Kael’s POV

The moment I heard the sound of leaves crushing under hurried boots, my instincts kicked in.

Someone had seen us.

This was dangerous.

I tore out of the warehouse without thinking, the night air biting against my skin as I sprinted into the trees. My eyes darted left, then right, locking on a shadow dressed in all black with a small back pack bolting through the trees ahead.

Too fast. Just like lightning. I was fast myself which is one of the reasons why I have always caught every spy Damian sent after me in the past but this… person is different.

Whoever it was knew how to move in the dark. Silent. Light-footed. But not fast enough to avoid being caught had I been prepared.

“Hey!” I roared, jumping over a fallen log. My feet slammed into the earth, the adrenaline coursing through my veins.

But the figure slipped deeper into the trees, weaving like smoke.

I ran harder.

Branches whipped across my chest. My dagger was clenched in my hand. I would kill whoever it was.
