Chapter 23

Tracey's POV

"Do you think this is really going to work? I don't think how this is going to work..." My assistant Jill complained as she put an apron on me.

I took a glance at myself in the mirror. I looked exactly like a sous chef.

"It's going to work," I reassured her, putting a chef's hat on my head. "See. It completes my look."

Jill looked even more worried.

I held her shoulders and said, "Don't worry. I'll blend into the crowd and get all the information I need about the bidding from the introductory session. Then, I'll get out of that place from the back door, where you will pick me up in your car. Before anyone notices it, we'll be long gone!"

"I'll be there to pick you up. No problem." Jill said in a trembling voice. "But please take care. Are you sure that you don't want me to call Mr. Swanson?"

"If you call him, I'll have to fire you," I said, checking my look in the mirror one last time.

Jill shrugged.

I didn't want to see Darren.
