Ella's POV

I slipped the last stroke of gloss across my lips and smacked them together lightly.

"Hmm. Nice job, Ella," I muttered to myself, admiring my reflection and taking a quick moment to glance at the finished Elder's reflection.

It was perfect, as always. But I was not even close to being done. Not yet.

My heels clicked softly against the stone floor as I crossed over to the smart TV mounted on the wall. I pressed a few buttons and the blue screen flickered to life. Then I pulled a small hard drive from my purse, chuckling as I slipped it into the slot. The device blinked, then synced instantly.

Next on, I moved to the corner of the room where the stone wall met the ceiling. From there, I plucked out a camera I had placed strategically when I walked into the room at first. It was tiny, almost invisible, it's lens still warm from hours of recording. I chuckled again, turning back slowly. I cradled the device that made all the difference in my palm like a jewel.

  • I Am The Alpha's Rejected Mate    Chapter 237

Jayden's POVThe warrior that stepped forward was broad shouldered and also scarred across his left cheek. He had hard, piercing eyes, and it carried the weight of the many battles that he had fought. A valiant warrior was he. He bowed his head respectfully despite the very lack of reverence in his movements. Then he straightened with a heavy breath. "Alpha," he began in a tone low but carrying with it a sort of challenge that was truly unmistakable. "I thank you for all this. You have indeed ignited our damp souls by reminding us of the battles we shared, of the blood that we all spilled as one. There are no truer words, my Alpha."The sharpness of his tone and the impact of his words seemed to make a hush to fall in the chamber, all eyes turning to him even as he paused. He continued, "we need to be objective in all these, my Alpha. We need to know what our problem actually is! "The murmurs that followed this final statement were sharper now, edged mostly with agreement." Our p

Ella's POV The car screeched to a halt at the corner of the road, gravel crunching beneath the tires. I felt my chest heaving as I turned to Liam, my brow furrowed in confusion. "Why did you stop?" He gave no immediate reply, and I turned around and noted the surroundings. The West wing of the pack, the very field that was left deserted after the battle with the Sentinel. I was hell sure that even if I let out the loudest cry, no one would come to my rescue. I was stuck with–I had hardly thought of his name when I felt his fingers brushing against with such tenderness that fully contradicted the fury in his eyes. Then, a slow, predatory smile spread across his face, one made me hitch. I stared into his dark, burning eyes. "What do you want from me, Liam?" "You really want to know?" He asked, the smile on his face momentarily leaving before it returned again. "Hell yes I–" I paused as I instantly recognized the flicker of raw lust lurking in his eyes. "Liam–" I started at a wh

  • I Am The Alpha's Rejected Mate    Chapter 235

Jayden's POVDavid's question lingered in my mind long after I left the chamber, and by dawn, I found myself standing in a different silence, one that was far heavier. We called it the Chamber of Stone, or that of 'life and death'. Its walls didn't depict the sophistication of our current dispensation, its walls carved with the scars of age and torches flickering against them. This caused the casting of shadows that danced across the stern faces of the werewolves that gathered before me. My warriors. Once my shield in time of death, and now my greatest threat, if they chose wrongly that is. My palms tightened behind my back as I stood square before them. A silver of nerves did I feel up in my chest, sharp and truly unwelcome. But I forced my shoulders to remain square. No, I couldn't afford to falter now. That would mean that I was giving myself away, for no warrior appreciated fear. Oh, damn it. Ella and Liam had done well–all too well in poisoning my image among these warriors.

  • I Am The Alpha's Rejected Mate    Chapter 234

Ella's POV"Why, Vagmos!" Lady Vagmos roared, her voice cracking with intense fury. "Why in the name of the sacred moon goddess does this place reek of sex– when the to-be Supreme Luna herself is here? You're fucking stupid!" Her chest heaved violently as she spun around, her eyes wide and bloodshot. "Couldn't you even care to clean the place up before she comes? You shameless dog! Do you want to disgrace us before the entire council?!" At least she knew nothing, and that calmed me. But during all these, I wondered why she asked me to wait. Perhaps she wanted to show me that she disapproved of the smell of 'sex' in her sitting room. Such a bitch. The Elder's trembling hands rose as though he might calm her nerves, but she only lunged again, another heavy slap from her cutting the air. He barely ducked in time, and her fat palm only whistled past his head. The second blow from her landed against the edge of the mantle instead, and this knocked a ceramic ornament to the ground where

Ella's POV"Let the kids sleep," I said, lifting a hand and halting lady Vagmos politely. "The little ones need their rest more than they need to see me right now. Who am I to interrupt their rest anyways?" "Oh, say no more, my lady," the Elder's wife countered, shaking her head much more than normal. "You're worth much more than that. I'd wake them up if you wish. It's a rare opportunity to see such elegance as you are in our little household." "No, please don't," I insisted. Let the sleeping dogs fucking lie! She nodded eagerly, clearly pleased with my restraint. I ignored this, shifting my gaze, slow and deliberate, back to Vagmos. With eyes wide did he stand still, his skin almost pale as moonlight, and the fury he possessed now folded into a perfect, shivering silence. I stepped closer to him, letting my stare linger just a bit. Then I curved my lips into a smile that never fully formed. Just enough for him to see it. "All set for the signing ceremony later tonight, High El
