Chapter 4

It's Monday again. It was a terrible week for me as a senior in high school, same as Frances as well. Endless requirements here and there. I'll run across the demanding teachers again, and if they give us assignments, they think that the teachers of the other subjects don't do the same.

I quickly grabbed the bag from the couch and started stuffing it with my belongings. I don't want to miss anything important since I would be really upset if I did. Savannah and the three of us found it difficult to look each other in the eye after that day. She makes us giggle because, despite her best efforts, she is unable to escape our presence in the condo.

She seems to be always hoping that our paths won't intersect. Why is that so? We share a roof together. It is therefore unlikely that our paths will not really cross. After some time, we heard the door to her room close, and we turned to face her.

A luggage was sitting next to her while she struggled with her keys. I was taken aback because she hadn't mentioned earlier that she was going somewhere.

I questioned her, "Do you have work today?" She turned her head to face me and nodded right away.

"I'll be gone for a bit because I have a shoot for the new endorsement, I failed to let you guys know. I'm sorry," she apologetically said.

Frances asked, "How long will you stay there?" Savannah thought for a moment.

"Three months, I guess," Savannah said with a pout.

"Woah. You've been staying there for a long time, huh?" As soon as she brought out her suitcase, she gave us the go-ahead to depart.

She smiled and said, "Don't forget the things I always say to you, okay? I'll update you if I'm free. Take care, okay?" We exchanged glances before nodding. She said her goodbyes as we led her to the unit's door.

I was even more shocked when Savannah laughed and gave Jarvis the thumbs up as he hurried out the door shouting, "Don't forget to get something for us before you go home!"

Then we went back to what we were doing. We already had our meal and were getting ready to leave. After a while I heard Jarvis speak. "Hurry up, guys!" He said impatiently. I scoffed at him.

"Why are you in such a hurry? Maybe you forgot that we have different class schedules?" I responded, leaning on the couch's backrest and hugged my bag.

Jarvis just rolled his eyes at me and crossed his arms. "I know that."

"Then, why are you rushing us now?" Frances asked, wondering. Jarvis inhaled deeply and fixed his intense gaze on us.

"I just want to see you guys jealous because someone will take me to school," he said innocently. I also noticed how he repeatedly blinked his eyes which you thought made him even cuter. But, he wasn't.

He thought I would be jealous because someone would drive him to school? Why? I can commute. It's not that I'm bitter or jealous, but I'm not envious and I'll never be envious. I can handle myself because I am an independent person.

Sure Niro, keep fooling yourself.

I was startled when Frances grabbed my arm and acted like he was going to hurt Jarvis. Jarvis just gave him a scornful look. "Stop me, Niro. My eyes are getting dark because of this bitch."

"You're already a grown up, Frances. You can do that all by yourself," I encouraged him and then completely stood up from my seat. I shook my pants first and then I picked up my bag.

I simply pulled the collar of Frances's shirt and I also took his bag and flung it towards him, which he caught in an instant.

"Let's just take him downstairs. So that he can stop talking," I suggested. I immediately received a smack on the arm from Jarvis.

We made sure the wires were unplugged from the electrical outlet and the condo unit door was securely shut. While walking, Jarvis and Frances' arms were clinging to me. You thought I would disappear by their side if I wasn't glued to them both. I can do nothing but put up with it. These two won't let me leave, not even if I have the option. I'm no longer a minor, my god.

Frances softly whispered to me, "Who will take him to school?" I have no idea why Jeff came to my mind. Maybe that's what they discussed when Jarvis first met him in the supermarket.

I didn't want to say the name right away, so I just shrugged. Jarvis quickly released my arm when we came into the lobby and ran to the man who was facing the other way. We both came to a stop and looked at what was going on in front of us.

He called his name, and we heard it. "Jeff!"

So, it was actually him. Frances suddenly tightened her hold on my arm till it was painful, which astonished me. To stop the noise from coming out of my mouth, I pursed my lips. You'll be a dead meat later, Frances.

"Oh god! He's so handsome!" He exclaimed. He nearly trembled in his place.

"Those are my type! The ones that smell like baby powder and then take care of you and love you purely," he continued to speak. I just scratched the back of my neck while trying to ignore what he was saying.

"What kind of face is that, Niro?"

I sighed heavily. "I'm so tired of you guys."

"Well then, take a rest." And immediately he bit his lip and raised both hands like a "rock on" gesture. I don't want to be left alone with this man because of this. He speaks incoherently and says anything comes to his mind.

If he wants, he can rest alone, after all, it seems that he needs that more than I do.

He got a roll of the eyes from me as I walked away from him. I walked straight away when Jeff called me. I immediately turned around and raised an eyebrow at him.

"Do you want to come along with us?" I was about to answer when Frances spoke before me.

"Yes, I do!" All I can do is hide my face in embarrassment. He was smiling really wide and his eyes almost sparkled as he looked at Jeff.

Jeff laughed softly. "Cute." Such a flirt.

Frances should really be together with Jarvis because they both have a big crush on Jeff. I can't say no anymore because Frances is forcing me too. He said that we will just save the money for the commuting fare. Although you might assume that he has the cash to pay for gas, the truth is that his face is merely incredibly thick.

We just kept walking when we stopped in front of an Audi A6. It was like our eyes were dazzled because of how beautiful this car was. It seems we don't want to ride it anymore. I'd rather just commute. I really should put the blame on Frances.

Frances continued to whisper by my side as I continued to look at the car in front of me, "Rich. It's like he can also take you to heaven. Our Jarvis will be very lucky because he will experience being in the front passenger seat. He can see the beautiful view right in front of his eyes and he will see if Daddy Jeff is a one-hand driver."

"Sad to say, you're not Jarvis," I laughed softly when I heard him curse.
