his brother used to be involved in such cases," Ameer spoke again.

"He was in Germany. His brother takes care of the business in India. This project costs millions so he decided to join hands with his brother." Zaid spoke while another man named Abhi looked confused at the same time.

"Zaid, Kukreja's office was sealed, right? How come Banshali's are taking over the company?" Abhi spoke, confused.

"Yeah, I have seen that too. Not sure, but he somehow got it at a cheap price. Maybe that's why he is interested in a barge in the same project with R.R. groups." Zaid said as he was also not sure of the entire game.

Zaid, Abhi, and Ameer were into illegal and legal businesses. Starting from promoting to bribing government agents to pass a construction plan, they could carry forward a lot of things swiftly.

Mumbai has several gangs and they were none other than from the underworld. They had officials under them also, either being threatened or being bribed.

"Zaid, something is wrong with Kukreja's case. Wasn't that the same project that R.R. groups wanted to take up?" Ameer initiated the conversation again.

"Yes. Look, Ameer, these businessmen know how to pull the strings. Do you think the Underworld runs so easily? Where does the political funding come from?"

"Of course I know. Remember A party, the major funding was carried by the Singhania group." Zaid tried to bring out more bare truths.

"Not exactly Singhania. Behind them, another group was also there who kept their face hidden. Leave it, man. What's the point of bothering? Just get these lands clear and close the deal with R.R. groups."

Ameer closed a file and walked towards the door and lit a cigarette. He was making ring after ring when Abhi finished his call and extended his hand to grab a counter of the cigarette.

"What did they say?" Looking at Abhi's face, Ameer asked the most common question.

"This Rajveer Malhotra, he has become too famous after that Kukreja case. Few government agents are refusing to give clearance, being scared of his actions now." Abhi puffed the cigarette and returned to Ameer.

"How about buying him? Anyhow he is just a criminal lawyer. Since when did he start putting his nose in real estate?"

"Maybe he is thinking about expanding his father's real estate business more. After all, it would be easy to eliminate rivals for Vinayak Malhotra with the help of his son."

"Vinayak is nothing but another predator. I heard that he has been planning to join politics." Zaid raised his voice from the other side of the corner.

"Why not. His secret funding for the ruling party is no longer secret." Abhi let out a dry chuckle.

"I heard about the marriage of Rajveer and Suhani. How many lawyers does Vinayak want?" Zaid laughed looking at Abhi and Ameer.

"Enough to win every case. I wonder why Sudhir let his younger daughter pursue something apart from the law. I bet if Rajveer had a brother, Sudhir's second daughter would have been married to him only."

Three of them broke into a huge laugh when Zaid added again.

"Rane's older daughter Suhani, Mashallah, is a very beautiful and perfect man. I am Jealous of that fucking lawyer Rajveer now."

Madhban Mansion, Mumbai

"Suhani Rane, what a wastage of everything." A man growled looking at the supplementary section of the newspaper while having his morning coffee.

"Whom are you cursing in the morning, son." An old man joined the table while looking at his son's face.

"None. Just going through the newspaper. The supplementary or main page, at least once in a week, there would be at least a news on these two shit pieces of this earth." His irritation was clear and so were his venomous words.

"I understand your equation with Rajveer. I am sure he is giving you a hard time indirectly with the clearance of the land. But why are you cursing the girl?" His father winked at his son to make his mood lighten.

"I am not cursing. She is just..... I don't know...." He couldn't gather any such language or parameter to describe his negative approach.

"She is a nice girl by the way. She topped the bar council this year. Vinayak is getting two lawyers in the house." Before his father could continue more both of them heard another voice coming from the distance.

"And you are having two handsome devils in your house." A man while standing near the door spoke and came running towards the dining table where both the father and son were previously seated.

"Bhai.............. " He came running towards the man who stood up from his chair with open arms. Before he could hug him, his brother immediately awarded him with a punch on his guts.

"Dickhead. I traveled back from Germany for you. And coming here I got to know that you went to Goa to have fun with girls. What the hell is this Adi."

Adi or Adarsh Madhban who was still processing the pain of the punch he had just received from his brother, looked with his puppy eyes towards his brother.

"You are such a bad brother. Bhai dad is here. What are you saying about girls?" He winked at his older brother who seemed to be unbothered with his words.

"Yes. Dad must know what type of shit you have become." He gave a hard glare to his younger brother.

Adarsh expected a tight hug from his brother seeing him expanding his arms for an open hug. But the moment he reached his territory he was awarded a punch.

"Ani, take care of him. I am leaving now. The more I would stay between you too, the more I would get a headache." Saying so, their father moved away, keeping both of his sons near the dining table. He knew his sons were better. Adarsh gave a tight hug to his father before his father's departure whereas Anirudh grabbed Adarsh by his ears and pulled him near the table to make him sit.

"What the hell have you done Adi? Did you threaten the promoting agent?" Anirudh was clear on his track.

"Not exactly but yes. He was creating a fuss and was more interested in Banshali's suggestion." Adarsh replied in a not-so-concerned tone while munching the toast from his brother's plate.

"Are you offended by that?" Adarsh added again.

"Yes, I am. Because you should have killed that bastard instead of threatening him. You need to remove the throne if it is causing you pain."

Adarsh stopped munching his toast hearing those words from his brother's mouth. He was still digging his fork on the omelet to grab a bite.

"Will you stare at me or finish the toast that you are holding?" Anirudh added again. Adarsh blinked his eyes twice and started eating his breakfast again. There was no point in arguing with his brother over such matters.

The project cost millions and that was the reason his brother decided to fly back to India. No way he would allow some random person to make a profit out of it. Both the brothers were involved in it at that moment.

Once they were done with the breakfast they decided to sit together with the blueprint. Anirudh was a civil engineer so he was far better at construction. On the other hand, his brother was more into business administration. He was more mature than his younger brother who seemed to be more into girls. Anirudh gave an upper hand to Adarsh because of his young age. But Adarsh knew what sort of monster his brother was. The sleeping beast must not be awakened. It was better to let the beast sleep peacefully instead of bringing out the hell on earth.

"Bhai, I heard Sudhir is willing to join hands with Malhotras."

"Isn't that too obvious. Sudhir has two daughters and Rajveer found a perfect catch. Vinayak was always a perfect businessman. It was expected that the marriage would take place." Anirudh replied to his brother's concern.

"But it is not a business deal. Suhani loves Rajveer. I mean they knew each other from quite a young age."

Adarsh knew how marriage works in high business class. How daughters of one family get married to another family for the expansion or the collaboration. Looking from the outside, Rajveer and Suhani's marriage would look like a business deal to those who were not aware of their parents' age-old friendship. Vinayak and Sudhir were undoubtedly good friends. But the narrative was not like some deal that needed to be signed. It worked in a better way. Both of their sons and daughters found their match in each other.

Anirudh heard the rest of the story from Adarsh as he had seen them mostly as a couple being in India. But the little twitch he felt after hearing their so-called romantic story couldn't be ignored easily. The more he heard about their story, the more he felt irritated.

"Instead of researching Suhani and Rajveer's couple story, I wish you could have spent more time on this project. At least I wouldn't need to fly back to sort your matter." He was irritated seeing his brother casual and more into some gossip or spicy stories. His brother could have shut those mouths easily who dared to speak for not approving different documents. But his immaturity couldn't clear up the mess and he had to come back. He did even attend the party in Rane's mansion too on behalf of his father. And the day he saw her, he couldn't truly believe that such a girl could even exist.

"Fine Bhai. No more words on their marriage or business deal. Anyway, Suhani loves him and eventually gets married to him only. It's none of our business. We just need Rajveer away from our project. Adarsh completed his part of the sentence and concentrated on the work more not to offend his brother anymore. His engrossing mind failed to listen to what his brother just mumbled in his low tone.

"Suhani loves Rajveer. That is a problem."
