Nathan's POV

I sat in my dining room, staring at the plate in front of me. I couldn't eat. I didn't want to. I didn't deserve to.

I got away from that situation. I was thankful. The man, Julius, who was apprehended in connection with attacking Annette got caught up in a web of lies. There was no connection between us.

A sharp knock on my door grabbed my attention. I rose out of my seat and peeked through the door hole. I recognized the person as the guy from my family gathering who was with Annette.

What the hell does he want? I opened the door and greeted him.

"How can I help you?"

"Can I come in for a second?" He asked and I nodded.

"Look, I know that we aren't friends, and I don't know you, but I know you're a dick." He started.

"Did you come to my house to slander me or are you going to get to the point?"

"I think something is wrong with Annette. She was hardly returning my texts and then suddenly she calls and tells me she doesn't want anything to do with me. That was a few days
