May has it all—beauty, poise, and the right to inherit a multi-million-dollar mansion and the prestigious Greenfield Hospital. But with the hospital on the brink of bankruptcy and the government threatening to seize the property, her only chance to save her father’s legacy lies in one condition: marry Collin Grey, the wealthy CEO and son of her father’s best friend. Their engagement is meant to be a lifeline—until Collin accuses her of cheating and shatters her world with shocking proof: she’s pregnant. The problem? May is still a virgin. With her engagement broken and her inheritance slipping through her fingers, May sets out to uncover the truth. Her investigation reveals a twisted web of betrayal and dangerous schemes—a swapped lab test, a jealous stepsister, a scheming secretary, and a connection to three of the country’s most powerful (and ruthless) billionaire CEOs. Now carrying a child whose paternity could shake empires, May must choose between reclaiming her father's crumbling legacy, protecting her child, or uncovering deeper conspiracies that could destroy their world. Hers and her child's.

Life was great. At least, it was going great. My life wasn't perfect but it wasn't bad either. I was beautiful, rich, relatively comfortable and soon to be engaged to a man I've loved for a long time now. That was until it was thoroughly shattered by that night. The night supposed to be my second happiest night turned into my greatest nightmare. Looking back, I thought about my life. How on earth did it go so wrong? As the daughter of the most successful medical practitioner in the whole country, there was nothing more I could have asked for. As May Greenfield, life looked like a bed of roses. Maybe it was, I'm not sure. I've never known my mother as she died while giving birth to me, but I was at least blessed with a doting father. Marcus Greenfield, my father was an icon in the country, known not only for him incredible medical expertise but also for his philanthropic deeds. He was a role model like no other and the best dad anyone could ask for. After my mother's death, dad cared for me on his own, doing his best to manage his busy schedule and taking care of a baby as a single father. Even though I had a nanny, he would spend time with me just so that I had a parental presence in my life. I loved him for that. Unfortunately, by the time I was ten, I saw it quite clearly that he couldn't go on like this. His job and all of his social activities as a doctor, businessman and philanthropist were taking a huge toll on him. Including me was only making his life harder and draining him faster. I could tell, and if I could tell at ten, I can only imagine what the people around him thought. Eventually, he succumbed to the pressure and reluctantly informed me that he was going to marry again. I had no objections to that. The sweet innocence of childhood had me craving for a family like everyone else. I wanted a mother who I could be a girl with in ways I couldn't with my father. When he told me he was getting married to my nanny since she was the most familiar with me, I was even more overjoyed. I loved my nanny. It as a dream come true. Her daughter was my closest friend at the time so the thought of us becoming sisters made me giddy with joy. Just how wrong I was. Once, Emma and her mother, Sherlyn became family, I realised quite quickly that we weren't a family. It was just me and my dad still. My step mother and sister made my life as hellish as they could. It wasn't much considering the fact that they knew that my dad would throw them out the second he finds out, but they did enough to make a ten year old girl cry herself to sleep every night for the next five years. But, that was all it took. All it took was five years and I was done allowing myself to get affected by them and I began living my life for myself. It worked like magic. I couldn't care less what they did and even though they were awful towards me, they could never really abuse me physically as my father's presence wouldn't let them. At seventeen, I met Conan Grey who was twenty at the time, at one of my father's charity balls. He was there to represent his father and he was quite smitten with me as I was with him. At twenty, Conan Grey was already a household name in the tech and business industry, making a name for himself as the youngest CEO of a tech company, Grey Tech. At the time, it was still growing so the ball was an opportunity for him to meet investors as well as represent his dad. In his words, he forgot all of that once he saw me. He spent the whole night with me instead and left without even meeting my father. It was the most memorable thing that had happened to me since my father's marriage. Our relationship soon got public. Conan was a great boyfriend and life was perfect. Until it wasn't. My father fell terribly ill. All of the stress must have caught up to him because he ended up bedridden by the time I was nineteen. It was the worst year of my life. Dealing with my father's illness along with my step mother and Emma's antics was draining and tiring. All I had to keep me going was Conan. He cared for me and supported me. He made life a little better for me. Things were even better when it seemed like my dad had made sure to secure my future. I was named the heir to my father's empire in his will, but my step mother was named regent until I got married to Conan, after which I would rightfully own all of it. The urgency to marry Conan became even more prevalent when a few months under my stepmother's control had almost ruined my father's hospital. Government policies were threatening to force the hospital into foreclosure and I couldn't have that. The hospital was my father's life's work. I would rather die than let it go into foreclosure. Conan seemed to agree with me as he immediately proposed to me once I turned twenty. The engagement party was fixed and all was in order for what would have been my second happiest day ever. Everything was in order. The party was set and Conan hired the best makeup artists in the country to make sure I looked heavenly. In his words; "You're already an angel. Let's make even heaven aware of that." I was the happiest person and even Emma's obvious jealousy did nothing to dent my joy. Until Conan stormed into the party with seething anger aimed at me. "Conan?" I called, confused. "What happened?" "You bitch!" He hissed. "You fucking cheated on me!" Life sucks.NICHOLAS As I left the place, I was boiling in anger, not at May but at myself. I just got what I deserved. Why would I hold onto May who was disappointed in me? I should have never followed her in the first place. I must have been crazy. I got to the garage and Kelvin saw me. "Aren't you leaving with Miss May?" Kelvin asked me carefully."Bring her back safely," I replied. "If anything happens to her, I'm holding you responsible. Make sure she comes back to the mansion!" "Yes, boss," Kelvin responded. I got into my own car and drove off. As I drove, I had several thoughts. Several scenarios played in my mind but nothing frightened me more than May following Conan to his place after dinner. That should never happen. We were legally married. But... I was also involved with Vivian and Lydia. What if she wanted payback? The contract didn't state that she couldn't be with other men. If I could have sex with Vivian, she was also entitled to do it with Conan. This was driving me crazy
MAY I had noticed Nicholas's car behind my trail ever since I left the mansion. Kelvin also confirmed it. He had been a driver for years and he could tell when he was being followed. Nicholas's disguise to enter the restaurant was a funny one. I could tell who he was right from his figure. So when Conan began to say much, I stepped in right away. “Don’t badmouth my husband. He is right there,” I pointed to Nicholas. I could see the shock registered on Conan's face as I said this. Nicholas turned and smiled uneasily. I smiled back at him naughtily."Oh, he came with you," Conan managed to say. "Come and join us, honey. Come here," I gestured to Nicholas. He looked so nervous as he came to sit with us. Conan was the same. The waiter came over and served us. "I have heard a lot about you, Mr. Nicholas. I was going to see you in the next few weeks. I never knew I would get the opportunity just like this," Conan said slyly. Nicholas simply kept a smile on his face. "I haven't heard a
NICHOLAS “In a nutshell,” May interrupted. “You pulled strings to get Lydia the appointment.” Wait! Did I do that? When did I do such a thing? What was May saying? “No, that never happened. I never knew her name until today. How could I promote her to the housekeeper? The decision was made by Mama without my involvement,” I answered quickly. However, I could tell that May did not believe me. She must have thought I was only making excuses. Well, I would have thought the same if I were in her shoes. “Anything you say!” May laughed it off. She sat on the bed and began to take off her heels. Afterwards, she laid on the bed, laughing wickedly. I wouldn’t be shocked to hear that she had a murder plan for me.“Hey, you believe me, don’t you?” I asked just to be sure. That was purely unnecessary. “Why would I believe you? Do you think I have a pumpkin instead of a brain?” She asked. I was officially fed up. I had no way to convince her anymore. Just as I decided to continue, I heard her
MAY The drive helped me calm my nerves. I did some thinking on my own and realized that I might have feelings for Nicholas. That was the only reason I would be so annoyed about Lydia. This wasn’t the plan I had when I accepted the contract marriage offer. I had to do something about it before I fell even harder. “Fall for him?” I muttered to myself. “What did you say, Miss?” Abby asked. She thought I was talking to her. “Please focus on the road, Abby,” I replied dryly. Both of us were on our way back to Nicholas’s mansion. My phone rang and I stared in shock at the familiar number. I could feel my heart beating hard as I thought about what I should do. The caller was Conan, my ex-fiance. I rejected the call uneasily. Abby remained focused on the road. I eased into my seat and sighed. I was bothered by the mere idea of Conan calling me. What was he doing that for? Did he want to apologize for cutting off our engagement just like that? Oh no! Conan would never do that. He
NICHOLAS I was unsettled. Ever since May caught me kissing Lydia, I had been worried since then. I couldn't concentrate on anything and I blamed myself. I shouldn't have done that no matter the situation. But I was more worried that May might get the wrong idea. I didn't come back to the room that night so I could give her space, it wasn't that I went back to Lydia. Vivian entered my office, holding some documents. She had a smile on her face. I stared at her as she dropped the documents on my table. "The stock prices are rising, boss. It appears your PR went well," Vivian told me calmly. She showed me her iPad and I could see that it was rising indeed. On a normal day, this would be enough to get me so excited. However, nothing of such was happening today. "Okay, I understand," I simply replied. I could see the shocked expression on Vivian's face after I said this. It was her own turn to stare at me. One would think she was scanning my face. "Boss!" I heard her call me. "I am
MAY I clenched my fists. I thought I could fake a smile but my face didn’t cooperate with my slyness. She was dressed in a different attire, one that I had never seen since I got to the mansion. The maid stepped backwards as she came forward.“My name is Lydia and I am the current housekeeper. For the next two weeks, I will take up the duties of the butler and manage the maids until Mama comes back. Nice to meet you, Miss,” She smiled at me. Just by taking one look at her, I could tell that she was an opportunist. She was smiling so confidently, not minding that she was caught with my husband last night. What an effrontery. “Whose decision is this?” I asked calmly. I was so close to having an outburst. I had to control myself but it was getting harder every moment.“It wasn’t Nicholas, don’t worry,” Lydia replied.“And how dare you call my husband by his name! Are maids supposed to do such discourtesy?” I asked angrily. I was genuinely upset.“You can leave,” Lydia told the maid be
