I didn’t say anything.

My hands stayed folded in my lap. My eyes locked on a crack in the car’s dashboard. It was easier than looking at him. But Andrew wasn’t willing to let it slide. He scoffed and continued with his tirades.

“You really are good at pretending.”

I kept still. If he was provoking me to say anything, well, I won’t. I plan not to. He won’t hear anything from me especially upon knowing that he already built an inappropriate image of me inside his head.

His next words proved that.

“No wonder people look at me with pity. I’ve been living with a fraud. A woman who plays innocent at home and flaunts herself outside. You’re a slut, Emma. That’s what you are.”
