Cassia’s POV

His teal orbs darkened, fierce and hungry, as he resumed the kiss with a renewed fire.

I tried to match his pace, feeling his arms roam around my body, searching for the zipper of my dress. Without breaking the kiss, he ripped it apart, along with my brassiere, and latched his warm lips around my bud. I threw my head back, a loud moan escaping my lips as I cradled his head.

“Karl,” I called out his name like a plea, my body unusually eager and wet for him, even though he had barely begun to touch me.

“Get on the bed,” he ordered, releasing me with a soft pop.

Trembling from pleasure and almost purring at his commanding tone, I obeyed.

Settling into the bed, I watched as he approached me stealthily, like a predator savoring the sight of his vulnerable prey.

His eyes blazed amber as he practically lunged at me, parting my thighs and giving my undergarments the same treatment as my dress. Heat pooled from my core as he placed the backs of my thighs onto his broad sh

Cassia’s POV “It doesn’t heal later?” He asked, genuinely unaware. Lazily stroking my back in a up and down motion.“You can’t just break a human’s bone and expect it to heal immediately.”I told him.He had to be joking. We were cuddling, naked under the sheets, and I wasn’t sure how we got to this conversation about how ‘feeble’ and ‘fickle’ humans can be. Ever since he saw the light bruise I had acquired on my wrist from where he pinned me, he kept asking questions about how we ‘heal.’Shrugging at my response, he said, “I’m not exactly known for my tolerance towards your kind, so I wouldn’t really understand how their body works. It would be so easy to break them in an interrogation room.” He mumbled the last sentence. Was he seriously ruining this serene mood with gory talks? “You’re seriously talking about torturing people right now?” I sprang up to confront him, only to wince at the soreness between my legs. Of course, I would be sore after exploding four times in a night, in

Karl’s POV “Make sure to give him a few drops of blood in a few hours,” I directed Reckon, instructing him to keep the prisoner I just wound up a little alive. “We’ll continue this session tomorrow.” I needed to get back to Cassia. On my way to my quarters, Reckon interrupted, calling my attention to a possible spy we had captured a few days ago. I had told her to get ready for dinner and start without me,I’d join later. The vampire had claimed he would confess only to me, but upon my arrival, the idiot just laughed in my face, calling me an excuse for a king. He clearly wanted a quick end, but I had somewhere more important to be, so I let him go after a few punches. “My king,” Reckon said, stopping me from approaching the dining room. “What now?” I asked exasperated at this point. He jerked his head towards my shirt and I saw the crimson splatters on them. Shit! I needed to change… or just take a quick shower. I pulled my pants up, reaching for my shirt when her scent hit

  • Hybrid King: A Royal Affair    Chapter 33

Cassia’s POV “The king requests your presence,” he said. “Follow me.” I blinked in shock before hastily leaving my friends to chase after the guard, who didn’t even give me a chance to process, reject, or accept the command—not that I had a choice anyway. “Where are you taking me?” I asked, alarmed. This wasn’t a route I had taken before, and it wasn’t leading to the king’s quarters but outside the palace building to the infamous lake beside it. The servants in the laundry section had a story about this lake, but not this exact side. It was said that if you neared the lake at nighttime—to pick up a cloth or basket you forgot—you could encounter activities that could either lead to your demise or trauma. Years ago, a girl was found washed up after being missing for days. Rumors said she wandered too close to the prohibited side of the lake and disturbed the king’s quiet, so he drowned her. I’d say he keeps getting unnecessary blame, but they'd pounce on me. “Why are we going

Cassia’s pov“Exactly what I thought when I heard this case. This is about to get so much fun.”He murmured the last sentence, but I caught it.What was he planning now?“Why would two servant girls be so stupid as to put their lives in danger just to return to the palace that they were desperately running from?” he asked rhetorically, continuing, “Especially when they know the punishment for runaways is really brutal.” He shook his head.“Doesn’t make sense.”A few seconds of silence passed before Landon gave a firm nod to the king’s gaze, and the doors were flung open. A soldier dragged two men across the floor by their hair, leaving a trail of blood in their wake.It looked painful enough for me to pity them, but after he dropped them roughly, I looked closely and recognized the men.The idiots who had been working with Erin at the market. But why were they bleeding? Supernaturals—especially vampires—healed faster.Except... they were given substances to slow that ability. The king

  • Hybrid King: A Royal Affair    Chapter 31

Cassia’s POV “For this disciplinary hearing, remember all your courtesy training and put it to use.” A maiden addressed Diane and me as we stood before the courtroom door. “Don’t give them a chance to vent their frustrations on you.” With that, she left. “She makes it sound like we’re walking to our doom,” Diane whispered, glancing at the two soldiers guarding the imposing double doors, intricately carved with the kingdom's crest. My peaceful morning sleep in the maiden room of the king’s quarters had been abruptly interrupted, and now my heart raced at the thought of what might happen if Erin had prepared better and the people believed him. Diane’s presence was reassuring. We gasped in unison as the soldiers suddenly straightened and pulled open the doors, clearly signaling us to enter. Gripping each other’s hands for support, we stepped forward slowly. I couldn’t resist glancing around, marveling at the grandeur of the hall. Despite the intimidating supernatural faces, everyt
