Prince Augustus POV "Don't go straight to the palace. There's a place I have to go first." "Yes, Your Highness," The chauffeur, who has been tasked with escorting me to the palace, responds to my command by taking a different route. It's been six years since I took a plane to Luxembourg to wed Felicity, the woman who would later become my ex-wife. I haven't told anybody else about the contract because doing so is against the rules. This is why I had no choice but to get married to Felicity and then get a divorce from her after we had been married for six years. I was with Felicity for six years, and she loved me. I never developed romantic feelings for her. For the simple reason that I know, deep down, that someone is out there. I'm holding something that Lincoln personally gave to me. There's a note with an address on it, and he told me to check it out. Because that's where my true love was, I know exactly who I'll meet there. "Your Highness, we have arrived." I was completely a
A folded piece of paper with a badge on top is sitting on the edge of my bed. The one that I personally find beautiful in the auction room is the badge that was the reason for our first fight. My fingers tremble as I grab the badge and the letter.I hid my lips with my shaking hand when I realized it was the badge. I let go of it in my hand and fell off the blanket that was wrapped over me. I opened it with trembling fingers. The way each letter was written caught my attention. And by the time I knew for sure that it was him, I found myself sobbing uncontrollably. I began reading his letter. My stupid negie,I love you more than happy endingsI love you more than life itself. I’ll be right here, loving you until the end.Your princeSEBASTIAN,The priest then blesses the couple, joins their hand together, and asks, "Do you take Prince Cynfael Augustus Hearst Clemente as your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, i
The bell rang loudly, indicating the end of the class. As soon as the bell rang, the class was on their feet and out of the door. I adjusted my uniform, then swept the backpack up and trotted to the locker room. Another door led me to a locker room with mirrors along two walls. Exhausted, Mishelley enters the room after me. "Hey, madam president, I've been calling you a few times," she said as she crossed her arms. "Sorry for not hearing you." "Have you been thinking about your papa?" "Yeah, "I replied, slouching against my locker. "I'm wondering what will happen to papa, to us. Now everybody was accusing him of something he didn't even do." She let out a sigh. "I'm sorry, Gemma, that I can't even help you." Mishelley leaned against my shoulder. I patted her on the forehead. "Bonkers! Cheering me on was more than enough, even if your jokes are sometimes lame." I chuckled. "But, Mishelley, thank you so much for continuing to believe Papa's innocence and for not chasing me away."
We had no trouble finding a place to stay. Mishelley's parents temporarily allowed us to use their second home, which is also close to the compound. Alvez's family, as well as our friend Abel, greeted us. "Surprise?" Abel smiled while raising both his hands. I respond by smiling at Abel. "You don't have to do anything, Mr. and Mrs. Alvez; simply allowing us to live here is enough. You let us stay without hesitation. I'm not sure how we can repay your generosity." Mama said. "No, Catina, we gladly helped, so don't think about how to repay us. Think about Allerick, Blythe, Gemma, and yourself. In your current situation, Catina, this isn't the worst thing that could happen to you; you'll go through a lot, and others will criticize you much more." Aunt Haydee, Mishelley's mom, reminded Mama. "I know Mrs. Alvez." Mama gave a kind grin.Mama's smile, a smile that encourages me. We'll go through more, and one day we'll encounter a more serious problem. "Shall we go inside?" Mr. Mike mot
"Are you alright, kid?" I collapsed to the ground, not because I was hit, but because it terrified me. Tears flowed from my eyes as my imagination created memories and scenarios that caused the tears to flow even more."WE HAVE NO IDEA WHY WE VOTED FOR THE WRONG PERSON IN THE HIGHEST POSITION. CRIMINALS HAVE BEEN PUT IN THIS SCHOOL. WE EVEN ALLOWED CRIMINALS TO RULE AMARILLO UNIVERSITY. WHO KNOWS, LIKE HIS FATHER, SHE STOLE THE SCHOOL'S FUNDS.""No, Gemma, you're perfect. You are one of Amarillo's best students, and you have done a lot for our school, but...""You have no idea how hard she worked to reclaim the position you took back. Every night, she thinks of changing your awful system! She supported you and even her father, whom you accused of a crime. They both contributed, but instead of helping Gemma, you eliminated her! You can't even feel sorry for her! Are you concerned that this corrupt university may fail? ""Your father is a thief! Swindler!Thief!""No, no, papa, don't go!"
In a state of astonishment, I did nothing except take a step back. "Ah-- um--""I ask you who are you? Don't you know you can't come in here?" The man scowled at me. "Thief!" he yells, his hand now grabbing my arm. "Are you attempting to take that badge?""No, I was just curious-- so I took it out of the box," I said, defending myself to his accusation."See? You took it, which means you want to steal it." The man's face contorted into a sneer."I did take it, but it doesn't mean I intend to steal the badge. So, could you please let go of my hand?" I asked, and he did so."You don't look like a servant here, and your face is strange," he carefully examines my face. "You might be a royal family visitor or a criminal, or both... a criminal that pretending to be a guest."Really? The contour of this guy's tongue! He is the one I don't recognize; there is no such face in the royal family-- but if you look closely, he resembles a royal family member and appears to be my age.He was notable
On my way out of the palace, King Lucien gave me a paper bag with shoes for Allerick, Blythe, and Mama's favorite high-end purse. “Don’t tell Catina it came from me,” then patted my head. “Thank you for your help, Gemma, and I assure you I will find a way to cleanse Edward’s name.” "Since you'll be assisting my dad and I'll be the prince's personal maid in exchange, I feel it's my responsibility to express gratitude, Your Majesty." “Pardon me, Your Majesty, what do you mean by I would be the prince's personal maid?” "What I said was true, Gemma, and the thought only occurred to me when I witnessed how you responded to him. Be my son, Prince Augustus' maid. Don't take this as an order," I was taken aback when His Majesty offered to shake my hand. "Gemma, not only does this monarch require your assistance, but you also require mine as well. Regarding Edward's legal matter, I will do everything in my power to assist you. As long as you accept my offer, I will replace anything they hav
Blythe was standing in the doorway, with a glass of water in hand after the call I had. "What are you doing standing out there?""Can I come in?" she queried."Sure, Blythe, you may come into my room whenever you want," I say. I made space for her in my bed so she could sit close to me. "Do you have any schoolwork, projects, or anything I can help you with?"She made a shaky movement with her head. "I missed my room, our old house. What is the point of living here if our old house is still okay?""I-There's been a change, Blythe. The age of our home makes it unfit for living in. It's no longer secure. Mama and I have made the difficult decision to move," I'm at a loss for words with her; I realize that's a stupid excuse. I cannot say the bank has seized possession of our home."But our old house holds many memories of us. What if our brother comes home and we aren't there?" Blythe fretted."Blythe, don't worry; Samuel will be OK. Someone will assist him in coming to this place. You're
