Chapter 27

Tracey's POV

Cheston City General Hospital. Emergency Room.

The doctor's voice was buzzing next to my ears -

"It's acute bronchitis, which is a very common lung disease for children at his age. There's some inflammation that we're not sure of, so he has to stay in the hospital for a few days. Now you can go to the registration desk and complete some paperwork. Does he have any medical insurance?"

"No. My son isn't a US citizen. He was born in Myanmar," I replied.

The doctor said, "So he's not covered by any kind of insurance. That's a lot of money you have to pay for," the doctor said. "Urgent care is very expensive in this country. If you take your son home and come back 15 days later, it will be much cheaper. But there is a chance for his condition to deteriorate. It's your call."

"My son will stay in the hospital," I said in a deciding voice. "I'll get the money as soon as possible."
