We were waiting for dusk since Julian and I couldn't leave the castle until the sun dipped below the treeline. Before, I remained inside during the day by choice, this was the first time I had been confined within four walls out of necessity. I couldn't even open the curtains and admire the castle grounds or the way the children giggled and played in the courtyard.
