Terra

I froze. "What?"

My mate turned to face me, those beautiful grey eyes as cool as ice.

"Did I stutter?"

How could I leave? Why did he want me to leave?

"But we are mates and-"

My mate didn't let me finish before interrupting me, his expression unchanging.

"My mating ceremony is in a week and I have no intention of ditching my bride for a mere omega masquerading to be who she is not."

It was then I noticed the bottle of Allure on his bed stand. It must have worn out sometime last night or this morning revealing my natural omega scent.

There was a big misunderstanding here but all I could focus on apart from Diana's pained howls in my head was the first half of what he'd said.

"You are engaged?" My voice broke on the words but my heart shattered when he didn't deny it.

He simply flung my dress at me.

"I trust you know your way out."

Then he left the room. He just walked away.

As I approached my pack, I felt like an empty husk. A broken version of myself.

My mate might not have rejected me but he might as well have. He was going to choose another wolf to be his mate. He would touch her, mark her, mate with her.

Diana's howls of pain in my head reached a crescendo and my vision swam.

"Terra!"

I looked up to see Naya running towards me.

"I have been trying to reach you. I left you like a dozen messages."

Messages on my phone I'd forgotten in my mate's room. My mate who didn't want me.

Naya's grip on my arm brought me back to myself, her hazel eyes wide with worry.

"Terra, are you alright?"

My lips parted but I couldn't speak. I just broke down in tears and sobs.

Naya held me, her confusion apparent.

"Terra, what's wrong?"

"He… he…" I tried to speak but only more tears followed. At that point, it felt like I was only made of tears.

Couldn't one thing, just one work out for me?

"Terra, I need you to calm down," Naya said, her voice pitched low. "Whatever this is can wait, you need to leave right now."

I needed to leave?

Naya was still speaking. "It's not safe here. Eric has been spreading obscene rumours about you-"

Naya stopped speaking abruptly as we were suddenly surrounded by our pack warriors.

"Terra Morgan, you have been summoned by the Alpha." Stein, the head of our pack warriors announced.

What was going on? Just what rumors had Eric spread in retaliation for last night?

Whatever. It couldn't be worse than what I was already going through.

"You have been found to be in violation of the honor laws, and as such you have been demoted to breeder status until the pack deems you redeemed."

I stared at my Alpha unable to fully comprehend what he was saying.

The honor laws were an antiquated set of laws that few packs still held in this modern age, the Shadow Pack being one of them.

Laws that punished female wolves for 'dishonoring' their pack by losing their virginity prior to being mated or being otherwise permitted by a male member of their family.

In cases of the absence of a male in the family, the authority reverted to the Alpha of the pack.

In my case, that would be our extremely old-fashioned Alpha who had only permitted cell phones in our pack five years ago.

Becoming a pack breeder meant joining the socially ostracized clique of women who were unable to refuse any prime wolf able to impregnate them.

They were bred all year round till they took in and left alone throughout the pregnancy period then after the birth, the breeding began again.

It was a horrific fate reserved for females belonging to 'traitorous' families to encourage loyalty in the pack and it was yet another antiquated practice.

I fell to my knees silently praying no one had seen me with my mate last night as I didn't even have our mate mark to prove I hadn't violated the honor laws.

"Alpha, I have never done anything in violation of our honor laws."

Eric stepped forward, his signature sneer on his lips but the new rage in his eyes told me he hadn't forgotten about our altercation and he was going to make me pay for it.

"I saw you leave his room, whore," His nose wrinkled. "Besides you reek of Lycan."

My eyes widened in shock.

My mate was a Lycan?

I'd never met a Lycan before and while I'd noticed his different scent but I'd thought it was because of the mate bond. But if he was a Lycan… was that why my mate didn't want me?

"Alpha, please have mercy," I opted for the complete truth this time. "He is my mate, I couldn't withstand the draw of the mate bond."

My words were met with utter silence.

I raised my head to see Alpha Zane, Alpha Heir Quen, Beta Reid and Beta Heir Eric staring at me with varying degrees of disbelief playing across their faces.

Eric recovered first.

"Lies. We all know Lycans are strength-matched and rarely have true mates. An omega cannot be mated with a Lycan. She is obviously lying, Alpha."

"I am not. I-" I protested but Alpha Zane didn't let me finish.

"Enough! My decision is final. Terra Morgan is henceforth a part of the Shadow Pack's breeder." He signaled to the pack warriors standing in the back of the room. "Take her."

The warriors were at my side in seconds forcefully dragging me out of the room.

"Alpha, please," I pled. "Alpha-"

My words died on my lips as that potent scent that had me at my knees slammed into me once more.

"Take your hands off her." My mate growled and the guards at my side fell back.

I stared frozen in disbelief as the man who had tossed me aside callously mere hours ago strode into the Shadow Pack's council room, several men- Lycans at his side.

Alpha Zane moved, appearing at my side in a split second.

Then he bowed. Bowed to my mate.

"Lycan Prince Damien, what brings you to this humble pack?"

He… He was… My mate was Prince Damien?

Damien's grey eyes locked onto mine.

"I have come to claim my mate, Terra Morgan."

TerraWas that… Was she… no. No."Miranda is pregnant with my heir," Damien said, confirming my suspicions. "My heir will not be born a bastard."Nausea clogged up my throat and it felt like the world was spinning out of control around me. But more than that I was shaken as I realized what exactly Damien was telling me."You… You want to reject me." I stared at Damien waiting for him to deny it but he didn't."I have only ever cared for Miranda. You know that."I did but I still couldn't accept it. I wanted the pretence to end yet I… I couldn't let go of him."I am your MATE, Damien. Our relationship is fated, you can't just end things like this."It was sick, I knew but I wasn't sure I could live without Damien.Damien's grey eyes met mine and for a second it felt like it was only both of us in the room. Both of us and all the hurt and pain we had put each other through. For a moment, it felt like Damien was seeing me, really seeing me.Then Miranda's shaky voice cut through the tens

TerraDamien kissed me. It should have felt terrible. I should have felt nothing but revulsion but the mate bond didn't let me.He tasted like home. He tasted addictive. And as his tongue swept into my mouth, I forgot when I had parted my lips for him.Damien growled abruptly, cutting our kiss short, his lips dipping to my nape like a man on a mission, his every lick, kiss and bite so urgent that I knew he was fighting his instincts to mark me.I placed my hands on his shoulders fully intending to push him away but all I could do was tug him closer, my body soft and pliant beneath him.Tell him to stop? That would have required speech and none of the sounds I was capable of making then were intelligible. It was too much. The rough glide of his palm against my inner thighs, the feeling of his hot breath over my skin, the press of his lips, the nip of his canines.Damien pulled back and I couldn't read the look in his dark eyes."That's what I thought."My cheeks burned. Despite my init

TerraThe elder bowed deeply."I apologize, Prince Damien. Please consider-"I turned away, unable to listen to the rest of the conversation. As though if I ignored what I heard, it would make it disappear.I was getting too good at that. Ignoring things. Ignoring the side glances and hushed whispers about me at court events.Ignoring the pitiful looks my maids and guards gave me any time I tried to talk to Damien only for him to ignore me and walk away.I ignored it until I couldn't ignore it anymore."Tonight you will visit the Prince," Sophia informed me barely two days later, her eyes filled with compassion and sadness.I began to shake. Only later would I realize that it wasn't just from pain and humiliation but also rage. After almost six months of ignoring my existence, Damien wanted me to make an heir with him to secure his right to the throne.I wouldn't have gone but it was a chance to speak with Damien alone. One I hadn't gotten since coming to this palace. I couldn't waste

So damn tired."That will not be necessary," I said, standing up from my pool-sized heated bathtub."But Princess-" Sofia sounded appalled but I was already halfway back to my room, my maids covering me up with my robes and heated towels as I moved.I stopped in front of the mirror and almost didn't recognize myself. My dark brown hair was the healthiest it had ever been reaching just beneath my backside, my skin was paler but soft and pampered. But my dead tired eyes told a different story."You might as well save your strength. My mate will not look at me no matter what I look like." I said softly.I was so sick and tired of this.My bedroom went completely silent then my maids, all twelve of them, bowed, quiet censure in their voices."Princess."Right.I was Lycan Princess Terra Morgan happily mated to Lycan Prince Dam

Terra"Runt, I almost didn't recognize you. You look… different," Eric smirked, his lecherous gaze fixed on my curves. "I like it. A lot.""Please excuse me." I bowed slightly, then moved as fast as my legs could carry me. I hurried away from Eric.He was faster, his steel grip tightening around my wrist forcing me to a stop."I wasn't done talking to you, Terra." He snarled and my body began to tremble against my control.I could feel Diana trying to fight against Eric's dominance in my head but it was hopeless, I simply wasn't strong enough.Eric tugged me closer, my back to his chest, his nose in my hair and my backside firmly pressed to him. So much so that I could feel his erection.Nausea bubbled up inside me and I began to struggle against his hold in earnest."Let go of me!" I screamed, my elbows digging into Eric's ribs.Eric let go of me but before I could make my escape, he backhanded me so soundly that I fell to the ground, my vision hazy."How dare you refuse me?"
