Eric Keaton fastened my seatbelt and narrowed his eyes. "So what changed? Weren't you the type who'd rather suffer in silence than leave Derek?" He asked curiously.

I looked out the window. My thoughts were a mess.

During the seven years I was married to Alpha Derek, I endured his nights away from home and the way he spent every spare moment with his childhood sweetheart.

He said he had been foolish and young when he chose me.

He wanted me to understand. He could give me power, status, and resources, but his heart would always belong to Lisa Averton.

Back then, I told myself we had a child. As long as my child was by my side, that was enough.

That was until the day Derek brought Lisa into our home. My son, Dominic Anderson, ran to her excitedly and hugged her tightly.

"I wish you were my mom!" Dominic exclaimed.

I sighed. That was when I realized there was no place for me in that house anymore.

All those years, I poured out my love until there was nothing left.

Even my own son had only ever cared about Lisa.

I was exhausted.

It was better to leave. I agreed to Eric's invitation to take over Bellflower Town together.

That was a place that would accept me and allow me to finally be at ease.

"I've figured it out. I just want to live happily from now on."

"You're not going back?" He raised an eyebrow. He seemed unconvinced.

"No." I nodded without hesitation.

"Sure. I'm the Alpha of Bellflower Town now, and Bellflower Town will always welcome you." He chuckled before cheerfully starting the engine.

On the way, I noticed a little girl surrounded by three ragged rogues.

I could sense she was an unremarkable Omega. Things like this happened every day.

I didn't want to interfere. After all, being a bystander saved a lot of trouble.

The rogues had evil looks in their eyes. The closer they approached her, the louder my wolf, Lucy, urged me to get out and help.

"Leah, you can't just stand by and watch her die!" Lucy shouted in my mind.

My first reaction was hesitation.

I recalled how, back in Alpha Derek's mansion, I used to hear the maids whisper behind my back.

"That's her, the one who ruined Alpha Derek and Beta Lisa's relationship."

No one had stood up for me. Not even Derek.

He had heard everything, but he simply walked past me.

If I stayed silent now, how would I be any different from him?

"Leah!" Lucy's cry snapped me back to reality.

"Stop the car!" I shouted.

Eric immediately understood my intention. He leaped out first and shifted into his wolf form. He then effortlessly got rid of the three rogues.

I ran over to the little girl and asked her what had happened.

Her father had told her to wait there, but an entire day had gone by, and he still hadn't returned.

Eric and I exchanged glances.

In other words, she had been abandoned.

The fight had drawn a crowd. People gathered around and whispered openly in front of her. They called her pitiful and said even her own father had cast her aside.

She clutched the torn ear of her worn-out teddy bear and kept her head lowered. She didn't cry or make a sound.

Lucy couldn't help crying when she learned about the girl's experience. "How is she any different from us?"

I thought for a moment. Then I reached out my hand. "Would you like to come home with me?"

When I arrived in Bellflower Town, besides a nearly empty bank card, my phone, and a suitcase of clothes, I also had a little girl.

I officially settled down in Bellflower Town.

I refused the luxurious mansion Eric prepared for me and chose the neglected courtyard beside his place instead.

I rolled up my sleeves and restored it myself. I planted the flowers I liked.

In the center of my living room, I hung a framed portrait of my late mother-in-law.

Derek's mother, Mary Anderson, had been nothing like him.

She treated me kindly. She had been gentle, dignified, and worthy of respect. I often missed her.

If she were still alive, perhaps my life would have been much easier.

I named the Omega Eliana Olsen.

I hoped she would grow to be optimistic and find passion in whatever she did.

However, she was quiet and reserved. She was far more mature than a five-year-old should be.

She understood most things, and she did everything carefully.

She helped me when I worked. She stood in front of me during hunts when danger approached. When I fell sick, she prepared oatmeal for me, blew on each spoonful to cool it, and fed me patiently.

It reminded me of my biological son.

Dominic had always received whatever he wanted instantly. All the pack's resources were planned around him. Without question, he was the cherished heir of the Blood Moon Pack.

They were both five, but they had completely different personalities.

"Mom, why did you choose to keep me? I'm useless."

I stared at Derek in shock and confusion. Derek bit his lip."There's been more and more trouble in the pack lately. Disputes are everywhere. Lisa can't handle things the way you used to. She can't manage anything with ease like you did."When Dominic gets sick, she panics. She can't even give him simple fever medicine without making a mistake."Leah."He called my name gently. For the first time, I saw something like tenderness in his eyes."I never realized this before, but my life is filled with traces of you. No matter how hard I try, I can't erase them."That was why they suddenly came looking for me, and that was why their attitude changed so quickly.I had never even wondered why they came back.It turned out they simply no longer had a capable maid to serve them.I felt nauseous. I stepped back to widen the distance between us."Derek, what you need is a competent maid, not me."His gaze flickered with hurt. He clenched his fists at his sides."What if I fell in lov

"No."My reply came out dry and flat.Derek's eyes welled up with tears. He reached out and tried to pull me into his arms."Let's stop fighting, okay? Come back. Let's spend my birthday with Dominic."Before he could touch me, a taller figure pressed down on his wrist."Have some self-respect, Derek.""Uncle Eric!"Eliana ran joyfully up to Eric, and he lifted her into his arms."Happy birthday, Uncle Eric!"Only then did Derek and Dominic realize how foolish their words and actions had been.Eric kissed me politely on the cheek. He was grinning from ear to ear."Darling, thank you for preparing such a wonderful birthday dinner for me."I smiled and looked at the two werewolves standing awkwardly at the door."Since you're already here, would you like to come in and celebrate Eric's birthday together?"Dominic froze. The cake slipped from his hands and fell to the ground with a thud.He took a step back, and he ended up tumbling down the steps behind him. He scraped his

The next morning, Dominic took the initiative to apologize to Eliana.Right then, Eric walked in. When he saw Dominic, he shot me a skeptical look."Well, well. So it's this little brat. I thought you'd already moved on."Dominic let out a defensive growl, but Eric simply lifted him up by the collar."Eliana's face hasn't healed yet. I got her a day off. I'll take this little brat to school.""I don't want to! I want Mom to take me!" Dominic flailed midair."Behave, you annoying little pup."Eric smacked his backside gently. He then turned to me with a bright grin."See you."He tossed Dominic into the car and drove off. After they left, Eliana asked discreetly, "Mom, do I have to be friends with Dominic?""Do you want to be friends with him?" I asked softly. I wasn't sure why she brought it up.She shook her head slowly. I was a little surprised. "Why not, sweetheart?"She took my hand in her small, soft one."Mom, I can feel that you're in pain when you're around him. I

Back then, thinking about these things felt like being slowly torn apart. Now, I felt nothing at all.Apparently, our quiet conversation had been overheard. Dominic ran out in tears."Mom, I was wrong! Don't abandon me."He threw himself into my arms.No matter how I tried to pry him off, he clung to me stubbornly.I looked to Derek for help.To my surprise, he only gave me a helpless look."If I could control him, we wouldn't be here."Dominic had been raised as the treasured heir of the Blood Moon Pack. He believed that he could have anything he ever wanted."How about this? Let him stay with you for a while. I can't stop him anyway," Derek said. Both father and son looked at me with expectation.I lowered my gaze and thought quietly for a long moment. Mary's voice echoed in my mind. 'Take good care of Dominic.'After a long pause, I smiled. "Alright."It wouldn't last long anyway. Soon enough, he would grow tired of this life.He would grow tired of me, his mother who

I couldn't even remember how I made it through that night. I was crying so hard. When I woke up, there were only two thoughts in my mind.'I've been marked.'I'm in unbearable pain.'He looked at me without saying much."You're my mate now," he said simply. Then he left.I sat on the couch in a daze. I slowly pieced my chaotic thoughts together. The entire night, he had been calling Lisa's name."Lisa, don't leave me. Will you be my mate?"He still loved Lisa.Meanwhile, I had become the sinner who stole their happiness. After we formed the mate bond, the maids' whispers inevitably reached me."That night, Lisa and Derek only had a small fight. Who would've thought Leah would take the chance to drug Derek's wine? She's shameless.""Why would Derek let that homewrecker become his mate?""Everyone knows Derek's heart belongs to Lisa."-The rumors made me the target of scorn throughout Blood Moon Pack. They believed what they wanted to believe. I never expected to run into the person I least wanted to see again like this.Derek's expression grew colder by the second. He seemed almost indifferent.Eliana subconsciously tightened her grip on my hand. She looked a little uneasy.I patted the back of her hand reassuringly.Derek remained silent. The air between us turned eerily still.I knew he was waiting for an explanation. So I used a mind-link to ask Eric to take Eliana home first."I ran into something. I need to sort it out. Please take care of Eliana for me."Eric agreed without hesitation."Eliana."I crouched down before smoothing her hair and packing up her backpack. I retrieved her favorite candy from my pocket."Go wait at the school gate for Uncle Eric, okay?""Mom." Eliana took a deep breath and asked carefully, "Will you come back?"I smiled. "You're my only child. If I don't come back to you, where else would I go?"Eliana smiled in relief. She nodded. She then picked up her backpack and ran toward
