Groban POV
I found myself pacing back and forth trying to think of what to do, when suddenly I heard a knock at the door, my eyes shot up and I immediately hurried to go and unlock it, too my relief I saw Ward standing there. I let out a sigh of relief, I knew he would come looking for me eventually, it had been two days and I hadn’t left the cabin at all.
Laya had fainted in my arms two days ago and hadn’t woken up since then, faint groans would escape her lips every now and then and I had tried countless times to wake her up but she just wouldn’t open her eyes.
I would have gone to fetch Ward sooner but I was too scared to leave her alone after what had happened with Dax. I hated him for what he had done, he had no right to touch Laya and even though we were brothers, we were nothing alike.

Laya POV I felt myself slowly waking up from a warm dream, in my dream all I could smell was him and I wanted to drown in it. Smiling softly as I thought about this my eyes fluttered open as a small gasp escaped my lips, Groban was lying right in front of me which startled me somewhat. The following morning Groban woke me up really early, by early I mean somewhere around 4:30 am, it was still dark out and winter was nearing so the chill in the air alone kept me closest to the fireplace when I wasn’t in Groban’s arms. He quickly got me dressed in long black leggings, a pair of black combat boots, a blue long sleeve t-shirt and a grey denim hooded jacket that fit me snuggly. Looking up as I stood before him in the kitchen he quickly slid a mustard color beanie onto my head as he gave me a once over clearly satisfied with the outcome, “This should do,” he nodded to himself more than to me. I could see he was apprehensive of taking me out with him but there was something else, he seemed distracted and edgy in a way that I hadn’t seem from him and I wondered why that was. Laya’s POV Groban lead us back toward the brothers clan boarders, back to the village, and with each passing step I felt myself reluctant to go back there. Right now he wouldn’t look at me, he wouldn’t even speak to me, instead we just kept walking with me following behind him in a state of unwitting silence. Groban POV I must have fallen asleep after I sat back against the wall watching her sleep.
