Eva's POV

"The path is clear!" I looked at the living area from the stairs where no Mark could be seen which made me relieved.

I immediately walked down the stairs and moved fast to open the main door with my hand but before I could push the doorknob. Mark's strong voice comes from behind.

"Eva! Where are you going?" 

I felt jolted with nervousness while my hand tightly pressed on the doorknob.

"Eva…" 

I could hear him calling me again and this time I finally inhaled a long breath to turn to meet his intense gaze and smiled normally.
