“It’s not the enemy that destroys you… it’s the one who once said they loved you.”

Elara didn’t know how long she had been walking.

The music from the party had faded behind her, but the noise in her head only got louder.

Not the heir.

Not your concern.

Leave the office.

Each word echoed like a cruel reminder.

She stopped by the garden hallway, gripping the edge of a table to steady herself.

Her chest felt tight.

Heavy.

Like she couldn’t breathe properly.

“Elara?”

That voice

Her heart skipped.

She turned quickly.

“Ryan…”

For a second, relief flashed across her face.

Finally.

Someone on her side.

Ryan walked toward her, dressed in a neat black suit, his usual confident smile on his face. He looked her up and down, then smirked slightly.

“Where’s my heiress?” he said playfully. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”

The word hit differently now.

Heiress.

Elara forced a small smile, though it didn’t reach her eyes. “Ryan, I”

“Oh, you didn’t hear?” another voice cut in.

Livia.

Elara’s expression immediately hardened.

Her stepsister walked toward them slowly, her heels clicking softly, her face glowing with amusement.

“Hear what?” Ryan asked, glancing between them.

Livia let out a soft laugh.

“That she’s not the heiress,” she said simply.

Silence.

Ryan blinked.

“What?”

Elara felt her stomach drop.

“Livia, stop” she tried to say.

But it was too late.

“She’s not inheriting anything,” Livia continued, her voice light, almost playful. “Seems like you’ve been dating the wrong sister all along.”

Ryan’s face changed.

The smile disappeared.

“What is she talking about?” he asked, turning sharply to Elara.

Elara swallowed. “Ryan, it’s not that simple—”

“So it’s true?” he cut in, his voice rising. “You’re not the heir?”

People nearby began to look.

Watch.

Whisper.

Elara’s fingers tightened at her sides. “I just found out too, okay? I was going to tell you—”

“Tell me what?” he snapped. “That I’ve been wasting my time?”

The words hit hard.

Elara flinched slightly. “Wasting your time?”

Ryan let out a short, angry laugh.

“You really thought I’d be with you for nothing?” he said.

Her heart dropped.

“Ryan…” her voice came out softer now, hurt creeping in. “What are you saying?”

“I’m saying,” he stepped closer, his eyes cold now, “I didn’t even like you in the first place.”

Silence.

Everything went quiet.

Elara stared at him.

Like she didn’t recognize the person in front of her.

“We’ve been together for over a year…” she whispered.

“Yeah,” he shrugged. “And?”

Her chest tightened painfully.

“And?” she repeated.

“Don’t act stupid, Elara,” he said impatiently. “You think it was love? It was never love.”

Each word felt like a knife.

“I stayed because you were the heiress,” he continued bluntly. “That’s it.”

Elara’s vision blurred slightly.

“No…” she shook her head. “You’re lying.”

“Am I?” he said.

Before she could react

Livia stepped forward.

Right next to Ryan.

Then, without hesitation

She grabbed his collar and pulled him down.

And kissed him.

Not just a quick kiss.

A deep one.

Slow.

Deliberate.

Right in front of Elara.

Elara froze.

Her mind went completely blank.

The world around her disappeared.

All she could see

Was them.

Her stepsister.

Her boyfriend.

Together.

Like it was nothing.

Like she was nothing.

After a few seconds, Livia pulled back, a satisfied smile on her lips.

Ryan didn’t look surprised.

Not even a little.

Instead, he wrapped an arm casually around Livia’s waist.

“Elara,” he said, almost bored now, “if you must know…”

His grip on Livia tightened slightly.

“She’s the one I actually like.”

The words echoed in her ears.

“I’ve liked her for a long time,” he added. “We’ve just been… careful.”

Careful.

Elara felt her knees weaken slightly.

“For over a year,” Livia added with a soft laugh. “You really didn’t notice?”

Elara couldn’t speak.

Couldn’t move.

Everything made sense now.

The looks.

The whispers.

The way Livia always smiled.

It wasn’t kindness.

It was mockery.

“You should thank me,” Livia continued sweetly. “At least now you know the truth.”

Truth.

Elara let out a small, broken breath.

Around them, people were staring again.

Watching.

Enjoying the show.

But this time

She didn’t react.

Didn’t shout.

Didn’t cry.

She just stood there.

Silent.

Still.

Like everything inside her had gone numb.

Ryan looked at her one last time, then scoffed lightly.

“Come on,” he said to Livia. “Let’s go somewhere less… depressing.”

Livia smiled, leaning into him.

“Of course.”

And just like that

They walked away.

Together.

Leaving Elara standing there alone.

Again.

But this time…

Something was different.

The pain was still there.

Sharp.

Deep.

But underneath it

Something else was growing.

Something colder.

Stronger.

Elara slowly lifted her head.

Her eyes were no longer soft.

No longer hurt.

They were empty.

Dangerously empty.

“Good,” she whispered to herself.

Her voice was calm.

Too calm.

“If that’s how it is…”

Her fingers curled slightly.

“Then none of you deserve mercy.”

The night had taken everything from her.

Her family.

Her position.

Her love.

Everything.

But maybe

Just maybe

That was exactly what she needed.

Because now…

There was nothing left holding her back.

  • His hidden heiress    Chapter 9: No One Saw It Coming

One year didn’t just pass. It changed everything. When she first arrived in Paris, she had nothing planned. No company. No connections. No one is waiting for her. Just a small hotel room and a decision she refused to take back. The first few weeks were not easy. She had money, yes but not enough to waste. So she moved out of the hotel and rented a small apartment. Nothing fancy. Just enough space to think. To breathe. To start. Every morning, she woke up early. Not because she had to But because she couldn’t afford to. She spent hours reading, researching, studying markets, trends, and companies. Anything that could give her an advantage. She didn’t rush. She watched. She learned. And slowly… she began to understand how everything worked. At first, no one took her seriously. A young woman, new in the city, with no known background. People dismissed her quickly. Some didn’t even let her finish talking. But she didn’t argue. Didn’t beg. She just left… And c

  • His hidden heiress     Chapter 8: The Empire She Built

“They once saw her as nothing. Now, they had no choice but to listen.” One year later. The city moved fast. And so did she. The glass doors of the conference room slid open, and all conversations inside came to a quiet stop. She walked in without rushing Calm. Composed. In control. No hesitation in her steps, no uncertainty in her expression. Just quiet authority. “Good afternoon,” she said. Her voice was steady, not loud, but enough to command the room. Around the table sat some of the most respected CEOs and investors in the industry. Men who had built companies from the ground up. Men who were used to being the ones in control. Now, they were watching her. Carefully. She took her seat at the head of the table, placing her tablet down in front of her. No introduction. No explanation. She didn’t need one. “Let’s begin,” she said. The screen behind her lit up. A clean, detailed presentation appeared. “This is a strategic expansion proposal,” she continued. “A co

  • His hidden heiress    Chapter 7: The Girl He Couldn’t Forget

“He had everything under control… until a stranger walked in and stayed in his mind.” The Hawthorne estate was nothing short of perfection. Tall gates. Endless gardens. The lights were glowing as the place had never slept. As Kael’s car pulled in, the guards immediately stepped aside. “Welcome back, sir.” Kael didn’t respond. His gaze was distant. Unfocused. Which was rare. Very rare. Inside, the house was already alive. Staff moving around. Soft music is playing. And in the center of it all His family. “Kael!” His mother walked toward him with a bright smile, arms open. “You’re finally back.” Kael allowed a brief hug, then stepped back. “How was the flight?” she asked, studying his face. “It was fine,” he replied. “Just fine?” she teased. “You were gone for days.” Kael adjusted his sleeve slightly. “Work.” Always work. His mother sighed lightly. “You need to rest sometimes, Kael.” “I’m fine.” Before she could say anything else Another voice joined in. “

  • His hidden heiress    Chapter 6: A New Name, A New Life

“Starting over isn’t easy… but staying broken is worse.” The city felt different. Alive. Bright. Free. Elara stepped out of the taxi, her eyes slowly taking everything in the tall buildings, the soft breeze, the unfamiliar streets filled with people who didn’t know her. Didn’t judge her. Didn’t expect anything from her. For the first time in a long time… She felt light. “Paris,” she whispered to herself. A small smile touched her lips. New country. New life. New everything. Perfect. The hotel was beautiful. Not as grand as the Voss mansion but warm, modern, and peaceful. Exactly what she needed. “Welcome, miss,” the receptionist said politely. Elara hesitated for just a second. Then “Miss… Aria,” she said. The name rolled off her tongue smoothly. Aria. Her new identity. Her new beginning. “Your room is ready, Miss Aria.” Elara nodded, taking the key card. As she walked into the elevator, she caught her reflection in the mirror. She looked different. Not

  • His hidden heiress    Chapter 5: The Stranger She Shouldn’t Have Met

“Sometimes, the person you walk away from… is the one you were never meant to miss.” The next morning felt unreal. Like everything from last night had been a bad dream. But it wasn’t. Elara stood in front of the mirror in her hotel room, staring at herself. Same face. Same eyes. But everything else? Different. Gone was the soft, quiet girl who waited to be chosen. What stood there now… Was someone new. Someone done with everything. “I’m not Elara Voss anymore,” she said quietly. The name felt heavy now. Like a past she didn’t want. She picked up her phone and made a call. “I need a name change. Legal. Fast,” she said, her voice calm, steady. There was a pause on the other end. “It can be arranged.” “Good.” She ended the call without hesitation. Next Flight booking. Destination? Anywhere but here. Anywhere they couldn’t reach her. Her fingers hovered over the screen for a second… Then she picked a place. New city. New life. No connections. Perfect. “Done,

  • His hidden heiress    Chapter 4: The Night She Walked Away

“The moment she stopped begging for a place… was the moment she became dangerous.” Elara didn’t go back inside. She couldn’t. Not after everything. The laughter. The whispers. Ryan’s voice. Livia’s smile. It all replayed in her head like a broken loop. She walked past the garden, past the glowing lights, past the guards at the gate. No one stopped her. No one cared. Of course they didn’t. She was no longer important. The cool night air hit her skin, but it did nothing to calm the storm inside her. Her heels clicked against the empty road as she kept walking. Faster. Then faster. Until.. She stopped. Her chest rose and fell heavily as she looked back. The Voss mansion stood tall and bright behind her. Beautiful. Untouchable. Like it had never been hers. Elara let out a soft, bitter laugh. “All this time…” she whispered, “I really thought I belonged there.” But she didn’t. Not anymore. Maybe she never did. Her phone buzzed in her hand. She looked down. A
