Just when Anna wondered what to do with the gruesome liquid in her hold, the elevator made its usual pinging sound and with a slight tilt of her head, Alex came into view, eyes filled with happiness. But all that delight disappeared when he saw what Anna held in her hands.

“What is that?” he asked cautiously.

“Blood,” she responded without filtering her words. “It arrived some seconds ago.”

Anna wore a small frown. How on earth was she supposed to know that? But she gave him a response regardless. “Someone who wants to kill Drake Blunt. They left a note.”
