Chapter 2: The party

Daniell's POV:

The sound of my alarm clock waked me up and stopped the beautiful dream I was having.

"Ugh what time is it?" I asked and looked at the wall clock beside my closet. My eyes widened and I started to panic.

For goodness’s sake it's already 5:50 p.m.! I said I was just going to sleep for like 30 minutes. But that 30 minutes ended up like 3 hours and a half! I jumped out of my bed and grabbed my purse. I'm very thankful there's a grocery and liquor store near the condo.

I bought the things I will need for later. I plan to do Bloody Mary, Tequila Sunrise, S*x on the Beach, Mojito and Juicy Lucy. Those are their favorites. I also bought chips for our snacks. I also want to make tempura but maybe I'll just do it at Celine’s because I'm running out of time.

I got home about 6:10 so I still had 20 minutes to get ready. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth before jumping inside the shower. I squirted a tiny amount of shampoo on my hand and applied it in my hair. While I was scrubbing my scalp, I heard someone called me in a whisper way.

"Dani ..."

"Dani...”

"Dani...help."

I immediately rinsed my head and looked around me.

"This is getting weird." I said to myself. I was startled when someone aggressively knocked at my bathroom door.

"Dani? You in there? Hurry up, will you?" It sounded like Celine's voice, so I calmed down.

"Yeah! Be there in a minute!" I shouted and rinsed my whole body before stepping out of the shower. I wore my robe and wrapped the towel on my hair.

"Hey you're a bit...early." Slowly I said. I was expecting to be greeted by the girls instead, I was greeted by...no one.

"Girl I'm here—woah! Why you still in a robe?" Cyrille entered and was surprised to see me only in a robe. I looked at the bed and looked back at Cyrille.

"W-where's Celine?" I asked. She looked at me like I was telling some kind of a joke.

"What do you mean where's Celine? She's on her way. I thought you saw the GC?" She said and showed me her phone. "I even talked to you. You told me to go here." She added.

"But I didn't. I haven't opened my phone yet. I just came from the grocery and liquor store then in the shower." I said.

"So, you're saying that you're not the one who texted me? It's SMS so it's impossible for it to be hacked." She laughed. When she saw that I was serious, she slowly stopped. "You've got to be kidding me. This is a joke, right?" She asked. I shaked my head no.

"No. Cyrille you know me. I don't like playing jokes when it comes to paranormal stuffs." I said. He sat up in bed.

"I think we should tell the girls?" She asked. I shook quickly.

"No. You think they'll believe us? You know them. They don't believe in ghosts or any paranormal. If we tell it to them, they'll think we're trying to stop the party, or worse, they'll think we've gone cuckoo. " I said and sighed.

"Do you think it's her?" She asked. I immediately looked at her.

"I-I don't know." I said and looked down at my feet.

We both flinched when someone knocked on my door.

"Dani!! Open up! Is Cyrille there? Come on we’re leaving!" Rein shouted outside.

"Yeah! Just getting dressed!" I shouted and went back to the bathroom.

"You go there first. I'll be right next." I said and closed the bathroom door. I heard my main door open and close. I immediately got dressed and left the room.

“Let’s go!” Celine said happily and started her car.

“So, what now Dani? Did you bring it?” Ashley asked. She was obviously excited too. Actually, we were all excited.

"Yep." I said.

“Guys, we’re going to our penthouse. Mom and Dad came home unexpectedly and brought guests.” Even Celine.

“Yeah, sure it’s fine. As long as we can celebrate tonight.” Said Rein.

Our trip didn't take long because there was no traffic. When we arrived at Celine's penthouse, we immediately got out of the car and unloaded our belongings.

"You haven't used it for a long time but it's still good." Ashley commented. While on our way here, Celine mentioned to us that the penthouse we were going to had not been used for a long time since her parents were busy and she was also busy. We were even afraid that a ghost might be living there.

“Well, mom always makes sure it's clean even when it's not in use. And we also have a caretaker.” Celine said and opened the door. The dark house opened up to us. They even pushed in because they were scared.

"I’ll do it." I volunteered and went inside first. When I was already inside, I looked at them and smiled. "Come on it's okay." I told them. But my smile faded when I felt something cold behind me. It’s blowing at my neck that made me shiver. I turned around, only to be greeted by another darkness.

I was startled when suddenly someone grabbed me by the shoulder at the same time as the light turned on.

"Oh, why do you seem to see a ghost there?" laughed Rein. I just smiled at her and shaked my head.

"You look like a ghost." Ashley's teasing. Rein then kicked her.

"Hey, stop it before you two break something here." Katherine scolded the two. Of us all, Katherine is the most mature because she is also the oldest of us all. The youngest are Ashley and Rein.

“Cel, where is your kitchen? Can I use it? There's just something to cook.” I asked her.

"That way." She said and pointed to the way where their kitchen is. I immediately went there and prepared the things I would need for the tempura I was going to make.

They set up one by one in the living room while I listened to music while cooking. While waiting for the tempura to turn golden brown I proceeded to make cocktails.

“Dani! Let’s go!” I heard Celine scream.

"Yup I'm almost done here!" I shouted back and put all the tempura I made in a plate I found at the cupboard here in the kitchen.

I put in on a tray together with the cocktails and went to the living room where they all are. They set up a karaoke there too. The sofas were on the side, and they were all sitting on the floor.

"Oh, why are you all sitting there?" I asked and laughed a little.

"For a change!" Cyrielle replied and laughed.

“Never mind. Oh, here it is.” I said and put the drinks and snacks on the small table. They immediately took tempura. They all hummed in satisfaction when they ate one.

“Dani, you are really good at cooking! Can I take you to be the head cook for our family?” Celine joked.

"What if we can just do business and then Dani cooks?" Rein's suggestion.

“Business right away? Girls, we’re here for a celebration, right? So let’s enjoy this day because for sure next week, we’ll enter a new phase of our life.” Katherine said.

“She’s right. So, let’s start the party!” Celine shouted and played a party music.

We danced and drank as if there’s no tomorrow. Sing here, dance there, drink here, eat there. What we did to make the most of this day.

"One more!" They all shouted and handed me another shot glass. I laughed at them.

“No! I don't want to!” I laughed and refused.

“Oh killjoy! Don't be a killjoy Dani! Come on one more!” They all insisted. I just shrugged and accepted the shot glass.

I was about to drink it but it suddenly broke. The shot glass I was holding shattered and scattered on the floor.

We all flinched when suddenly all of the shot glasses shattered. Even the wall mirrors cracked. The glass on the top of the mini table also cracked.

But what happened next really confused us and scared us also.

A lot of eggs rolled towards our direction. And then it all stopped. We just looked at it but flinched when suddenly they all began to crack. I think almost all the eggs in Celine's refrigerator were broken.

We thought it was done. Suddenly the surroundings became quiet. Karaoke also stopped playing.

At the same time, we were stunned when suddenly there was a song playing. A song that made us confuse.

“Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men

Couldn’t put Humpty together again. ”

"Whose phone is that?" Shaking, Ashely asked and pointed at the phone where the song played repeatedly.

Slowly, we walked our way towards the phone. We all looked at each other. We’re like in a horror movie and the background song is the nursery rhyme entitled Humpty Dumpty.

I mustered all the courage I have and picked up the phone to stop it from playing. When I hit the pause button, it suddenly went off. And I almost had a heart attack when I saw a girl on it. It’s like it’s inside the phone. Slowly it began to crack. The girl in the phone smiled at me. I screamed at the top of my lungs before throwing it.

They were also stunned because of my shouting.

“You will all pay…”

We looked around us when we heard a voice. A cold voice that’s so chilling and sent shivers down to our spine.

“You killed me. You killed me!”

"W-whoever you are, leave us alone!" I shouted bravely.

"Soon…"

All the windows opened and a cold, strong wind entered. We all held hands and kept our eyes closed.

And then it all stopped. No more wind, no more voice, no more darkness. The lights went on again and the karaoke music started to play again.

All of us are catching our breath as if we just ran.

We panicked when suddenly Katherine loss conscious. Followed by Ashley, Rein and Celine. Cyrille and I are the only one left.

"W-what's happening?" Panicked, she asked. But then she suddenly fell.

I cold wind blew from behind. I turned around to look at it. My eyes widened as I met a pair of red eyes.

It said something, but I can’t hear it. My vision started to blurry.

"You're mine."

That’s all I heard before losing consciousness.
