Most she-wolves always look forward to the hunt, while the ambitious ones whimsically dreamt of becoming Luna. Either way, the girls loved the festivity, the thrill, the feeling of hiding while your heart beat loudly in your ears, keeping still, until your nose catches a scent and you hear the sound of paws approaching. So no wonder how it's just twelve fifteen yet the pack house is surrounded by she wolves.
The moment Ian and the girls arrived at their destination, Antara couldn't contain herself. She was in awe of her surroundings. The pack house is just as it was when she last visited it for the annual Selene feast; elegantly reposed at the fore of the forest, eclectic, colossal and intimidating. On the other hand, her sister's assessment of her surroundings was rather flippant. Yes, she admired the mighty structure in front of her, yes, she was a fan of the beautiful field spread out on the right side of the structure -where the guards trained, of course she loved the mountains in the distance, that when viewed from the road seemed as though they were right behind the pack house. The pack house wasn't fenced neither did it have a gate, it was just there, surrounded by nature. A vertical concrete road led to it and right in front of it was the bronze statue of a scary looking wolf whose mouth will forever remain wide open showcasing harmful canines. It stood tall with it's right paw in the air. June admired all these but she's used to it.They lingered some moments longer with their dad in the car before stepping out. They sauntered to the crowd of she wolves gathered just outside the pack house. The doors weren't open yet. So everyone waited, chattering and laughing. It was during the wait that the Gilbert sisters were greeted with an unexpected brown skinned face that held a most excited grin."June!!" Palmer squealed. June gasped, short of words. How long has it been? Two years? Alas, here, right in front of her, stood her high school best friend, Palmer Holton. Palmer's plump frame gathered June in a reunion embrace. Antara joined in the embrace."June? oh my God, I'm so happy right now, look at Tara, lord, how did she get so tall?!" Palmer's lashes fluttered as she blinked rapidly. Her dark brown hair fell in waves that framed her round face."I must say Palmer, I never expected to see you here," June stated.Palmer chortled, "You can't blame me, I got so tired and bored of being single, I had to help myself."Antara giggled, such a pitchy yet genuine sound it was, "While I had to force June to help herself!""Nah, June is an independent woman, ever contended with herself."June shook her head, "And your not, huh?"♧♧♧A blond, slender figure clad in a red exotic dress and jewellery to match, strode alongside Jason in the direction of the underground dungeon out back."Let them in and have the servants serve them in the big room," Jason instructed, his hands in his pockets."And the males?" The lady asked."The den, serve them in the den."The lady nodded and halted, in order to go back and carry out her alpha's orders."I trust you can handle things Almira, I'll be right back."His jet black footwear made clicking noises with the marble floor until he was outside. He advanced towards the cabin at the backyard where George was waiting for him."Finally," George commented while leading the way, "They both haven't said a word since I got them. William said they're names are Timon and Zack, apparently he's met them before." He pulled open a door on the floor of the cabin, revealing a stairway that led underground. "So what are you going to ask them?""Nothing, for now, I just want to see them."And that he did, the moment he got to the end of the stairway, walked the dimly lit corridor between two rows of empty and occupied cells till he got to cell B17. Both rogues were locked up in the same cell. They looked awfully calm and composed. William dutifully introduced them to Jason and Jason observed them. Timon had black hair that was spiky, his sunken black eyes gave him a grave look and he's cheekbones were over pronounced. He was tall, but taller not Jason. Zack however, was a short, sturdy, bald man. So bald his head shone. His eyes seemed too big for his head and his lips chapped. A golden stud glinted on both earlobes."Gorah probably sent them." Jason mumbled.George nodded, "I think so too."Alpha Gorah Timbers, ruler of the rogue pack nearest to the Eclipse.Jason said nothing to the rogues, just assessed them and ambled away. Next stop, he's mother's chambers.Regina was busy writing in her journal when she heard the knock on the door. She knew who was on the other side of the door and she uttered a soft 'come in' but she didn't stop writing. Her paragraphs an indecipherable mess. She never went to school so fifty percent of her spellings were wrong. The sentences a tight chain of capital and small letters. She was on her bed, a pillow on her lap, her journal on the pillow. Her sleek black hair fell over face as her neck was angled downward. She didn't look up till Jason uttered a soft; "mother,""Son," She is a pretty woman in her mid-fifties, with a subtle smile that didn't reach her sky blue eyes, eyes that radiated loneliness. She still grieved over Bennett. She tapped the bed beside her for her son to come sit.Jason sat, "How are you?""I look good, don't I?"Jason nodded."Tell me you've had breakfast"Jason smiled warmly, "I have."A moment of silence passed, then;"Any progress?" She asked, referring to the on-going investigation. She seldom interfered in the investigation but the few times she did, Jason was ever ready to fill her in.He began with a sigh, "Not really, intact I see no progress in sight. I fear we may never find father's murderers. They left zero clues, but we won't stop trying. By tomorrow we will pay Alpha Gorah a visit.""Why?" Her eyes held his."George caught two members of his pack trespassing. We suspect he sent them.""Do you think their trespassing has anything to do with the murder?""Honestly, I don't know. But I'll definitely have a chat with them.""You should let them go if they have nothing to do with the murder?""And how would we know if they have anything with the murder or not? We can't take their word for it."Regina searched her son's eyes, no, she was trying to read them. He was sounding like her late mate and she didn't like it. But she let it slide. And when he leaves, she'll pray, she'll pray to the moon goddess for her son, that he finds his mate, and that she'll be loving, obedient, and intelligent, that she'll be a perfect companion for her son, she'll love her son, she'll assist him, she'll help maintain order and unity in the pack.Silence enveloped the room for several minutes. But Jason later broke it, "On a scale of one to ten mother, how much do you miss father?"She smiled, "fifty!" She said without missing a beat. "He was my mate, I feel empty without him.""He was a complicated man though,""Still, he was my mate, sure I didn't always understand him," she had this dreamy look in her eyes as she spoke."Nobody did,""George did, despite their many fights.""Remember that time he had George thrown into the dungeon?" Jason said with an amused glint in his eyes.Regina couldn't help but laugh. Her laughter was short and light. "But then you intervened... you know, that was the day I knew you would make a perfect alpha."Jason tried not to snort at that. He hasn't even been alpha for more than two weeks and he was already falling apart. How perfect!"I hope you're enjoying your stay here so far?" Retha's velvety voice caused June's eyes to snap towards her direction. She was Horace's beta, a young woman with Auburn hair and a welcoming smile. She was sitted across the table from June. The table that had the capacity to hold fifteen people but now only nine people sat around it for dinner.Jason swallowed beside her, "Yes, yes we are." He returned her smile briefly before going to back to the plate of rice in front of him. Dinner was sumptuous as fuck. The candle lights gleaming from the centre of the table flickered and that somehow called her attention to Horace who was seated at the head of the table. His eyes were down at his plate, only lifting when the fork in his hand lifted to his mouth. His eyes found hers, she wanted to look away but didn't want to appear intimidated by his black pools of mystery. He seemed like the type to take pleasure in intimidating people, so no, she didn't look away yet causing him to smirk before
June stared longingly out the window that was rolled down all the way. The rapid in gush of air sweeping her chocolate locks backward. How did she even get here? Ah yes, she readily and willingly agreed to go with Jason to the Galaxia. She needed to get out of that house, away from the invisible cloud of doom looming over it, away from her nightmares. She needed to get away from the knowing(teasing) looks Regina, Antara and Almira keep throwing her way since they noticed the giant wolf hickey on her neck. She needed to get away from her dad's constant letters, she wouldn't reply nor read any of them, why couldn't he get that? She knew what they all held. It's the same old excuse; June please, try to understand, I just want to be happy. Yeah, well, okay dad. Go ahead, be happy, just leave me out of it. Most of all, she needed to get away from herself. She didn't realise it until now. Now that the shiny black BMW is cruising down a lonely gravel road, lined with fields and nothingness.
The sun hidden. The clouds casting gloomy shadows. The atmosphere smelled of fresh greenery. A knuckle tapping softly on the giant oak wood door."Come in," Jason said, escaping his own head. Beta George walked in. Looking neat, in a white button up, red suit pants and tie. "Alpha," he bowed slightly."George." Jason beamed."Too many teeth alpha, I might just lose my sight." George teased. The cheerfulness and giddiness oozing from his alpha can not be ignored. It demanded attention considering it's making a first appearance. Jason chuckled, turning away. He'd been thinking of June all morning. Of how she begged to be marked, how her eyes seemed to roll back the moment his fangs sank into her neck, how she so effortlessly took his breath away. They all kept replaying in his head, he couldn't stop them he could only escape for a bit."Anything?" He asked the blonde man grinning at him.George advanced forward, taking the seat across Jason on the desk. "Yes, here," he presented a
Here you go," Almira said, placing the wrapped rectangle in Jason's custody arm. He smiled gratefully at her, nobody knew he didn't want to be there, receiving all those cool gifts. Her's was the final gift of the evening. And as he unwrapped it to reveal a golden wristwatch with tiny precious stones embedded around the clock, he wondered what June was up to. Honestly, he couldn't wait to storm into that room and give her the scolding of her life. I get it you don't like me, you didn't know it was my birthday so obviously you don't have a gift for me but is it too much to ask that you be here while I received these gifts? "Thank you so much, Almira. It's nice, I love it."Richards pouted, deciding at that moment to say something Jason wasn't really in the mood for. "Nicer than my gift?"Jason looked at him. "You got me wine Richards," he stated matter of factly. "Wine you stole from the bar in my bedroom. So yes, her gift is way nicer than yours."A smooth chuckle left Richards throat
June squinted her eyes at the serene figure sitting in the distance. Was it really her mother?Long, golden locks getting mussed by the breeze.June decided to move closer to get a better look at the figure sitting on the prickly grass. Warm ocean eyes smiled back at her It was indeed her mother. "Mom?" Her eyes suddenly felt watery, "how...what...what are you doing here mom?..." The questions were endless but her mother was answering none, just smiling at her. Her slender fingers running through the green grasses. The peace radiating off of her like waves brought more tears to June's eyes.June let them spill, unable to hold them in. "I've missed you so much, mom." June sniffled, walking closer. "I...I don't know how you got here, or how I got here but I don't care, I'm....I'm just so happy to see you mom. I miss you mom," the tears came faster, "so so much. Why'd you go mom? Why didn't you just take me with you? Mom I..." June stopped mid sentence, standing just a feet away from
After retrieving their clothes from where they'd kept it folded neatly beside a tree trunk, they walked silently back to the pack house. "Pass the milk please," Antara chirped, while spreading the peanut paste unto a slice of bread. The breakfast table was heavily garnished and the aroma of tea filled the air."More salad?" Almira was standing behind Regina's seat asking if she needed more salad, her blond hair was curled into itself in a very messy bun.Regina looked up, "there you two are!" She said referring to Jason and June standing awkwardly at the entrance. "Sit, have breakfast." She assessed their dripping wet hairs and rumpled clothes."Hmm, morning sex in the lake," Richard smirked before nudging Antara by his side, "we should try that sometime." She blushed crimson, June almost did too while Almira balked at her twin, half restraining herself from flinging the salad bowl in his direction. Regina tried to hide her discomfort before saying, "Unfortunately it didn't end with
