All Chapters of His To Have And To Loathe: Chapter 1 - Chapter 10

Sophia's POV“Sophia, sit.” My father muttered. I could smell the alcohol on his breath. A bad habit that became worse after mum died. “Dad…what’s wrong?” He didn’t say a word. He just carried on circling the living room like there was a fire somewhere. His bloodshot eyes darted out the windows every few seconds like he was searching for something no one else could see.“Dad, you’re scaring me.”“Sit. Now.” I flinched as I sat on the edge of the worn-out couch. He slammed his clenched fist into his open palm. Again, and again, and again.“He’s coming for me.” His voice cracked. “I know he is.” My stomach dropped. “Who’s coming for you?”“I’ve done things, Sophia. Things I can’t take back.”I got up slowly, careful not to startle him. “Dad, it’s okay. No one’s coming. Just breathe…” “You need to leave. Right now. Take the car and go.” For a nanosecond, his eyes seemed clear, and I caught a glimpse of the man I once knew. “I’m not leaving you.” His face fell. “I can’t lose you, to

Niko's POVShe stared at me like she was a deer caught in headlights. The poor thing had no idea what she had just gotten herself into.“You can’t be serious.” She sprinted out of her seat. I could hear her breathing. Hard. “First, you point a gun at my father’s head because, according to you, he killed your father.” She said that part in air quotes as she paces frantically.“Then…you want me to give you a child…As some kind of payment or payback? I don’t even know which.”“Maybe a bit of both.” I enjoyed watching her as she had a meltdown, so I sat back and relaxed.“You’re insane if you think I would ever sleep with you. Let alone have your child.” She was feisty, I liked that about her, but it was also giving me a headache. Her deep blue eyes darkened, and I couldn’t help but notice that even with sweatpants on and her hair up in a messy bun, she had the most striking features.Perfect for my offspring, if you ask me.“It’s simple, Soph.” I started.“Sophia.” She bit my head off im

Niko's POV I leaned back, taking all my plans in. Tonight was the night. Except my best friend and right-hand man, Jack, thought it was a dumb idea. “The Rossi girl?” He was standing right across from me. We never did see eye to eye on anything. It was a wonder how we managed to stay best friends and now partners in this brutal world of ours. “You can’t be seriously thinking of marrying her?” I swirled my glass of whiskey with a smile on my face. I was dead serious. “You’re invited.” I said as I took a sip, “I would have asked you to be my best man, but we’re skipping all that bullshit.” Jack let out a disgruntled sigh. “Niko.” He chided, “This is a crazy move, even for you. Do you really think forcing her down the aisle is the best way to get revenge?” My hands tightened hard against the glass, “This is not just about revenge anymore.” I slammed the glass down on the table. “Her father was the gun. But the man…the man who ordered the hit on my father is still alive, Valentino Mo

Sophia's POVI knew men like Nikolai.Mafia bosses with a knack for risking their lives and the lives of everyone around them, no matter the cost. I hated men like him.I paced back and forth in what I could only describe as an overrated master bedroom. I was in his bedroom, not by choice. Just like our sham of a wedding wasn't by choice either.Jack had basically tossed me in here; you would think the bedroom had bulletproof doors or something to keep me away from whatever messed-up trouble Niko had gotten himself into. For a second, I wondered if he was okay, but then I quickly killed the thought. Why should I care if he gets himself killed?I had been pacing for about an hour when the bedroom door swung open. Nikolai stormed in, his jaw clenched and his fingers fidgeting at the collar of his shirt."What the hell was that?" I demanded."Not right now." He muttered, barely looking at meHe walked away from me and into his extravagant walk-in closet. "Yes, right now!" I followed hi

Sophia's POVIf anyone had told me years ago that my future would include being married to a psycho mafia boss, I would have laughed in their face and called them all sorts of crazy.I still remember the day I graduated from college like it was yesterday. I thought I had my whole life ahead of me. I had gotten an offer from a prestigious finance firm. I mean, it was no Goldman Sachs, but it was a pretty big deal getting an offer straight out of school. Then it all came crashing down one night. I had gotten a call about my father's accident; he had been drinking and driving. It was pretty bad. The rest, as they say, is history. I quit my first big girl job before I even got the chance to start. I moved back home to take care of dad, and all my hopes and dreams began to fade away slowly.I would daydream about being married to a six-foot-five man in finance, but I got a six-foot-five criminal instead. I groaned as I rolled in bed. All night, I had secluded myself in the far end of the
