ログインMira's POV
The beeping sound wouldn't stop. I turned slowly, relentlessly. The sound continued like a countdown.
My eyelids felt heavy. I opened them slowly, the dizziness hitting harder.
The blurry room turned clearer. I turned my head to my side and immediately regretted it.
My head tilted, and my stomach rolled in slow, nauseating waves.
“Ugh, what…?” The words froze as I glanced down at my arm. A thin tube was taped to the back of my hand.
I swallowed. My throat felt dry and empty.
I stared for a moment, trying to decide on my next move then I acted.
My fingers reached for the tape, peeling it off my skin when the door suddenly opened and a loud voice hissed at me. “Don't.”
I raised my head to see a man in white coat suddenly at my side. He held my hand and pushed it away from my arm.
“Don't touch that,” he said like a robot. “That's only going to make everything worse.”
My lips parted. “Where…am I?”
“St. Helena's hospital,” he replied, watching my eyes closely. He blinked after what felt like ages. “You had an accident. Someone brought you in.”
Accident? That can't be real. I…
He picked up a small light and leaned closer. “I am going to run some tests on you.”
The light flashed on my eyes and he spoke. “Can you see me clearly?”
I nodded, keeping my eyes focused on the light.
“Good. Very good,” he said. And dropped the light. “I'll have the nurse check on you soon.”
The door burst open and I felt it. The air seemed to change. It becomes colder, and heavier.
The doctor straightened instantly, and turned his gaze to the doorway.
“Master, Xavier, you were supposed to wait outside,” he complained.
The man dressed in black from his neck to his foot, relaxed his shoulders and spoke calmly. “I got tired of waiting. How is she?”
His deep voice rang in my ears for a few seconds before I heard anything else.
“She's fine. Now leave,” the doctor warned.
Xavier's eyes turned cold and the doctor shuddered, taking a few steps back. “Leave?” He asked and the doctor gulped.
I stayed still, not knowing what to do as the doctor grip on the light tightened. “She needs to rest. Your presence is only going to disturb her.”
“Hmm,” Xavier breathed, then turned his face in my direction. His eyes locked on mine, the green part looking colder by the second. “She looks fine to me.”
“I haven't taken any other test yet,” the doctor explained.
“Why?” Xavier asked. I instantly disliked him. He made me want to disappear.
“Because…” the doctor began, his fingers pushing up his glasses like it would fall off his face. “You're here.”
“I'm not stopping you,” Xavier continued. “Carry on.”
“Yes, sir,” the doctor answered and walked closer to me. He picked a file from the table I hadn't noticed was beside me.
“Let's go over a few steps. Miss…” he said, looking at me.
I tilted my head, waiting for him to say a word but it didn't. He blinked then reset his glasses again. “What's your name?”
“My name?” I asked, confused.
“Yes,” the doctor replied.
My mind raced for answers, anything and I couldn't grasp one. “I don't know.”
“Holy hell,” the doctor murmured.
“What's the problem?” Xavier asked, finally pulling his gaze to the doctor.
“She's amnesiac.”
~
The nurse walked in and handed a parcel to the doctor. He took it and glanced at it once then at my face. “It says here, your name is Mira.”
He handed the ID to me, but Xavier grabbed it. “And does she remember anything else?” He asked.
I shook my head.
“She's showing signs of trauma induced amnesia,” the doctor said as he wrote quickly on his paper.
“How long will it last?” Xavier asked.
“I have no idea. Maybe a week. Two or even months.”
Were these two talking about me? I was in this room for God's sake.
Xavier threw the card on the bed, and adjusted his jacket. “Find out if she has a family. I'm leaving.”
The doctor ran after him and stopped as soon as Xavier turned to him. “What?” Xavier demanded in a low voice.
“And if she doesn't…?” The doctor asked.
Xavier's eyes narrowed to me and then at the doctor. “I'll handle that. Notify me when she's getting discharged.”
He walked out slamming the door on the doctor's face.
I watched the doctor give a fake smile then leave the room.
~
My hand bruised my hair before I rose to my feet. I was getting discharged.
I walked down the stairs, and out of the building when a black car stopped before me.
The window rolled down and a familiar face appeared. He took off his shades and turned to look at me.
“Get in,” he ordered.
“What?!” I spat. There was no freaking
way in hell I was going with some stranger to God knows where.
“Get in.”
“How about you get the fuck out of my face?!” I retorted and began walking away from the car.
I heard the car door clock open and I turned my head curiously to see behind me.
My body rose, pushed over a shoulder and I screamed. “Let me down! Put me down!”
I felt my body drop on the car's seat and I pushed myself up, rushed to grab the car's handle but it was stuck.
“Careful, now. You wouldn't want to fall off,” his deep voice rang behind me.
I froze solid, my hand dropping from the handle and I slowly turned to face him.
“Sit,” he ordered.
My body obeyed and his lips curled upward giving a wicked smile. “That's better, Mira.”
“Who the hell do you think you are to talk to me that way?” I lashed.
He remained calm and undid his jacket button. The black suit rested warmly on the seat.
“Would you like to find out?” He grunted. I felt anger and shifted in my seat, ready to yell when I noticed it. The gun by his waist.
My heart dropped. He caught my gaze and smiled brighter. “Let’s go home, shall we?”
Mira's POV I took a step back. “I... I'm sorry.”He took a step forward. I took another back.He looked down at my neck. His nostrils flared. A look of pure raw hunger flashed in his eyes.He leaned in. He inhaled sharply near my throat.“You smell of fear,” he growled. “And something else.”I gulped. I hit the edge of the table. I was trapped.“I'll send the baths to your room,” he said in a low voice. “You must use them.”“Okay,” I squeaked. “I will.”I turned to leave. I needed to get out of there.I saw it then. Dark veined lines creeping up the side of his neck. They pulsed like living things.Suddenly the dagger at my back jerked. It vibrated violently against my spine. It felt like it was trying to tear through the fabric of my dress. It wanted to fly out.I gasped and slapped my right hand behind my back to hold it down.Xavier’s head snapped up.“What is wrong?” he demanded.“Nothing,” I stammered. I pressed harder against the trashing metal. “I just... I feel itchy.”He nod
Mira’s POVI stared at the silver object in my palm. The weight of it felt wrong and heavy like it carried a soul of its own. My fingers traced the cold metal. The symbols etched into the blade seemed to hum against my skin. What the hell was I supposed to do with this?I flipped it over. The intricate carvings looked ancient. The sound of the door handle turning froze the blood in my veins.Panic slammed into my chest. I scrambled backward and shoved the dagger behind the folds of my dress just as the door creaked open. My hand pressed the cold metal against the small of my back to keep it in place.Maya poked her head in. Her blue eyes narrowed instantly as they swept over me. She stepped inside and closed the door with a soft click.“What are you hiding?” she asked. Her voice was sharp. Accusatory.I forced my posture to straighten. “Nothing.”“Liar,” she hissed. She walked toward me slowly. Her gaze dropped to my arm which was twisted awkwardly behind me. “Show me your hands.”My
Mira’s POV“Mira…” The voice pierced my dream. “Mira… wake up…”I rolled over in my bed, my chest tightening, my sweat breaking out on my skin. The voice didn’t stop. It got louder.“Mira!”I took a deep breath and sat up, my heart thuddling against my ribcage. The air around me seemed off.It was cold, unpleasant and a rough hand on my skin. And then I saw her. At the foot of my bed.I stared at her, my breath caught in my throat. Her dark short hair resting on her shoulders with bright eyes. The dark eyeliner gave her eyes a moon-like sheen in the darkness. “You did well to get into a home,” She breathed. I sat upright. She was real, wearing a long black gown covering her feet. One step from her made me scoot back on my bed until the back of my head bumped against the wooden headboard. “Who are you?” My heart was going crazy, but my voice came out normally. “How did you get into my room?”Her face contorted to a calm smile, but there was nothing friendly in the smile.“You real
Xavier's POV I stood up and grabbed a heavy glass decanter from the bar. I threw it at the wall, and it shattered, spilling glass and liquor everywhere. It wasn’t enough. I had to bleed. I had to hunt.My phone beeped, the screen bright. I picked it up and glanced through the screen. A picture of my stolen shipment and the others seized by the police stared back at me. The number was hidden and I bit back the inside of my cheeks. Another message popped up. “How do you like that, Xavier?” “Henrique,” I growled. He dared to try me. Another beep rang and I read the words. My anger grew with every letter. “We should work together. Not as partners of course. You'll be underneath me. After all, you are a half breed bastard.”That was it. If he wanted trouble. Then, I'll give it to him. I grabbed my leather jacket and helmet. “Don’t wait up for me,” I said to the butler as I strode past him to the garage. The engine of my bike roared to life as I started it up, driving out of the es
Xavier’s POV “Kill her! Taste her blood!” The demon’s voice echoed in my mind, and I lost my sanity.“No!” My wolf was roaring inside my head, fighting to be heard. “She is ours to protect!”My body was at war. My muscles were tense, my tendons stretched like bowstrings, and I was sweating profusely. I had her right where I wanted to. Mira was backed against the wall, her back pressed firmly against it. She was breathing rapidly, erratically. I could actually hear the beat of her heart. It was music to me.“Stay back!” Mira yelled, holding up her hands, which were shaking like the leaves on a tree swaying wildly in the wind. “Don’t touch me! I said stop!”And yet, I did not. The connection was like a magnet, and I was sucked in.I pounded my fists on the wall on both sides of her head, caging her in. She gasped at the shock of it, and her eyes went wide at the beast she was seeing.“You…you…” Mira stuttered, and tears filled her defiant eyes.I leaned in close, and I was greeted
Mira's POV I rolled to my side. I didn't sleep. I couldn't sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, I felt his hand around my throat again. I rubbed my neck. The pressure had died down long ago. Everything was wired to me. His eyes changed, the warning he gave. A knock hit the door and I sat up immediately. “I'm coming,” I said, rushing to the door and opening it. Standing there was Maya. She was a young maid about the same age as me with blonde hair. “Come out” she commanded. I didn't argue. “We have to attend to the master.”I paused. “The master. What happened to him?” She spoke fast. “He's not himself. Everyone has been trying to get him cooled off but it's not working.”“Mira, move your ass,” she yelled. I ran to her and followed her and stopped in front of the double doors. The door opened and three maids ran out crying. “What's wrong with them?” I asked. “Shh. Don't ask questions,” she whispered and walked in. I followed and the door closed. “We're here, master,” Maya said
