Adrian’s POV

My hands would not stop shaking. No matter how hard I pressed them together, no matter how many times I rubbed my palms against my jeans, they just kept shaking.

That picture. It was me. My face, smiling, walking beside Damien just hours ago. Whoever took it had been close. Too close. They were near enough to catch me clearly, near enough to hear my laugh maybe. I had not seen anyone. No camera lifted. No phone pointed at me. Nothing. But someone had been there. Watching. Following. Maybe even brushing past me in the crowd and I never knew.

The thought made my chest pound too fast. I felt sick. I wanted to rip the photo apart, tear it until it was nothing but pieces too small to see, but Damien had already locked it inside the drawer like it was a gun.

Maybe it was a gun. Maybe worse. Because now that I knew someone was near, every time I blinked, I saw it again. My face. My smile. My eyes. All caught inside a stranger’s lens.
