Chapter 4

Author: Perfect Timing
On the day of the auction, I arrived half an hour early and found a private room with a good view that was not so easily noticeable.

Before long, Gary walked in with Quinn holding his arm. The two of them looked intimate, like a married couple.

Because Quinn was livestreaming today, she was dressed even more extravagantly than usual. Not to mention, she was already quite flashy on normal days.

She wore a complete set of matching necklaces and earrings, holding a Kelly bag, and had clearly gotten her hair done by a professional stylist. Anyone who did not know better would have thought she was there to walk a red carpet.

The attendant at the entrance immediately smiled when he saw them and led them into the VIP room.

Quinn soon started the livestream, and I logged in with my alternate account.

In the livestream, every time a lot came up, Quinn would bid on it immediately and win the item, leaving no chance for anyone else.

Before long, she had already spent several hundred thousand dollars, bidding for one item after another. Meanwhile, my husband simply watched her being a big spender, showing little reaction at all.

As I thought, spending my money did not hurt him.

I sneered. Not only was I not anxious, but I was also looking forward to what would happen next.

After the opening lots had all finished being bid on, the auctioneer began introducing a rare piece with excitement. "Ladies and gentlemen, coming up next is the wedding dress that was worn by the Princess of Albion when she got married, accompanied by the ringing of the bells of the Grand Cathedral. Its puff sleeves, V-neckline, and 26-foot train make the entire design a classic.

"The dress is designed to be light and flowing, with layers of tulle and pearl embroideries. It became an iconic piece in fashion history in the year it was worn."

When Quinn saw the gorgeous wedding dress, her cheeks flushed as her eyes shone with excitement. She forgot all about her image and shouted, "Honey, I want this one! It'll definitely stun everyone at the wedding!"

Gary thought for a moment, then nodded. Quinn then held his face in her hands and kissed him. "Honey, you're the best!"

The auctioneer had just started. "The starting bid is four hundred and sixty thousand dollars..."

The people below the stage grew excited, and the price was quickly pushed up to five hundred and eighty thousand dollars.

I smiled faintly and called out, "Six hundred thousand."

Quinn would immediately add thirty thousand dollars. Every time she bid, I would add another thirty thousand dollars to the bid right after her.

After several rounds, she started to get frustrated. At the same time, she noticed that Gary's expression had also darkened. After all, the amount was too large this time. He did not know how he could explain it to me.

When Gary still had not nodded after a long while, Quinn grew anxious. "Which blind idiot is bidding against me?! Honey, I don't care! So many fans are watching! You can't ruin the mood."

When the fans in the livestream saw that they had not placed another bid for so long, they began to suspect that the two of them were simply faking their wealth and scamming for views.

By then, the wedding dress had already been pushed to an astronomical price of seven hundred and twenty thousand dollars.

With Quinn urging him and the fans questioning them, Gary agreed to continue with the bid, but no matter how much he offered, I followed close behind.

In the end, the entire auction turned into a contest between him and me.

Even Quinn's voice started to change. "Is that person mad? Did she come to the auction just to pretend she's rich? She really doesn't know her place!"

I smiled. I did not want to waste time dragging this out slowly, so I directly bid one million dollars. At the same time, I told my assistant to freeze all of Gary's available funds and his bank accounts.

In the meantime, the whole room gasped, and Gary's face went pale.

"Forget about the dress, Quinn. Let's just give up. This wedding dress is more than a hundred years old, and it probably smells. If you're going to wear a wedding dress, you should wear a new one. That's luckier."

But how could Quinn simply let this go when she was so vain? With so many fans watching, they would tear her apart if she failed to win the bid. "No! I must have this wedding dress!"

But as soon as she finished speaking, she had already missed the final bidding window. The auctioneer brought down the hammer. "Congratulations to the lady in that private room! This lot is sold for one million dollars!"

Quinn was furious when she saw the wedding dress slip right out of her hands. She grabbed Gary and shouted desperately. "It's all because of you wasting time! I'm telling you right here and now… If you don't get this wedding dress for me today, you can forget about marrying me!"

Watching Quinn lose her composure while the two of them became a joke in front of the whole auction house embarrassed Gary completely. To end this farce as quickly as possible, he had no choice but to compromise. "Come now, don't get so worked up. I'll go talk to that lady right now. I'll get it for you no matter how much it costs."

After saying that, he walked toward my private room and spoke politely from behind the screen. "Madam, my girlfriend really loves this wedding dress and wants to wear it at our wedding. I hope you can pass it to us. I can offer a few pieces of jewelry from my personal collection as compensation. Here are the photos. Please see whether there is anything you like."

The attendant handed the photos to me, and I nearly laughed from anger. The jewelry from his so-called personal collection was all my inheritance from my mother.

I deliberately lowered my voice so he would not recognize it, filling my tone with pleasant surprise. "Oh, these pieces are truly unique."

When Gary saw that I liked them, he immediately pressed his advantage. "Then, you agree?"

"Why, of course. Since you're so sincere, I should come out and meet you, shouldn't I?" After saying that, I stepped out from behind the screen in my high heels.

The auctioneer looked at Gary coldly before saying, "Allow me to warn you, Mr. Carter. If you can't pay today, our auction house will sue you. Once that happens, your assets will be seized and your accounts frozen. You may even go to prison."Gary's legs gave out as he collapsed on the floor. He grabbed my leg and begged desperately. "Please, Honey. For the sake of our marriage for so many years, please just help me this once! I don't want to go to prison! My whole life will be ruined!"I kicked him away without mercy. "Gary, do you think you still have the right to talk about our marriage? Why didn't you think about it when you were sleeping with her? And you dare to bring it up now? Hah!"When he saw that I wasn't about to give in, he immediately turned to Quinn. "Quinn, I gave you a lot of money earlier. If it isn't enough, sell the things I bought you in the second-hand market! Find a way to gather that money! I really don't want to go to prison!"Quinn was already furious afte

Gary snorted when the auctioneer asked him to make the payment. He casually took out a card from his wallet and said, "Why is this even a problem in the first place? I've bought so many things from your auction house. When have I ever failed to pay on time? You really do look down on people. With that attitude, I'm going to file a complaint with your boss!"Looking at his arrogant expression, I despised him even more. He was only taking his anger out on an innocent auctioneer despite the fact that I was the source. That kind of classless behavior made him look useless and childish. The machine beeped, and Gary reached out, ready to take his card back. However, the auctioneer swiped it again.Gary grew anxious as he said, "You scammer! Who told you to swipe my card twice? How dare you double-charge my card right in front of me?! Careful, or I'm going to sue!"The auctioneer gave him a helpless look. "I swiped it a second time because the payment didn't go through the first time.""

Gary did not expect such a demand from me. He narrowed his eyes, and after a quick glance at Quinn, he said, "Honey, I know you're a very kind woman. It's the middle of winter right now, and even if she has to move, she needs time to find another place, right? Besides, it's normal for young women to be vain. She only said those things for views, and it wasn't like she really planned to sell your apartment. Don't take it too seriously."I looked back at him coldly. "If she doesn't have time to find a place, she can stay in a hotel. I want her out of my apartment right now!"As soon as I finished speaking, Quinn suddenly started breathing fast. She clutched her chest and leaned against the wall in pain. Someone in the auction hall shouted, "It looks like she's having an asthma attack! That can be serious... If it gets bad, she could go into shock."Seeing her pale face, a lot of people started feeling sorry for her again."Isn't this happening because the wife pushed her too hard? S

Quinn's pitiful act immediately drew everyone's sympathy, and whispers spread through the auction hall."Technology is so advanced now, and AI keeps getting better too. Who knows if that video is real?""Exactly. If they were really having an affair, would they have the courage to show up together in public like this?""Look at how aggressive she is. She must be a nightmare at home. Maybe her husband cheated because she forced him to do it."Once Quinn saw people taking her side, smugness crept into her eyes.Gary seized the chance and also started pleading with me. "Wendy, I'm begging you. Stop making a scene. I know you want control, and you've never let me have any contact with any women. I've already fired several female employees at the company because of you, but there needs to be a limit, even if you're angry. We are in public, so I'm begging you. Let's go home first."His words painted me vividly as a prideful woman who was unreasonable and spoiled. Many men looked at Gar

"You?! How… Why are you…?!" When Gary saw my face clearly after I stepped out from behind the screen, he stumbled several steps back from the sheer shock. "What about me? Am I not allowed at an auction?" I asked as I looked at him knowingly and stepped out of the room, right into Quinn's vision. Her eyes widened in disbelief, but my cold stare made her lower her head. She glanced at Gary, and all her earlier arrogance vanished instantly. Gary was about to open his mouth to explain, but I shot him a cold look and forced his silence. "I know you're busy running the company at the end of the year, so busy you didn't even have time to come home for a meal or get some sleep. I just didn't expect you were busy taking your cousin to an auction instead." I stressed the word "cousin", and Gary did not dare to make a sound. "As your wife, I really had no idea we were planning for another wedding for us." I looked at him calmly, my expression showing no emotion at all. While my voice wa
