Emma's POV
“You are awake?” A woman in a doctor’s coat entered the room with a smile, “How are you feeling, Miss Whitemane?”
“I… I am feeling better.” I pushed back all the bad memories of Draven surfacing in my head and asked, “Is everything alright, Doctor?”
"The lab reports just came in. Congratulations. You are pregnant!” The doctor smiled, touching my arm and spreading a sense of comfort.
My heart skipped a beat when I heard the doctor’s words. Even Alexander and Natalie were shocked by this news.
Pregnant? Now?
My mind went into turbulence and I could not think straight. I stared at her blankly, not knowing how to react. My hands involuntarily clutched my stomach and asked, “Are you sure, doctor? Am I… really pregnant?”
“Yes, Mrs. Whitemane.” She nodded confidently, "You are bearing the future successor of the Silver Moon Pack. You should be very proud."
"I can't believe this." My eyes filled with tears…
I longed for this child for two years, hoping that it would keep us together. But now, when I had finally mustered the courage to leave him, I was pregnant. I felt as if I had gone back to the place where I initially started from.
Natalie asked, "Doctor, can we get an ultrasound done?"
"The hCG level in her blood is still low so I think that the baby is no more than three weeks old. Unfortunately, the baby cannot be detected by the ultrasound now." The doctor explained before adding, "Come back two weeks later and we will conduct a scan."
I did not doubt the doctor's words, she was absolutely right. I could not believe that I had become pregnant that very night itself.
The doctor said, "Since you are pregnant, you need to start taking care of yourself. No more skipping meals or vigorous activities. I will prescribe you some medicines, take them on time and everything should be fine."
"Okay, doctor. Thank you."
After she left, the whole room fell into an awkward silence.
“Emma… are you okay?” Natalie kept her hand on my shoulder.
I blinked at her and broke into a smile, “Natalie, I am pregnant. I am bearing his child.” I hugged her waist tightly, breaking down like a baby in her arms. Natalie’s eyes teared up too, “Yes, you are, Emma. You are going to be a mother.”
Natalie knew how much I wanted to bear a baby for him and how much I was harassed for this. Now, maybe even the pack will accept me as their Luna and support me ahead.
“Congratulations, Emma.” Alexander said amidst the moment. I met him just ten minutes ago and I could already see genuine happiness in his eyes for me.
"What have you decided now?" The girl asked, "Are you still going to proceed with the Divorce?"
"No, I won't. This baby needs its father, I can't do this to it." I said through my tears.
"What about Alpha Draven?" Alexander asked.
I stopped crying and thought about it. Draven never talked to me about kids, if he really wanted them he would not have kept me away from him for so long.
But then again, he was the Alpha of the pack and the responsibility of continuing the Alpha line came down to his shoulders. Even a lion softens down when it comes to its cub.
I said, “I need to tell this to him.” I pulled away from her arms and yanked the blanket off me.
“Where are you going?” The man asked while I was putting on my shoes.
“To Draven. I need to tell him this.”
“Emma, wait. Do you think it is a good idea?” Natalie asked. I stopped in my tracks and asked, “What do you mean?”
“Alpha Draven. Are you sure he will react the right way if he finds out about this?”
"He will. He should… It’s his baby.” I said, biting down on my lips nervously.
“But what about Stella…? Do you think he will leave her?”
“I will change his mind. I am sure he will give up on everything and come back to me when he finds out about the baby.” I said with confidence clouding my face.
Natalie nodded, “She is right. I am sure Alpha won’t be so cruel to still proceed with the separation. Let’s go, girl.”
“I will drive.” Alexander fished out his car keys and we all proceeded to go out. He was just about to pull the door open but it was pulled to the opposite side instead. Standing out of our rooms were three men, all wearing suits and looking extinguished.
I did not recognize them but Alexander did; the man's eyebrows went together as he spoke, "Chairman? What are you doing here?"
Chairman? As for the chairman of the council? No wonder the men had the aura of nobility.
"I am glad to find you here, Mr Frost but I am afraid I am not here for you today." The elderly man said, "I am looking for Emma Whitemane. Is she here?"
"Emma?" Alexander looked at me, his face was masked with worry for some reason. The look on his face was tying a knot in my gut, was something wrong? The council won't come looking for you if it is not something serious.
I found my voice and said, "It is me, Mr Chairman. Is everything alright?"
The elderly man shot his glance at me and said, "Miss Whitemane, you are under arrest for your murder attempt on Stella Gracy."
"Arrest?" Natalie grabbed my hand and gasped.
"What? What are you talking about? There must be some misunderstanding, Mr James." Alexander involuntarily stepped in front of me as if he was trying to protect me.
The man said, "We received a complaint that Miss Whitemane was the one who stabbed Miss Gracy three years ago, leading her to fall into an unfortunate coma. We can't do anything now."
I stood there silently, feeling myself weak on my knees. I was not foolish, else than me and Stella, there was only one person who was aware of this.
Alpha Draven…
What a cruel joke it was!
The man I loved the most, the man whose baby I was bearing was getting me arrested for a crime I did not even commit.
Emma's POVI got inside the car and looked over at Draven. He was focused on the road and looked too calm for the situation.I was itching to ask him about the white wolf and if he knew anything about it. Before he could, he asked me, “What were you doing when you established contact with Ashel’s wolf?”“I…” I thought about it and said, “Nothing. I was just too panicked and worried.”“So it happened on its own, and you did not do anything?”“No.” I replied and looked down, “Do you even think it is real?”“Yes.” He gave me a shocking reply, “I have heard about it during my training and have read about this in books, but I never thought it was real.”“What? What are you talking about?”“It is an ancient power. There were wolves who could establish contact with the spirits of other wolves, no matter how far they were.”My mind was blown by this information. I have never heard about it before. I know that Alphas can mindlink with other wolves but they have to belong to the same pack and h
Emma's POV“Emma? Emma…” Draven’s panicked voice woke me up from my slumber. “Thank God you are okay.” Relief clouded his face as he opened the car door. I looked around to see that I was in the middle of nowhere. It turned out I had parked my car and just dozed off; everything I saw was just a mere dream. But the voice… and the wolf… they seemed so realistic.“Are you alright?” Draven asked as he unbuckled my seat belt. He grabbed my hand and helped me step out of the vehicle. My head was unusually heavy and dizzy, I was just numb and going wherever he was taking me. Turns out Draven was not alone, the Gamma and scouts were here as well. The man asked, “Miss Whitemane, are you alright?”I nodded, unable to say a word. He asked, “What happened? Why did you run away all of a sudden? The Alpha was worried about you.”I could not answer his question. Instead, I looked at Draven and asked, “Ashel… Did you find her?”Draven replied, “We are still searching.”“Then… Then we should not wa
Emma's POVMy composure crumbled. “Draven,” I choked out, “I don’t know what’s happening to me. I am hallucinating. I think I am losing my mind.”“Hey, hey. Breathe. Tell me what happened.”I swallowed hard, my fingers trembling as I sent him my location, “Please, hurry.”“I AM on my wa.,” he assured me. “Stay put.”Just as I hung up, movement caught my eye. A figure stood in the middle of the road, draped in a black robe.My pulse spiked. My instincts screamed at me to drive, to leave, but something held me in place. Slowly, I rolled down my window. “Do you need help?”No response. My phone chimed again. I glanced at the message from Draven—Almost there. When I lifted my gaze, the figure was gone.A shiver ran down my spine. I scanned the area, my breath catching when I turned to my side—The figure stood right next to my window.I barely had time to gasp. My heart slammed against my ribs, my chest tightening with panic. The woman’s hood cast deep shadows over her face, but I could f
Emma's POVJust when I thought that I was hearing things, I heard her again, “Mom… Can you hear me?”The voice was faint, distant, but unmistakable. My heart leaped into my throat and I gasped, my breath hitching as I heard the familiar voice echo through my head.“Ashel?” I called, my eyes darting frantically around the dimly lit space. But there was no one there, just the cold walls and the flickering bulb above me.My heart pounded against my ribs and I was dying to just hear her voice one more time. “Ashel!” I yelled again, desperation creeping into my voice.“Mom, please save me. I am scared.” Her unmistakable voice spoke to me.“I am here. I will get you, sweetie. Don’t be scared.” I pressed my ear against the door to see if anyone was there and heard the faint mutters of the housekeepers talking to themselves. I started pounding on the door with clenched fists, “Let me out!”The initial chatter stopped dramatically and there was dead silence now.A sharp wave of panic surged th
