Ch 13: Ecstasy

“Selene…”

Selene heard what Declan said about no women being able to take the place of his deceased girlfriend, though she couldn’t tell that Maya was no more. She only realized that the person meant the world to him.

It was surprising how her world seemed to spin at the words of the older man who she should have forgotten by now. However, those words made her feel worthless and self-conscious. She was the one who told him that everything they had was nothing but a fling, but when she heard it coming from him, it was too painful to bear.

She turned around and went back to Declan’s bedroom, the same place she found herself after losing her virginity to him. Oddly, this time around, the bed seemed more comfortable than her bed at home.

“Selene,” Declan quickly caught up with her and called her name once more. He didn’t know what to say, as he could tell that his words had hit a nerve.

“How are you feeling? Are you okay?” His mild voice sounded after he had calmed himself down. H
