Soon, Ava set the table and everyone was seated except Adrian Lester. He soon descended the stairs in a blue designer suit and a custom made leather shoes.
His facial looks were charming with his usual well treated comb over hairstyles and scruffy beard. His sharp penetrating grey eyes added to his handsomeness. Ava glanced at him briefly and quickly looked away. Adrian Lester is cute and that is not something one can argue about. But his heart seemed ugly. He is tall with a perfect physique that portrays him as someone who does a lot of work out. As Adrian Lester took his place at the dinning, Ava served him his sobering up soup but he tossed it aside and called “Ms, Alice” Everyone was surprised that he called Ms. Alice. If he wants anything, he could just say it and Ava will get it for him. But then, they all waited to know why he called the cook. Ms. Alice came over quickly and Adrian asked “the next time I requested a sobering up soup, bring it to my room. And ensure you are the one, not just anyone else” he instructed and waved his hand to her to leave. Not just anyone else? There isn't anyone present who doesn't know who those words were referring to. Ava,bowed her head and wouldn't want to raise it up, to avoid the tears from sipping out of her eyes. “Good morning everyone” Adrian Lester said, ignoring the awkwardness in the air. Whoever is not comfortable with his words, could take their miserable self out of the Lester family. “Good morning Adrian and happy two years wedding anniversary” grandfather Lester chimed, looking from Adrian to Ava and smiling broadly. It's already been two years and they are still married. Despite the odds, the resistance and the refusal from Adrian's side, 24 months have passed and Leon’s daughter is still with his grandson. “Thank you grandfather” Ava appreciated, raising her head and glancing at her grandfather. She stole a glance at Adrian and his penetrating eyes transfixed her to a spot and she shivered. Quickly she looked away and composed herself again. She's really scared of this man. How can she imagine he was that soft man who thrusted her hard last night and moans out in pleasure? “Happy anniversary Adrian and Ava” Richard Lester congratulated them. What can he do, the marriage has come to stay and there's no turning back. “Thank you fa…” Ava was going to appreciate her father when Adrian's hoarse voice interrupted her in a pitch that indicates he is not interested in what his father said. “Today I will be finalising the partnership with the board of trustees of the Mayor's group. And I think that calls for celebration father” Adrian interjected. His tone was arrogant and his sharp keen eyes were fixed on Ava as if he was passing a warning to her. The latter sighed softly and suddenly felt uncomfortable. But she dare not excuse herself if she doesn't want Anna Lester to skin her alive. “That is amazing. It's a two sided celebration Adrian. Your wedding anniversary and the business collaboration. Shouldn't we throw a party?” Richard Lester suggested. Anna pouted her lips. She knows how Adrian will take it, it's an automatic no for the party section. Others can wish them anniversary, but definitely not her. What she has here is a maid whose fortune has brought her to share a table with her and not a daughter in-law. How can she have something like this for a daughter in-law? Was she cursed that the only child she'd have should end up with something like this and called it a wife? She's just waiting patiently for Adrian to bring up the word ‘divorce’ and she'll take it up from there. She'd expected to have such a beautiful woman as Lola as her daughter in-law. She'd been Adrian's girlfriend for a few years until this trash suddenly sprout out from the gutters and splitted them apart. Lola has travelled out of New Jersey and hasn't returned since then. She hopes she returns and accepts Adrian. This is not his fault at all, it was his grandfather's fault and his father didn't help matters at all by staying neutral about it. “No party, and nothing worth celebrating. When I take over the affairs of the Mayor's group, we'll throw a party” Adrian declared. No matter what happens, he would never be in support of any celebration that day. His grandfather had turned the day sour for her. “What about your anniversary…” grandfather Lester was saying when Adrian interrupted him quietly “My girlfriend is back, Lola is in town and I'm going to reinstate my relationship with her. And I don't want you to feel surprised if you suddenly hear the news of our engagement on social media” he announced. “Wow..Lola is back?” Anna asked, her facial expression changed and she suddenly wore a broad smile. “When did she return!” Richard asked, holding back himself from expressing his excitement. When Lola left, Adrian became an introverted man. He loves her only and not Ava Leon. “Yes mother, she's back. She returned yesterday at noon and we were together for the rest of the day” Adrian informed. The rest of the day obviously includes at night. Lola kept herself for him over the years and she gave him her return gift, her virginity. He still doesn't know how she did it and sneaks away before dawn. It's obviously because she'd always been afraid of grandfather. She must have left before anyone wakes up and grandfather starts reminding her of her dignity as a woman to be frolicking around with someone else's husband. Those lines of words eventually caused their breakup and she left him and travelled out. Now that she's back, she would be avoiding coming in contact to his grandfather. He also will act dumb about it. There is no need to talk about it or ask the security guards about how they let her leave without raising a fuss about it. Ava's body stiffened at Adrian's words. Engagement? Social media? He was going to get engaged to that woman while they were still married? “Do you know you are legally married to Ava Leon?” Grandfather Lester yelled, hitting his fist on the dinning table in fury. How can Adrian say such words before his wife and think she would be alright with it? They are legally married and he owns his body to her alone. She's from a humble background doesn't make her less a human, nor can her rights be taken away from her. “I am not married to this tramp surnamed Leon. She's not my wife. Whatever reason keeps her in this family was solely your responsibility and I can't ruin my life and happiness because of that, grandfather” Adrian Lester seethed. “Are you crazy Adrian?” Grandfather Lester yelled. His complexion has gone reddened and he was really furious this time. He fixed his gaze on Adrian in fury that Ava shivered at the compression of the aura in the atmosphere. “I hate this woman here, for standing in the way of me and my love. I hate her and I will not accept her as my wife. Lola Carrero is the woman I love and will get married to” Adrian blurted. Only now, did Ava realise the true meaning of a Lion can only begat a Cub…Jimmy's action pacified the entire family but not Simon Blake. This girl called him by his full name and that's a humiliation on its own. How can she be so disrespectful? “You talk to father that way, you called him by his full name and rebuffed his final decision on your stupidity? How dare you humiliate my father this way?”Jimmy declared. Without another word, he pulled Magda by her wrist and took her into the bedroom. He shut the door and bolted it from within and forced her against the wall painfully? “You suddenly became senseless because you are pregnant. You're not the first person to be pregnant in this family but your pregnancy has succeeded in turning you into a maniac. He pressed himself against her to the wall and pinned her chin with his fingers, making her completely powerless and unable to resist him. “I didn't force the pregnancy on you, I didn't rape you either. We made love, we were happy doing it,it pleased us both, we got satisfied and the
Adrian stood up quickly, he was going to look for her. He searched around and she'd left indeed. He dialed her cell phone but it was switched off. He sighed softly and decided he would talk to her by morning. He sighted Patrick seeing Amanda off. He waited until the latter drove off and went to meet Patrick. He saw his face glow with excitement and he smirked. “You've got yourself a new girlfriend eventually” Adrian stuttered, sounding sarcastic. He didn't expect that suddenly a woman had bonded with him and it's at grandfather's candle night. “She's a friend. Not a girlfriend in the context of your thoughts” Patrick snapped at him. What's wrong if he's been accompanied by a woman? “Whatever. It only surprises me that she sprouted out of nowhere to be by your side. And you obviously forgot that Jessica was here to keep you company at your grandfather's death…” Adrian was saying when Patrick interrupted him. “Shut it Adrian!” Patrick bellowed, his gaze unfrie
Patrick glanced at Adrian casually and looked away. No one gets really close to his mom and wouldn't fall in love with her. Maybe it's her charisma or it's simply magical. If Adrian of all people could start loving her, it only means that his mom would be on par with angels soon. Because hardly can anyone not love angels. “Luna is an amazing woman. She'd been here often these few days to check up on Father. And last night, she decided to stay up all night by his bedside when she saw his critical condition…” Richard stuttered. The women were busy, instructing the maids and supervising them. Things need to be put in order and a real touch of perfection is all they require. “Aunt Luna, we could just sit and watch. Hasn't the entire decoration been contracted out to a company already?” Aurora urged. The decorations of the mansion have been really given out to a company, now they just needed to await the beautiful work of art that would be done. Jessica kn
She'd stayed up all night by his bedside to administer his medication according to the hourly prescription. She stayed there along with his nurse. But at midnight, father opened his eyes weakly and said “You're the one here Luna?” He'd asked. Initially she'd wondered why he used those words. But then, she soon understood what he meant. “All these years, I'd always thought Anna will be by my bedside when I die,but she'd gone before me and here you are, in her place” Those were the last words of father to her. Luna sniffled and stood by the sidelines, beside her was Richard. They all were broken and for a while none could console the other. But there was something else that father said and Luna couldn't say it out loud. She'll keep it in her heart in order for her not to act selfishly. “The ambulance is waiting outside. Father's remains must be taken to the morgue” Richard informed. He would be taken there while they made preparations for his funeral.
It wasn't only Aurora who appeared to be sobbing,Clara Leon looked away hiding her tears. She pulled her hands off Aurora's grip and fetched a tissue paper. She stretched her hand and offered Aurora one and she took it, cleaning her tears too. Adrian knew both of them were sobbing, not for pains or sorrow, but for being pleased with him. He didn't mind their silent sob, he continued: “When grandfather insisted that I should marry your daughter, I thought he was being old fashioned, not considerate nor did he know the feelings of the heart. I thought I knew better but I was a fool. Grandfather was offering me my life saver and I didn't realize it. He was insisting that I hold onto an asset of an inestimable price, but I was mad at his dictates. That made me swear to never have anything to do with your daughter. I vowed to make her miserable and I swear, I did just that. But I was privileged to be given a second chance. It was late when I realised that I had hurt a
Lena hurried into the office and saw the frosty gaze of her boss, glaring at her furiously. What had she done to make him feel so furious with her? “How did this trash get in here?” He demanded, his index finger pointing to the beautiful flowers that had found itself in the trash can. “Miss Jessica brought it for you and since you're both acquaintances, I let her drop it on your desk…” Lena was explaining when Patrick yelled at her. “Do I look like I am an acquaintance of Jessica? How dare you allow that woman into my office?” His tone was filled with contempt for the one who brought the flowers. Lena couldn't find her voice to answer Patrick Connor. She saw them both together the previous day and even went to lunch together. They're not lovers but they really get together. “I'm sorry sir” Lena apologised. She didn't expect that from yesterday to that morning, their closeness had become history. Something has gone wrong and she was wondering too, why woul
