Days turned into weeks. Three weeks later, we were stuck here in this stupid situation. We didn't have a plan. Not yet, at least. I wasn't sure what to even do at this point.

Evie complained day and night, and she assumed that this was her karma.

The door rattled, and Mai stepped inside, a smirk on her face, and she showed me the news.

"It looks like Nathan pulled some strings. He's free."

"Well, I mean, you guys aren't there. Also, since you guys are on vacation in The Bahamas and the evidence didn't belong to Nathan, well I guess he can be free. For now."

"What about the charges I placed against him?" Evie asked, and Mai rolled her eyes.

"When will you learn that no one gives a fuck about you, sweetie? Nathan is a lawyer, and I've seemed to underestimate him. He knows his rights, and he knows how to get out of sticky situations."
