Chapter 1

As soon as I made sure the divorce papers had been signed, I quietly left Ethan Caldwell's study.

Then, I sent a text. "Come pick me up in a month."

Suddenly, Ethan, my husband, wrapped his arms around me from behind.

"Who are you texting?"

I quickly switched to his chat with Jennifer Harrington, one of his mistresses.

"Just confirming the departure time for the Derbin Isle trip with Jennifer."

On the screen was a message I'd typed, perfectly imitating his usual tone. "My dear, the flight is at nine o'clock. I will come pick you up myself."

For the past two years, whenever Ethan had too many conversations to keep up with, he'd hand me his phone and have me reply to his mistresses for him.

When people in our social circle found out, they liked to joke that I was the first woman in Harrowbough to cheat on herself.

After reading the message, Ethan nodded in satisfaction and casually ruffled my hair.

"Come with me on my skiing trip with Lydia."

I was about to refuse when he let out a sigh.

"You know Vivi's pregnant. When she called to tell me, Lina happened to overhear and assumed you were the one who was pregnant.

"Lydia's young, hot-tempered, and jealous. She's bound to take it out on you."

He said it as if it were the most reasonable thing in the world.

"I've already had my assistant prepare everything you'll need. Just let her vent for a while and tell her you lost the baby."

Even after going through so many abortions, a dull ache tightened in my chest at the thought of it.

Ethan's three mistresses might not have known about one another, but they all knew he had a wife.

And whenever there was a risk of one of his lies being exposed, he always pushed me forward to take the fall.

Once, Ethan took Lydia Bennett to an auction, then gave the evening's most valuable piece, a rare pink diamond necklace, to Vivian Sinclair instead.

To appease Lydia, Ethan offered her something else. The next day, private photos of me that one of my enemies had gotten hold of were put up as the headline item at another auction.

My mother was so devastated by the scandal that she suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. By the end of the night, we'd received 13 critical-condition notices.

Another time, Ethan was celebrating his first anniversary with Jennifer and completely forgot Vivian's birthday.

Vivian assumed I'd deliberately sabotaged it. At a party the next day, she publicly shoved me into a champagne tower.

The injuries left me with a permanent scar on the right side of my face.

Then there was the time Ethan got a matching tattoo with Lydia. Afraid someone might notice it, he dragged me along and made me get the same tattoo.

But when Jennifer saw it, she had someone drug me.

When I woke up, I discovered that phrases reading "Harrowbough's Must-Eat List" and "Enjoy" had been tattooed across my chest and thigh.

The entire ordeal had even been live-streamed to hundreds of thousands of viewers.

Feeling me tremble with despair, Ethan pulled me into his arms and gently patted my back. "Come on, Sienna. Help your husband just one more time.

"Remember when you asked me to find a sponsor for your TV show? I've already told my assistant that once this is over, I'll invest a million dollars."

I forced a smile but didn't bother reminding him why I'd asked for his help in the first place.

Because of everything his three mistresses had done to me, the network had already fired me and labeled me a liability.

I'd only begged Ethan to find a sponsor because I was desperate to save my job.

He'd promised to help me then, but he kept putting it off, again and again.

And now that I no longer needed it from him, he was finally offering it as compensation.

On the day of the ski trip, Ethan gave my hand a reassuring squeeze before we left.

"Don't worry. Once we get there, I'll check your safety gear myself. At worst, Lydia might trip you. You won't get seriously hurt."

I believed him.

Until Lydia skied up behind me.

She leaned close to my ear and whispered, "You really think Ethan checking your equipment himself means he loves you because you're pregnant? All I had to do was say I wanted it, and he gave me your safety gear instead."

Right after she said that, something slammed into me from behind.

I instantly lost my balance.

As the world spun around me and my vision began to fade, I realized there was blood oozing out of me. Then, everything went dark.

On the day of the wedding, the moment the lights fell on me, my eyes met Ethan's across the room. "Sienna!" he shouted. "Sienna, you didn't choose this, did you?"His eyes were bloodshot, but Evelyn quickly clamped a hand over his mouth, stopping him from saying anything more.Adrian stepped forward at just the right moment, blocking my view of Ethan. Then, he held out his hand to me.I slipped my arm through his, and together, we made our way around the room, toasting our guests. The same people who had once mocked me suddenly changed their tune. One after another, they showered Adrian with compliments for marrying me. "Mr. Caldwell, you're a lucky man to have such a wonderful wife."When we reached the table where his family was seated, Ethan looked as though he could barely contain his rage. "Adrian, have you no shame? You took advantage of her when she was vulnerable and stole my wife from me! You'll get what's coming to you!" "Ethan!" Evelyn snapped, cutting him off.

Meanwhile, I took a deep breath and pulled back the curtain in front of me. A look of awe flashed across Adrian's face. He rose from the couch without even realizing it. "Sienna, you look absolutely beautiful."He took my hand and gently led me toward the mirror. "I never imagined you'd look this beautiful in a wedding dress. I'm glad I get to see you like this with my own eyes today."I stared at my reflection, suddenly feeling shy. I was so nervous that a faint blush crept across my cheeks. But the next moment, my eyes began to sting. For the past two years, I had imagined countless times what Ethan's expression would be when I finally stepped out from behind the curtain in a wedding dress. But he had never been there. Not even once. He always had time for Lydia, accompanying her on one extreme adventure after another. He had time to throw elaborate birthday parties for Vivian—even for her dog. He had time to travel the world with Jennifer. Yet when it came to me,

The stew in Ethan's hands nearly spilled. He had barely steadied himself when Vivian rushed into his arms with a coy smile. "Ethan, what took you so long?" Ethan immediately pushed her away."What are you doing here?" he demanded. Then, it all came rushing back to him. To celebrate Vivian's dog's third birthday, he had allowed her to turn my home into a playground for the dog. "Take all of this down." He turned to Walter, his jaw clenched. "Move all of my wife's belongings back in. Restore the villa exactly the way it was before. I want it done today.""Ethan, what's the point of all this?" Vivian stepped in front of him, one hand resting protectively over her belly. "You've been acting so strange lately. You stopped replying to my messages, and now you're suddenly saying all this!"She narrowed her eyes. "What happened while you were gone? Did that old hag somehow get into your head?" Ethan couldn't be bothered to argue with her. His gaze dropped to her pregnant bell

"A miscarriage?" Ethan froze. He had to grip the reception desk to keep his legs from giving out. Suddenly, he remembered the blood pooling beneath me after I was knocked down at the ski resort. He had always assumed I had prepared a blood pack beforehand to make the whole thing look convincing. "Mr. Caldwell, we checked several other hospitals as well. There's no record of Mrs. Caldwell receiving treatment at any of them," Walter reported.Seeing Ethan's face darken, Walter quickly added, "Mr. Caldwell, try to think of the best-case scenario. Maybe Mrs. Caldwell wasn't hurt at all."The thought eased some of the pressure in Ethan's chest. "Prepare 999 lychee roses and have them delivered to Mrs. Caldwell's villa."After giving the order, Ethan grabbed his keys and rushed home. "I want you to teach me how to make my wife's favorite stew." The chef respectfully rose to his feet. "Yes, sir. Would that be Ms. Bennett's favorite, Ms. Sinclair's, or Ms. Harrington's?"Ethan'

Walter didn't dare meet Ethan's eyes. Instead, he silently handed over a stack of photographs. They were candid shots taken by various media outlets after everyone had come down from the rooftop that day. Ethan had paid a fortune to suppress the photos and keep the incident out of the news. The more he looked through the photographs, the darker his expression became. Not one of them showed me. Suddenly, he hurled the photographs at Walter. "Maybe she just didn't come down with us!"Walter swallowed nervously. "We checked the security footage, too. There's no record of Ms. Whitmore leaving the building in the 72 hours following the incident…" His voice grew shakier with every word. "There's only one exit, and it's under constant surveillance. There's no way Ms. Whitmore could have left without appearing on camera, unless…" "Unless what?" Walter hesitated before forcing out, "Unless Ms. Whitmore never made it down from the rooftop…" Ethan felt as though something inside hi

  • I Arranged His Dates… and Our Divorce   Chapter 4

When I woke up, I found myself on a rooftop with Jennifer restraining me, her face twisted with rage."Sienna Whitmore, did you really think getting pregnant would be enough to win Ethan back? Today, I'm going to make sure you see who really matters to him!"Only then did I remember that yesterday was supposed to be the day Ethan took Jennifer to Derbin Isle to see the Northern Lights. But Vivian had stopped him from going, and Jennifer had mistakenly blamed me for interfering. The wind howled around us, nearly knocking me off balance. "Let me go!"I struggled against Jennifer's grip, but then, I felt something cold press against my neck."Jennifer!"Ethan rushed onto the rooftop with several people close behind him. The moment he saw what was happening, the color drained from his face. "Jennifer, you need to calm down," he pleaded. "Don't come any closer!"Jennifer pressed the blade against my neck, and I flinched at the sharp sting."Ethan, you told me I was the woma
