Ashlyn

Rhe ride into Panther City was blended into a blur of keeping Chase stable and groaning over Kravs dismissal.

My eyes burned from no sleep, my chest raw from running all night, and still all I could think about was Krav’s silence up front. He never once looked back. Never once spoke. His knuckles white on the wheel, his jaw like stone.

But Chase’s pulse was weaker by the mile, and Keiral’s muttering curses got sharper, faster. By the time we hit the gates of the city, his breathing was ragged, his skin clammy and grey.

We pulled into General. Panthers were already waiting, the doors of the trauma wing ripped open wide. Nurses froze when they saw the state of him, but Keiral shoved them aside, barking orders like she owned the place.

“He’s not stabilizing,” she snapped as we slid Chase onto the gurney. “The artery’s refusing to fuse. We need more than stitches.”

I stared at my cousin. His head lolled. His lips blue.

“No,” I said. My wolf clawed up my ribs. “We’re not losing hi

Ashlyn Rain eased to a steady spit by the time we left the Den. The roads out of Questorian Valley were slick and empty. Curt drove the lead jeep. Haden took the second with Lechandray. I rode with Krav. No music. No chatter. Just the grind of tires and the occasional ping from Curt’s tracker.Crosslands sat south of the ridge where packs and clans pretended to tolerate each other for the sake of trade. Black-market stalls under corrugated roofs. Shipping yards that never closed. A maze of alleys where money moved faster than questions. If Mira wanted noise and cover, this was it.We parked under a dead light two blocks from the market spine. Krav scanned the rooftops. Haden checked weapons. I pulled up the street mesh Keiral had synced to my slate. The Crosslands grid wasn’t part of Panther City, but Ellan’s outer nets still scraped enough passively to give us air.“Last ping from Keiral’s comm was at 23:18,” Curt said, tapping his screen. “One block north of the fish wharf. Then it

AshlynThe air hummed with tension. Rain drummed against the roof, the kind of steady rhythm that filled silence when no one wanted to speak first.Krav leaned against the wall by the window, his arms crossed, eyes unreadable. Haden paced. Curt sat on the edge of the table with his elbows on his knees, watching both of them. Lechandray was in the corner, rubbing her temple, muttering under her breath about how this was exactly the kind of mess we didn’t need right now.And me? I stood in the center of the room, staring at the glowing screen on the table—the security footage that showed Mira walking into Keiral’s apartment, calm and easy, before everything went dark.I couldn’t look away.“She took her,” I said, finally. My voice sounded thin even to me. “Mira took her.”“Dragged her out like a damn pup,” Curt added. “No noise, no struggle. Cameras caught a shadow after that, looked like...”A wolf,” Lechandray finished, sitting back. “Black. Bigger than any wolf I’ve seen.”That part

KeiralThe storm had been building all day, crawling over Panther City like it was hunting for somewhere to land. By nightfall, it broke—lightning carving through the clouds, rain smashing against the windows of the small apartment Ellan had given me.The city below looked half asleep and half alive, all metal and neon, lights smeared by the downpour. I’d killed the lab feed an hour ago, but the numbers and pulse charts still flickered behind my eyes every time I blinked. Too many anomalies. Too much power where there shouldn’t be any.I hadn’t slept properly in days. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw the Hollow—the same endless black Ashlyn described after her run-in with Rizakeal.Except now, it wasn’t just her visions. They’d started leaking into me.I’d tried to pretend it was stress, exhaustion, the overload of handling too much data for too long, but my reflection said otherwise. My eyes looked older. Haunted. Like something was watching me from behind them. The hum of the rain

AshlynThe road home wound through the trees, long and empty. The air was cool, heavy with rain that hadn’t fallen yet. I had the windows half open, one hand on the wheel, the other tapping against the console.Krav stayed behind in Panther City with Keiral to test the seams.I told myself it was fine. We needed to divide focus, cover ground, all that logical shit we said when we didn’t want to admit that leaving someone behind hurt. The Den wasn’t far now — half an hour at most. The familiar scent of pine and soil crept through the open window. It should’ve felt like peace. It didn’t.Sheetal had been quiet since Panther City. Too quiet. When the Honshu slept, it was like being alone in your own head again. When she woke, it was like sharing it with a storm.Lately, she’d been flickering, restless under my skin.I was halfway past the second ridge when the temperature dropped. The air went thin. My vision blurred for a blink, like the road ahead was bending.“Sheetal,” I said under m

Krav The pressure pushed again, harder. Not an attack. An instruction. Get up. Move. Remember. Claim. The same way I would tell a young dragon to ride a crosswind instead of fighting it until he tumbled. “Not yours,” I said. “Not this life.” I felt it smile. Not warm. Not cruel. Certain. Then my vision shifted a last time and locked into something that made my stomach drop. I was looking through eyes that were mine and not mine at a battlefield that wasn’t a field. A grid suspended in air. Bodies moved across it in lines. Wolves. Dragons. Something older. I moved my hand and the grid answered. A door opened in the middle and he walked through. Me. Not me. He carried blue in his bones the way I carried it in my blood. He carried heat in his wings that matched the heat in my throat. He looked at me like I was late. Then he said my name in a voice that had never needed a mouth. “Korrin.” My body flinched. No one had called me that in years. Not as a name. As a title. The old wo

Krav Flight always cleared my head. Not tonight. The city dropped away under me into a clean grid of dark roofs and blue ward lines. The tower spires cut the clouds. My wings drove hard. Air burned through my lungs clean and hot. I pushed higher until the hum of the lower nets faded and only the high lanes held me.Catan wanted the cold and the height. My panther wanted ground and walls. I ignored both. I needed the sky.Three days since Ashlyn’s vision. Three days since Keiral said the name none of us should have said. Three days of sleep broken into pieces. Every time I closed my eyes, the seams moved. Every time I landed, the ground felt wrong, like it wanted to tilt.I banked east and cut for the ridge. The mountains held steady in the dark, black lines against a washed moon. I rolled, locked my wings, and let my body fall until the wind screamed in my ears. At the last second I snapped open, flared, and climbed again. Muscle. Bone. Heat. Simple. Then my vision blurred. It hit fa
