Nikolai’s POV

I was having quite a day, but nothing could have prepared me for the death stare daggers I was getting from my sweet wife, Sophia.

Her eyes pierced right through me, and I have to admit, I was a little turned on by it.

“Do I want to know what I did wrong now?” I asked with a sigh as I walked toward my angry wife.

It was fun having a wife. Just ten minutes ago, I was ready to bash my security guards’ heads in for not doing their jobs right, and now I was feeling all soft inside at

  • His To Have And To Loathe   Chapter Thirty-Four

Sophia’s POVI hadn't stopped thinking about Petra and the words that came out of her mouth. Was I falling in love with him? That was impossible. It had to be.Yet, I found myself reminiscing about every single time his lips had touched mine.I felt his touch a thousand times all over my body like his hands had never left. What was happening to me? I thought to myself as I let the shower water run over me. I had been in the shower for a while now; it was the best place to do all my thinking, and with any luck, I wouldn't have to see Niko tonight.Maybe he would stay down in his study and go back to avoiding me. I wrapped a towel around my body as I got out of the shower. I stepped out of the bathroom, rubbing my wet hair against the towel.I wasn't looking when I bumped into something hard. I looked up in shock to find Niko standing right in front of me, shirtless.“Will you watch where you're going?” I yelled at him as I kissed my teeth.“Jeez Louise, calm down.” “Don't tell m

Sophia’s POVI always had a weird feeling about Petra, and boy was I right. However, she looked pissed. Not as pissed as Nikolai was when he sent Petrov out to summon Petra. She stood in the middle of Nikolai’s office with one hand on her hip, staring at him like he had done the most unimaginable thing. She didn't look nervous or even guilty. She looked angry, and that made me trust her even less. She was most definitely hiding something. But what? “Petrov said my name?” She asked slowly.Nikolai leaned back in his chair, and I relaxed on the couch, enjoying the show.“That's what I said.” He responded sternly.Petra let out a scoff as she flipped her hair elegantly to the back. “And that's all you needed to drag me in here like I'm some sort of criminal?”I almost let out a laugh. Was that her way of getting out of this? I expected more, maybe more sweet-talking and less defensiveness.I sat as quietly as I could on the couch, pretending not to notice the haughty glares Petra kept

  • His To Have And To Loathe   Chapter Thirty-Two

Nikolai’s POV“That's not right.” I vehemently said.Sophia looked up from the laptop and directly at me, her eyes carrying a hint of sadness.“Niko...”“No.”I slammed the laptop shut. There was no way Petrov was the mole. Some things didn't add up, and I was ready to question everyone, but he wasn't one of them. Not in a billion years would I doubt Petrov’s loyalty. He worked for my father. He had sat at our table and stayed long after my father died, even when being associated with the Lev name meant nothing anymore. And now I was supposed to believe he had been stealing from me and possibly leaking information to Moretti, of all people.Bullshit. I call bullshit.“Maybe there's a reasonable explanation for all this,” Sophia offered. “Although that's highly unlikely. You've seen the records.”“I saw his name. That's all it is.”“Yeah, his name is attached to almost four hundred thousand dollars in suspicious payments.”“I know what I saw. No need to remind me.”“Clearly, you need r

  • His To Have And To Loathe   Chapter Thirty-One

Nikolai’s POVI was starting to regret giving my wife a job. Not because she was bad; itThat would have made things a whole lot easier for me. The problem was that Sophia Rossi, or should I say, Sophia Lev, technically, was currently sitting across from me in my office, looking way too comfortable and far too pleased with herself as she explained why the decision I had made twenty minutes ago was apparently dumb. Her words, not mine.So far so good, I was enjoying my view. A little too much.“You'll lose money if you handle things this way.” She said boldly in her little black dress. It was a little too corporate for my liking, but it was also the right amount of sexy. “I won't.” “You will.”“I've been running this business for years, Sophia.”“And apparently no one has ever told you when you're wrong.” She shrugged and paired it well with her signature eye roll.I slowly lowered the document in my hand, and I leaned back in my chair. We had been going at this for a while now.She

  • His To Have And To Loathe   Chapter Thirty

Sophia’s POVI asked him to stop, even though I desperately wanted him. I asked him to stop. That night was all I could think about. I could still feel his hand travel up my thighs when I closed my eyes, and every thought had me weak in the knees.I wanted him. I badly wanted him. So why did I ask him to stop?He had avoided dinner with me tonight, as he had all week. And it didn't help that I had to endure Petra's company tonight. She had this annoying knack of walking around like she owned the place. I would have to use my perk as Niko’s wife to get her kicked out of here. I’ve had just about enough of her snide comments.I had also had enough of Niko’s clear attempts to avoid me, which was why I was currently marching off to his office. The door was slightly ajar when I got there; I took a little peek in, and there he was. The low light crossed across the arches of his face, lighting up his jawline like he was posing for the front page of a magazine.Papers were spread across his

Nikolai’s POVI forced my focus back on the business at hand. Moretti. It was either that or drowning in thoughts of Sophia and that night. It had been three days, and she had been doing a great job of avoiding me, or maybe the reverse was the case.Every lead from the last three days pointed us in the same direction. We had a mole, someone with access to the security rotation schedules, someone who knew our every move. Someone who knew the blind spots of the mansion, and everything else in between.I tapped my fingers loudly against the table. “This isn't random. Whoever’s feeding Moretti information has the same clearance as the men who walk my perimeter.”Jack leaned against the table, arms crossed. “Or…and hear me out " He shrugged. “This person could be the woman who now roams the mansion like she owns the place.”I looked up slowly, seething. “Say that again.”He let out a sigh. “Just think about it. She's sleeping in your bed, walking the halls, and every time we talk, she's c

Sophia's POV“My love,” He said performatively. Clearly putting on a show for his audience of one, Petra. I put on a fake smile, knowing I had to also play along to whatever this was.“Hi, baby…” I said softly, and a flicker of curiosity flashed in his eyes. He could probably tell how rusty I was

Niko's POVI leaned back, taking all my plans in. Tonight was the night. Except my best friend and right-hand man, Jack, thought it was a dumb idea.“The Rossi girl?” He was standing right across from me. We never did see eye to eye on anything. It was a wonder how we managed to stay best friends a

Sophia's POVSleeping in this bed…in this house, with the enemy was one of the hardest things I had to do.Every time I closed my eyes, all I saw was Nikolai’s face, and all I could hear was his voice haunting my every thought. Niko's POVShe stared at me like she was a deer caught in headlights. The poor thing had no idea what she had just gotten herself into.“You can’t be serious.” She sprinted out of her seat. I could hear her breathing. Hard. “First, you point a gun at my father’s head because, according to you, he k
