His words shattered me from the inside. Was I not strong enough? Was I too weak as a woman to survive without a man?
Would I not be able to protect my pack and my family from the deadly enemies?
The fear of the man behind me, combined with the fear of losing my family, clenched my insides.
I sensed the man move from behind.
'Is he going to kill me now?' I thought.
However, he did not touch me. I could hear his footsteps moving from behind to ahead until I heard the sound of bones breaking.
It made me tremble from the inside.
He had shifted!
I heard a loud thud, as if the man had transformed into a massive wolf and jumped to the ground.
Even though I could not see anything, I could imagine what was going on around me.
The wolf growled loudly, almost shaking the trees in the forest. Then he began running forward as if he were leaving.
I dared not to remove my blindfold.
The other wolves began to follow him as I heard the sound of running from both sides.
Before long, the silence fell around me.
I did not move for quite some time.
When I felt my legs were hurting, I slowly lifted my hand and took off the blindfold.
When the black cloth slid down my face, it touched my nose. My nostrils picked up the scent of a wolf, which caused my breath to slow down.
I had never encountered this scent before. It was a deep and alluring Alpha scent that could tarnish men and ruin women.
I suddenly recalled what the unknown man had told me before leaving.
He had just threatened to kill me and my family. He mocked me for getting remarried.
My fingers gripped the black cloth tightly. I felt a rush of rage pass through me.
I took a look around myself. There was no one in the forest except me and my car.
I got into the car and decided to defy my fate.
I did not go to the village. Instead, I drove the car out of the forest and headed back to the pack house.
When I stepped into the pack house, I found my mother-in-law pacing back and forth in the dining room.
When a maid noticed me entering the pack house, she spoke up.
"Luna, you are back!"
It grabbed my mother-in-law Clara's attention.
Clara looked stunned as she turned to face me.
She rushed to me and asked,
"Is the wedding completed?"
I glanced at the large clock on a wall. It appeared that I had been in the forest for nearly an hour. It was midnight, so Clara assumed the wedding was over.
My gaze returned to her. I shook my head slowly.
Her eyes lit up. "Why?"
I lowered my head, murmuring, "Mom, I don't want to marry anyone."
She pulled me into a hug and patted my back. "You are right. You should not marry anyone. You are my son's wife."
Clara inquired as to how I had fled from the wedding. I reported the attack to her. But I did not tell her everything in detail. I just told her that I had escaped from the enemies.
Clara informed our family about me. Soon, they came back to the pack house.
Fraser rushed toward me as soon as he walked into the house.
"Do you know how worried I was? I am sorry, Violet. I should not have left you to go alone."
Clara scoffed from next to me. "Really? Is this how you will protect Luna of this pack?"
Fraser turned his attention to Clara. "Aunt, I did not want anything to happen to her. I understand it was my fault. I will be more careful from now on."
"No need."
Before Fraser could ask any questions, my father-in-law, Wesley, asked,
"What do you mean, Clara?"
Clara looked at her husband with a grin and replied, "Because the Luna of this pack doesn't want to marry anyone right now."
Everyone's attention shifted to me. The entire time, I remained silent. So when they looked at me, I lowered my head even more.
"Violet, what is Clara saying?" My mother asked as she rushed over to me.
My father frowned at Clara and remarked, “She is a child. But you can lead her to a good—”
Clara shook her head. "I will not lead her into someone else's life. She is my son's wife and will always be. And by the way, Fraser is our family's son. How could she get married to her brother-in-law? She can't live with her husband's brother. That is such a shame!"
Grandpa Elias and Grandma Lily approached me. They tried to persuade me again. But I did as Clara had instructed me before they returned.
She told me to be quiet because she would handle everything.
"You can not manipulate her again."
Wesley gave Clara a glare. "Don't forget that I am still alive. You can't make a decision when I—"
Clara raised her hand and said,
"Don't forget that I am the former Luna of the pack. I still have some power in my hands. As the former Luna, I can defend the current Luna and oppose you if you force her. It would be my decision, as my son was the Alpha of this pack before his death."
Everyone fell silent when Clara raised her voice. I could see Fraser tightening his fists in defeat.
"From now on, Violet will live the widow's life."
My mother and grandma Lily gasped. They shook their heads, their eyes filled with sadness.
They claimed that widowhood was the most difficult life, almost like being held captive.
Clara turned to me and said, "Go change out of this bridal gown and put on something appropriate for a widow. You do not need color in your life; my son's blood should always remind you of where you belong."
I raised my head to meet everyone's sad gaze, including Fraser's.
I gave him a sad smile because I believed he deserved an explanation.
"I am sorry, Fraser. I don't want to marry you or any other man in my life. My life belongs to your brother. I will always be your brother's widow.”
At the Collins CompanyDaniel was seated behind a large wooden desk. His look was menacing, and his frown was deep enough to let everyone in the room know how angry he was."And what can I do about it, Gamma Cloy?"His voice was deep and sharp, warning others not to mess with him at that moment. The four men who were standing near the desk lowered their heads. They were the four officials of the Scarlet Howl Pack.Gamma Cloy lifted his gaze when he heard Daniel. He tried to show some confidence as he said,"You have been the head Alpha of this pack for five years. You should know what has been our pack's top priority for the past two decades."Daniel's expression darkened as he looked at the young man who dared to speak. He chuckled and raised his hand to reach for his black tie.He loosened it while looking into Cloy's eyes. "Is that so? Now the gamma will teach me what my priorities should be?"Cloy immediately dropped his head. All of the confidence he had shown faded away by the i
Alpha Raymond and Luna Aida were shocked. Violet smiled at them sarcastically."I heard she has a boyfriend. Why are you forcing her to get another man? She has chosen her own path. Don't you think so?"Alpha Raymond's eyes widened. "Luna Violet, you are misunderstanding—"Violet rose from the chair and cut him off."I welcomed you in my pack, arranged the meeting, and thought that you were unbiased. But it seems you have already set your target on someone."She glanced at Evan, who was staring at Alpha Raymond while listening to her."Maybe he is also interested. So..." she paused, glancing at Luna Aida, and continued,"Congratulations to you both."Luna Aida shook her head. There was no way they could afford to offend Violet Easton. What Violet was saying was true, but they could not accept that in front of others.Alpha Raymond felt angry. In front of the dignified Alphas, Violet had damaged their reputation by disclosing about their daughter's boyfriend. They would never be intere
Alpha Evan shifted his gaze from Violet and turned his attention to Alpha Raymond. His sharp brows and clean, chiseled jawline moved a little. He raised his brows in response and then let out his calm voice."I have some other reasons to come here."Violet ignored the man's gaze on her from the beginning. But when Alpha Raymond spoke to him, she had to turn her head at Evan like other people. When her eyes locked with Evan's, his eyes lit up. He observed her face for a moment, then he said,"It's been a while, Luna Violet."Violet kept her gaze on him for a while. She examined his expression, trying to find hostilities in his eyes. However, they looked excited. She gave him a slight nod, neglecting his past actions."You are right, Alpha Evan. Welcome to the Crimson Howl Pack," she said with a delicate voice.Alpha Evan looked away from her and nodded his head in response. He was a young man in his late twenties. He was a prosperous pack leader and one of the best businessmen. He was
A shiny white car pulled up in front of the Crimson Howl Pack's five-star restaurant. The driver got out of the car and opened the back door. A pair of white heels stepped out of the car.The passerby turned their attention only to see a young lady in an elegant white dress emerge from the car. They could not recognize her as she was not active on social media. However, the aura she had made them understand that she was someone big.A few businessmen who had come to the restaurant recognized her with wide eyes. Only the Alphas of the pack and the well-known businessmen knew her identity since they had met her."Luna?""She is here!""Is there an important event taking place here?"Gossip spread throughout the air. The restaurant's owner had come tonight specifically to welcome their Luna, Violet Easton.Violet walked into the restaurant gracefully. Her gaze was fixed ahead, and she ignored the others who were staring at her.Women envied her beauty and power, while men were both amuse
Violet's brows arched when she heard Sam.Alpha Evan was one of her rival Alphas. He had previously blackmailed her several times when her family members wanted to stay there. Because of their safety, she had signed a deal of trade with his pack. After that deal, he never created any problems for anyone."Zion had told me about it a few days ago," Violet mumbled as she recalled her brother's words.Sam stood straight and nodded his head. His duty was to let her know about it.He bowed his head and left Violet's room. The other officials looked at Violet, waiting for her to speak."You can focus on the pack business. Tonight, I will try my best to grab the chance to get the deal. Maybe Alpha Raymond and Luna Aida will consider our proposal."Beta Vance glanced at the other officials, who nodded their heads. Violet noticed that they wanted to say something but were afraid to speak."Say it," she said, grabbing one of the files lying on the bed."Luna, we have heard that Alpha Raymond an
Daniel would have died if a single look had the power to kill. Anyone would have been shaken by the way the woman in front of him looked at him calmly and coldly. However, before her was the Alpha Daniel. He was a man of mystery. A man who possessed no noble blood, emotion, or heart, but only an evil soul.He believed the woman in front of him was quite amusing. He liked to play with her. Her coldness made him feel more interested in her.His hand slid into his pocket, and he took out a white handkerchief.Violet's expression changed when her gaze drew to it. It was her handkerchief that she wrapped around his wound last night. She recalled taking it off before bandaging his wound. Then, when did he take it with him?It did not look bloody like last night with his blood. Instead, it looked clean as if someone had washed the piece of cloth. Her gaze lingered on the letter "V" on the handkerchief. It was right on the edge of the border. If someone saw it, they would immediately find out
