Tracey's POV

"Swanson! It's such a pleasure to meet you again," Lucas said in his signature monotonic voice.

"I'm afraid I can't say the same," Darren said.

Lucas ignored him and said to me, "And you, Miss Stewart. I can't help but notice that you're in a lousy mood these days. May I ask what's going on?"

"I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that wherever I go, I see you," I replied.

"I'm afraid I have to be here. I'm the owner of R&E LLC," Lucas said.

Of course, you are. I thought to myself. I should have known it better. You're behind all the companies that make profits in Cheston City.

This revelation made me even more frustrated because it must be him who told his people not to send an invitation to me!

Lucas noticed my anger and turned to Darren -

"Do you have any particular reason to be here, Swanson? Did some rich, bored housewife commission you to keep track of some infidelity case of her husband?"

Darren smirked and leaned against a table -

"Yes, indeed.
