Frustration

Groban's POV

Slamming the door hard behind me, I stood clenching my fists as I stared down at the ground. She fed on rats, she fucking fed on rats to sustain her hunger for blood.

I could feel this impending rage begin to pulsate through my entire body towards tribe Taulantii, closing my eyes for a moment I instantly thought back to the moment I found her hiding in that kitchen, her appearance and complete horror struck face as I stared down at her from behind those boxes, what the fuck had they done to her! Opening my eyes I smirked as I thought back to the moment chief Rann was on his knees begging for his life just as he was about to be executed, even though I didn’t enjoy the idea of butchering human tribes, he dam well got what he deserved.

I couldn’t stop this deep aching pull I felt toward Laya, I didn’t understand it but I knew it had to do with her being a hybrid. Taking a deep breath I stepped off the porch toward a pile of logs lying on the ground, my axe still imbedded in the stump from the last time I chopped wood. Yanking the axe free, I lifted a piece of wood and placed it on the stump, taking a swing at it the log effortlessly split in half. I needed to get rid of not only the anger I felt toward those who had clearly abused this girl but also the energy pull I kept feeling whenever I was around her. I hadn’t planned on bringing any girl to my cottage ever let alone a hybrid, if anyone in my clan ever knew what she was… the thought made a shiver run down my spine.

I was twenty two years old and in the eyes of everyone here including my father who was the leader of our clan of brothers, I was way overdue in taking a woman for myself. I didn’t want the hassles of bringing a girl here as my prisoner, I had enough problems just keeping my older brother Dax in line. As I was about to take another swing at a log I heard a familiar sly voice come from just opposite my cabin,

“Hey baby brother, if you swing any harder you might split that whole stump in half,” looking up I saw Dax standing on his porch holding a cup of what I assumed to be coffee as he smirked at me. I just ignored him as I lined up another log, “Trouble in paradise?” he grinned but I didn’t answer, “You know Groban, those things need to be broken in like the animals they are, if you need a hand I could always show you how,” his grin grew wider. Staring up at him I finally lowered the axe to the stump, even though we were brothers Dax and I looked nothing alike, same father different mothers. Dax had blonde hair that hung down his face, he was scrawnier than me and his whole demeanor on treating woman like animals pissed me off more than it should have I guess. Taking a deep breath I just shook my head at him,

“I’m sure you’ve got your hands full Dax, what with six, no sorry now seven of your own woman,” scoffing he stepped leisurely down his front porch toward me,

“I can handle allot more than that baby brother,” tilting my head slightly I looked over his shoulder at four of his woman tied up at the wrists and gagged just outside his front door, they were filthy and suffering from malnutrition, narrowing my eyes I quickly shook my head before again picking up my axe,

“I’m good thanks Dax, I’ve got it under control,” letting out a laugh he steadily turned as he started making his way back toward his cabin,

“Just give me a shout if you change your mind,” he said over his shoulder, clenching my jaw I just ignored him.

I had chopped a hefty pile of wood which should last me at least two weeks, winter was creeping in and soon we would be knee deep in snow, I had allot of work to do before that happened to ensure I had enough to get us through. Looking up toward the cabin door I wiped away the sweat from my forehead before steadily making my way toward it, I needed a shower, it was nearly ten in the morning and I wondered if Laya had finally consumed the blood I had left on the kitchen table for her, she was a hybrid, half vampire and half werewolf, at least I assumed she knew that about herself, after what she said earlier however, I wasn’t too sure she actually understood what she was at all. I found it difficult to understand how she could have gone through life not doing what came naturally to her.

Walking through the front door I closed it as I was instantly hit with a sensual wave almost too overpowering to control, I steadied myself as I took a deep breath, this just made it worse. ‘Mountain dew,’ I mumbled to myself as I closed my eyes. What the hell was wrong with me, reopening my eyes I focused on the source of the ache within my gut and saw her lying snuggled up beneath the blanket I had given her, her eyes were closed and her body seemed at peace, smiling softly as I watched her I quickly tried to shake off this feeling I had escalating from deep inside of me. I didn’t understand what was going on with me, I had never had something like this happen to me before.

Making my way toward the kitchen I instantly frowned as I looked down at the table, the glass of blood still stood there untouched, the other bags of blood the same. I looked down at the plate before me, my frown deepened as I stared at the untouched sand which before me. She hadn’t eaten a thing, this realization instantly irritated me as I turned and marched toward her. I was angry, no, I was pissed off. How did she think she was going to keep a stable level head let alone survive if she didn’t eat or feed, yanking the blanket from her I abruptly pulled her up onto her feet by her wrist as I stared her down, she gasped as her eyes instantly widened in shock from her sleep,

“You haven’t eaten, I thought we understood each other Laya, you have to feed!” I scolded her in a tone slightly more agitated than I had intended on using. Her bottom lip quivered as she stared at me in silence, suddenly tears started running down her cheeks. Ah shit, dam it Groban what are you doing! I made her cry, I didn’t mean to make her cry it’s just, she has to feed, if she doesn’t then her whole body will start to shut down and she’ll lose her mind. Instantly lowering her wrist as I still held onto it I sighed deeply,

“I’m sorry, okay, it’s just… when is the last time that you fed?” Her voice sounded shaky as she swallowed hard,

“Four days ago,” she breathed. Feeling fresh annoyance I narrowed my eyes at her I immediately started pulling her behind me toward the kitchen. Letting go of her wrist I straight away opened up a fresh bag of blood before pouring it into a clean glass,

“Drink it Laya, I’m not kidding this time!” I snapped as I held the glass up toward her. Swallowing hard she clenched her jaw as she wrapped her arms around herself, tears still flowing down her cheeks. I instantly felt the aching pull draw me toward her but I ignored it, I was too pissed off with her general self-neglect. I stared hard at her but she merely took a step back, “Laya, drink!” shaking her head she wiped away at the tears against her cheeks,

“No,” she murmured. My eyes narrowed as I stared at her, smirking I gently placed the glass down against the table before steadily taking a step toward her, she gulped as she stared up at me. I came to stand right in front of her and the pull I felt right at that moment made me gasp. Swallowing hard I felt like it would completely consume me, so I speedily headed straight past her toward the front door without giving her a second glance. I needed fresh air now! I thought to myself as I slammed the door behind me.
