Theo froze up.

He knew leaving Dylan would only result in the end he could see as clear as day. He knew better than anyone that those eyes… the golden eyes that stared at him like a nuisance, were about to carry out an act estranged from Dylan's normal.

He knew all that and yet, his legs could only walk away in obedience. His lips unable to utter a word of reluctance or warning. As he walked away with his back turned to them, his heart got conflicted inside him.

Should he let Dylan be?

Was it right to turn his back on this when he knew where it was heading? He wanted Rachel gone but was this the best way?

Through his thoughts, his back went against a tree where he maintained a distance not too close to go against Dylan's request, and not too far to leave Dylan alone.

“I'll give you another chance, Rachel.” He heard Dylan speak behind him, thankfully not showing any distaste at his lingering presence. “Will you call her out… or not?”

He didn't know what response transpired in the short

  • His silent voice.   Deal?

“But why?” Lana stepped forward.“To get the scales I have to release my injured ones too.” Dylan said. “I don't want you seeing any more than you have.”“Are you seriously worried about that? Right now?!” Terry's disbelief was as loud as his hands.“What if you collapse again?” “I can handle that.”“No,” Rachel spoke up and her finger pointed in his direction. “I want him with us at least. I can't have you losing consciousness before I get my worth. And I can't have two of your kind with me alone.”Dylan stared at Rachel in silence. His eyes had gone completely void, he couldn't guess what Dylan was thinking. Dylan shifted his gaze back at him in request and he found himself exhale in surrender.“It's fine, I don't mind.” He stepped up immediately. “ I never wanted you to go alone with her anyway.”“Is that better?” Dylan asked Rachel and she looked more relieved.Without uttering another word, they all began to walk away. Leaving Terry and Lana who had looks filled with concern and

  • His silent voice.   A jar full.

*10 minutes earlier.*“It's getting late, shouldn't you kids get going?” Mr. Kerwood said with a tired tone while managing a weak smile at them.“A little more,” Theo said. “We'll leave in a moment.”He saw Mr. Kerwood take a peek at Dylan who sat at the other end of the long seat, and a thankful smile took up his lips.“Alright, I want to head out to the restroom for a minute.” Mr. Kerwood said.“Sure.” With a press on his shoulder that he read as, keep an eye on Dylan for me, he watched him leave. A turn to his side gave him a look at Terry and Lana who kept staring at Dylan in his quiet state. To his surprise, they didn't seem to have an issue with sitting next to him unlike when they were back at the car. That seemed to be the least of their problems as they found a new thing to worry about. “Do you want some water? I have one here if you want.” Lana tried to hold a conversation, but Dylan's dead eyes simply remained on the door that held his mom behind it.Her gaze turned to m

  • His silent voice.   Accident.

His brow squeezed.“Dylan, you got a message.” He said, caught between delivering the ill message and not.His eyes caught the missed calls from Bree, which was getting him anxious. Yet what had him even more concerned was the rest of the message that had a video attached to it.~~Did you like my little present? You took that better than I thought.~~~~But your mom doesn't seem to like the outcome, so I gave her a little hand.~~“What is it?” Dylan's voice brought his gaze up. “Why do you look like that? What is it? Let me see.”“Hold on.” He pulled the phone away to watch the video himself. He didn't like the texts already. And he was just being careful. He would return the phone once he was sure it wasn't something that could make Dylan go haywire. “What's wrong?” Lucas asked behind him as he played the video. The street he recognized immediately was only a few blocks away from their house. The person recording stood a distance away, but he could still recognize the two walking ou

  • His silent voice.   Birds.

Theo blinked, his head pulling back to see the look on Dylan's face. That was a joke, wasn't it?“R-really?” His confidence drained.“Would I joke about something like that out of the blue?” Dylan didn't look fazed.“What? What is it?” Lucas tried to join the conversation. His eyes went around the car and he wet his lips nervously. Sadly… he didn't handle the dark or scary things too well.“Did that scare you?” A smile almost took up Dylan's lips and he forced out a scoff.“Why would that scare me?” He tried to play it off. “It's probably nothing.”“Oh, it's definitely not nothing. I've felt its presence since we were at the hospital. It's stuck with us the whole time.”“It?” “Seriously, what are you two talking about?” “Birds.” Dylan said.“Birds?”“Why are you suddenly talking about birds?” Lucas asked again.“Can you go out and look to your left? Tell me what you see.”“Me?” he blinked, and a glance out the window confirmed his thought. No way he was going out there in the dark t

“What do you mean it's gone?!” Terry's eyes popped out.“I'm sorry, I only took my eyes off for a second because I heard a noise.” She turned in a panic.“Then what are we still doing here? We should get out and find out who took it!” Terry also panicked and the door flew open.He watched the siblings storm out before they could pitch in a word of theirs.“W-what do we do?” Lucas was just as confused as he was.“I-I don't know. But first we should back the car out of here. We should also keep an eye out. “You're right.” Lucas got busy with the car and he stared through the dark windows. It's gone? But it's been only less than a minute since Chase left. Did Lana really see him leave the pin? What if he caught on and only pretended to drop the pin, only to take it back at the last minute?“Damn it, this is a mess.” He grumbled to himself as the car got pulled out of their hideout.Lucas thankfully left the front headlights on and only then did he realize the dark had been getting to h
