ログインMira's POV
The news came in five words. “Alpha! The shipment's gone!”
My pen froze on the paper for a second. I didn't look up from the document I was signing.
I twirled the pen, a less smooth, precise line, finishing the signature with a sharp flick of my wrist.
“Which one?” I asked gently as I set the pen tip down on the table. I raised my head, staring at the man talking beside me.
He wiped the sweat off his forehead and responded quickly. “The northern route Alpha. The police had gotten information that we would be there and seized the Rotterdam port.”
I stayed relaxed, biting down on my jaw.
“And the second deal?” I asked calmly.
His hesitation gave the answer. It was longer this time. “The Crimson Sparrows took it, Alpha.”
My hand tightened into fists and I slammed hard on the table. “How did they get it?”
My voice was cold but still low. The guard blinked, like he was having second thoughts on what to say. “I don't know, Alpha. The Crimson Sparrow's showed up before our men. It seems the Mexican syndicate switched hands.”
“Hmm,” I breathed. “That's unusual. And the police?”
“I feel someone informed them too,” He answered.
The pen snapped in my fingers. The room went quiet and I breathed in.
If I hadn't anything in this world. Then it was the betrayal from partners and anyone I trusted.
The Mexican syndicate was always neutral. The deal was to get there first but I also expected loyalty.
No one had ever beaten my men to a deal. Not ever. And that meant only one thing.
“Summon all the men that were present during the deal. I want to see them now!”
The man bowed and dashed out of the room. I stared at the table, the ink spilling from my hand to the paper.
Then I glanced at the big window. They had better not cross me.
~
The room was filled in minutes. The guard closed the door and I gestured for the men to take a seat at the long table.
“You summoned for us, Alpha,” the oldest among the men, probably in his late forties, spoke casually.
“Yes,” I answered, studying their faces. My men were mostly wolves, all killers and had sworn loyalty to me.
“Marco, bring the file,” I ordered. The guard bowed and walked over with the file, handing it to me.
I flipped the first pages then dropped it open on the table facing the men.
Everyone sighed, and crossed their hands.
“I believe you all know why you're here?” I breathed. They kept quiet and I continued. “Alright, let me go over it.”
I sat upright, and interlocked my fingers and spoke. “Does anyone care to tell me why there are missing funds and we have been losing shipments to the Crimson Sparrows?”
They turned in their seats, looking at each other. I kept talking. “And it's weird the police intercepted one of the deals.”
I lifted my eyes, letting my gaze drag over each face. “That kind of information does not leak by magic.”
A loud silence followed.
I glanced at Victor, the first one. He was bald with a red mustache. He had been in the circle for ten years. “Did you talk to anyone?”
I stopped in front of Viktor first. He was big. Scarred. Loyal for ten years.
“No, Alpha,” he said immediately, his face serious. “On my blood. I remain loyal to the pack.”
They all sang out the same answer. My wolf snarled, and I grew angry.
Did they think I was that stupid?
“Very well. Since you're all innocent,” I said, standing up from the seat and listening for their heartbeats. “I don't believe you all are innocent. Someone sold me out and I want answers.”
“If you confess now, I might make this quick and be forgiving,” I stopped, studying the movements on their faces.
No one spoke. That did it. Something crawled inside my chest, released the ugly, wicked being inside.
My wolf snarled again., “No! Xavier, don't let him out!”
I did. My demon took control as I walked out of my seat. “Since you all want to lie. Then let's finish this.”
A heavy wind blew around the room, turning it dark for a second. My eyes felt different, redder.
They panicked, not moving from their seats but staring in horror. The demon crawled up in my skin and in seconds, I was standing at the second to the right end of the table.
My hand rested on the blonde man, the shadow rising with my body. He shook, and I spoke. “Andre. Why did you do it?”
Andre gulped, his voice trembling. “Alpha, I…”
I didn't let him finish and present claws into his skin. He groaned and pushed himself away, his wolf taking his form and he lunged.
I was quicker, catching him in the air, my long claws around his neck and slamming him against the wall. His wolf returned to his human form quickly, shivering.
“I hate lies,” I grunted, my nails digging
deeper and his screams filled the room.
The sounds of bones breaking and blood spilled on the room.
I took out my napkin and cleaned my hand then walked back to my seat. The men stared in horror at me.
My demon purred lazily, “I need more.”
“You'll have none,” I replied back. My head hurts with a loud headache.
“Xavier, you shouldn't have killed him,” My wolf complained. “You're feeding the demon.”
“He deserved it,” my demon argued.
“Shut up!” I yelled inside and raised my gaze to the men, blocking out the voices.
“I want all border controls tightened. See to it that this doesn't happen again. Am I clear?!”
“Yes, Alpha!!!” They answered in union
.
“You can leave,” I said. They stood up and headed for the door but I stopped them. “Wait.”
They halted and I pointed to the body of the dead man. “Get rid of him.”
Mira's POV I took a step back. “I... I'm sorry.”He took a step forward. I took another back.He looked down at my neck. His nostrils flared. A look of pure raw hunger flashed in his eyes.He leaned in. He inhaled sharply near my throat.“You smell of fear,” he growled. “And something else.”I gulped. I hit the edge of the table. I was trapped.“I'll send the baths to your room,” he said in a low voice. “You must use them.”“Okay,” I squeaked. “I will.”I turned to leave. I needed to get out of there.I saw it then. Dark veined lines creeping up the side of his neck. They pulsed like living things.Suddenly the dagger at my back jerked. It vibrated violently against my spine. It felt like it was trying to tear through the fabric of my dress. It wanted to fly out.I gasped and slapped my right hand behind my back to hold it down.Xavier’s head snapped up.“What is wrong?” he demanded.“Nothing,” I stammered. I pressed harder against the trashing metal. “I just... I feel itchy.”He nod
Mira’s POVI stared at the silver object in my palm. The weight of it felt wrong and heavy like it carried a soul of its own. My fingers traced the cold metal. The symbols etched into the blade seemed to hum against my skin. What the hell was I supposed to do with this?I flipped it over. The intricate carvings looked ancient. The sound of the door handle turning froze the blood in my veins.Panic slammed into my chest. I scrambled backward and shoved the dagger behind the folds of my dress just as the door creaked open. My hand pressed the cold metal against the small of my back to keep it in place.Maya poked her head in. Her blue eyes narrowed instantly as they swept over me. She stepped inside and closed the door with a soft click.“What are you hiding?” she asked. Her voice was sharp. Accusatory.I forced my posture to straighten. “Nothing.”“Liar,” she hissed. She walked toward me slowly. Her gaze dropped to my arm which was twisted awkwardly behind me. “Show me your hands.”My
Mira’s POV“Mira…” The voice pierced my dream. “Mira… wake up…”I rolled over in my bed, my chest tightening, my sweat breaking out on my skin. The voice didn’t stop. It got louder.“Mira!”I took a deep breath and sat up, my heart thuddling against my ribcage. The air around me seemed off.It was cold, unpleasant and a rough hand on my skin. And then I saw her. At the foot of my bed.I stared at her, my breath caught in my throat. Her dark short hair resting on her shoulders with bright eyes. The dark eyeliner gave her eyes a moon-like sheen in the darkness. “You did well to get into a home,” She breathed. I sat upright. She was real, wearing a long black gown covering her feet. One step from her made me scoot back on my bed until the back of my head bumped against the wooden headboard. “Who are you?” My heart was going crazy, but my voice came out normally. “How did you get into my room?”Her face contorted to a calm smile, but there was nothing friendly in the smile.“You real
Xavier's POV I stood up and grabbed a heavy glass decanter from the bar. I threw it at the wall, and it shattered, spilling glass and liquor everywhere. It wasn’t enough. I had to bleed. I had to hunt.My phone beeped, the screen bright. I picked it up and glanced through the screen. A picture of my stolen shipment and the others seized by the police stared back at me. The number was hidden and I bit back the inside of my cheeks. Another message popped up. “How do you like that, Xavier?” “Henrique,” I growled. He dared to try me. Another beep rang and I read the words. My anger grew with every letter. “We should work together. Not as partners of course. You'll be underneath me. After all, you are a half breed bastard.”That was it. If he wanted trouble. Then, I'll give it to him. I grabbed my leather jacket and helmet. “Don’t wait up for me,” I said to the butler as I strode past him to the garage. The engine of my bike roared to life as I started it up, driving out of the es
Xavier’s POV “Kill her! Taste her blood!” The demon’s voice echoed in my mind, and I lost my sanity.“No!” My wolf was roaring inside my head, fighting to be heard. “She is ours to protect!”My body was at war. My muscles were tense, my tendons stretched like bowstrings, and I was sweating profusely. I had her right where I wanted to. Mira was backed against the wall, her back pressed firmly against it. She was breathing rapidly, erratically. I could actually hear the beat of her heart. It was music to me.“Stay back!” Mira yelled, holding up her hands, which were shaking like the leaves on a tree swaying wildly in the wind. “Don’t touch me! I said stop!”And yet, I did not. The connection was like a magnet, and I was sucked in.I pounded my fists on the wall on both sides of her head, caging her in. She gasped at the shock of it, and her eyes went wide at the beast she was seeing.“You…you…” Mira stuttered, and tears filled her defiant eyes.I leaned in close, and I was greeted
Mira's POV I rolled to my side. I didn't sleep. I couldn't sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, I felt his hand around my throat again. I rubbed my neck. The pressure had died down long ago. Everything was wired to me. His eyes changed, the warning he gave. A knock hit the door and I sat up immediately. “I'm coming,” I said, rushing to the door and opening it. Standing there was Maya. She was a young maid about the same age as me with blonde hair. “Come out” she commanded. I didn't argue. “We have to attend to the master.”I paused. “The master. What happened to him?” She spoke fast. “He's not himself. Everyone has been trying to get him cooled off but it's not working.”“Mira, move your ass,” she yelled. I ran to her and followed her and stopped in front of the double doors. The door opened and three maids ran out crying. “What's wrong with them?” I asked. “Shh. Don't ask questions,” she whispered and walked in. I followed and the door closed. “We're here, master,” Maya said
