Chapter fifty-nine: The approach
“What you're proposing to me is impossible,” Captain Mulligan told Norma when he suggested baiting one of Zander's concubines to get to him.
“Think about it, Captain,” Norma insisted. “That's how Brooke Daniels was kidnapped. We would use one of our flashier officers to lure them in and−”
“And die in the process!” Mulligan exclaimed annoyed at the detective's insistence. “We could set a trap for them as you say, but we have seen that these creatures are very agile and fast. They would take our agent with them and kill her when they suspect or find out that she was part of a trap!”
Norma could not continue insisting with the captain, at least for the moment. She would have to come up with a plan effective enough to get to Zander and not put the life of an agent at risk.
She decided to go back to Daniel Ranlone to get more information about what happened that night when his girlfriend was kid

The vampires escaped through the basement windows of the abandoned house and returned to Zander to be assigned a new lair where they could hide. They were two young men, between sixteen and twenty years old. They couldn't talk to him, since Andrew, who was on his way out, asked them why they were in that house if it was forbidden, and even more so if it wasn't Zander's; they told him the police had gone to search the abandoned house and they had no choice but to flee the place.
