Chapter 3

Author: Dried Shrimp
The next day, my dad sent maids with a selection of dresses for the marking ceremony.

I had just chosen one made with moonstone when Simon walked into my room. He was supporting an injured Leah.

Leah's eyes lit up at the sight of the dresses. They then quickly dimmed as she spoke in a self-deprecating tone.

"The dresses are so beautiful. Too bad an Omega like me will never get to wear one."

Simon pulled her close. "Don't say that. Once I become Alpha, I'll give you anything you want."

Leah stared greedily at the dress in my hands.

"That one Lana is holding has moonstone, doesn't it? I heard it can heal werewolves. If I could wear it just once, my wound would probably heal immediately."

Simon walked over and spoke like it was the most natural thing in the world.

"If it can heal her, then give it to her."

I laughed incredulously. "Why should I?"

"Because tomorrow night, you're choosing me as your mate. What's yours is mine. It's just a dress. Why can't you just give it to Leah?"

I laughed outright. "Who said I was choosing you as my future mate?"

A flicker of panic crossed his face, but it disappeared just as quickly.

"Lana, everyone knows you've been chasing me your whole life. Who else would you pick? Stop playing games. Give the dress to Leah."

Before I could react, he yanked the dress from my hands.

The hidden silver clasp on the dress sliced across the back of my hand and left a deep wound.

The edge of the wound turned black instantly, and the healing took place slowly. My hand burned with a pain that only happened when a weapon was made with silver.

Simon didn't even glance at my bleeding hand. He left with Leah, who looked pleasantly surprised.

Before they left, Leah even turned back to smirk at me smugly.

I sneered and allowed my blood to drip onto the carpet. Whatever feelings I once had for Simon drained away with it.

The night before the marking ceremony, my dad summoned all nine warriors to the meeting chamber.

He announced that tomorrow, I would choose one of them as my mate.

As soon as he said that, all the werewolves seemed to react differently.

In the corner, I saw Keith drinking himself senseless.

The other warriors turned to look at Simon and patted his shoulder. "Congratulations, Simon. Once you mark Lana, you'll become the pack's Alpha heir."

My dad looked at me ambiguously when he heard that. He smiled but didn't say a word.

Almost everyone assumed I would choose Simon.

I didn't bother explaining.

Anyway, they'd find out who exactly my mate would be on the day of the marking ceremony.

But late that night, Simon broke into my room.

The maids all thought he was my future mate and didn't stop him.

His face was dark with rage as he dragged me out of bed and clamped a hand around my throat.

He uttered through clenched jaws, "Lana, why won't you stop clinging to me like some pathetic parasite? Because you're choosing me tomorrow, Leah couldn't take it and ran into Moonlit Forest! If she dies out there, I'll rip your throat out myself!"

His grip tightened. I was nearly suffocating.

"Simon, have you lost your mind? That Omega running off has nothing to do with me!"

His eyes were bloodshot. "If you hadn't forced me to become your mate, she wouldn't have run into the forest in despair. If the rogues tear her apart, I'll make you pay with your life!"

My wolf roared in fury.

I shifted into my white wolf form, swiped against his chest, and broke free. I shifted back into human form and spoke in a cold voice.

"Listen up, Simon. I never chose you. If you don't get out right now, I'll contact my dad through a mind link and have him deal with you."

Hearing my threat about contacting my dad, he finally snapped back to his senses. He glared at me hatefully and stormed off into the night.

The next morning, he returned with Leah.

He was covered in dirt and wounds.

Leah clung tightly to him.

Simon stopped in front of me and looked at me coldly.

"Lana, even if I'm forced to mark you tonight, I will never love you. And if you ever show off in front of Leah or bully her, I swear I'll make you pay."

I watched them leave. All I felt was absurdity.

I couldn't even understand how I ever fell for a dumb, arrogant werewolf like him in the past life.

  • I Chose a New Mate After Reincarnating   Chapter 11

Keith's POVLater, I noticed Lana had changed. The day the Alpha told her to choose a mate from nine warriors, everyone thought she would choose Simon.Even I thought the same. That night, I drank a lot.The burn of the alcohol in my throat wasn't much worse than wolfsbane.I just wanted to numb myself with alcohol. That way, I wouldn't have to watch her walk to Simon or watch him sink her fangs into her neck. I wouldn't have to watch them complete the marking. But the next day, before the ceremony began, I heard something.Simon's name had been crossed off the list.I thought it was the Alpha's decision. It wasn't until I stood on the platform that I heard Alpha calling out my name."Keith."I thought I misheard.I looked up and saw Lana standing on the altar and smiling at me.I walked up to the altar. Every step felt unreal. My wolf was going wild inside me and howling with joy, but I forced it to calm down.I was afraid this was a dream, and I was afraid I'd wake up

  • I Chose a New Mate After Reincarnating   Chapter 10

Keith's POVI was eleven that year. Lana, the Alpha's daughter, was eight. She was like a little ball of snow when she bounced around the pack. Her silver-gray hair glowed softly under the moonlight.Every time she ran past me, I couldn't help but look up.I never approached her.An adopted warrior had no right to get close to the Alpha's only daughter. That winter was especially brutal. Moonlit Lake had frozen solid.I remembered that afternoon clearly. I was patrolling alone by the lake.Snow reached past my ankles, and the air smelled of pine and frost. That was when I heard the sharp crack of ice breaking. It was followed by a soft, startled cry.I turned around and saw a dark hole in the center of the lake. There was a flash of silver-gray hair on the surface, but it quickly disappeared. It was Lana.My mind went blank.Without any hesitation, I dove in. The icy water was murky, and I could barely see a thing.I could only rely on my sense of smell. Her faint, milky

Three years later, Keith officially became the Alpha of Obsidian Pack.Since I was his mate, I became the pack's Luna. That same day, I received a letter without a sender's name.I knew it was from Simon. The words were filled with bitterness. He wrote that he was now just a rogue who could never shift again. He prayed the Moon Goddess would bless us with happiness. While wandering the wild, he had reflected on everything. He apologized for all the stupid things he did in the past.He knew I would never forgive him, but before he died, he still wanted to say sorry.I finished reading it and tossed it into the fireplace. I let it burn to ash.Everything in the past would stay in the past.I would live a happy life with my Alpha mate.Although the patrol duties were gruelling, Keith always tried to return home before sunset to spend time with me.One day, while cleaning, I entered his study. I found a locked wooden box at the bottom of a bookshelf.I opened it and found stac

It was actually Simon who came.He had been following Leah and looking for a chance to redeem himself. That was how he found this abandoned silver mine. His eyes turned bloodshot as he shifted instantly into a gray wolf and charged in without hesitation. The rogues were forced to shift and fight back, but they were no match for him. In a frenzy, Simon tore through them and left their bodies mangled and bleeding. He shifted back into human form, threw his coat over me, broke part of the chains, and lifted me up to carry me out.Leah, who was ignored, snapped like a lunatic. She lunged forward with the wolfsbane-coated dagger."Watch out!" I shouted. She moved too fast. To protect me, Simon turned around and took the lethal blow head-on.The dagger plunged deep into his spine. The wolfsbane toxin spread instantly. Thick black smoke rose from the wound.Simon let out a pained howl and collapsed.Watching him fall into a pool of blood, Leah panicked. "No! Simon, I did all this fo

After that, Simon didn't show up again for a long time.My relationship with Keith grew steadier with each passing day.Back then, my entire world revolved around Simon. But being with Keith made me realize that a true mate bond wasn't about one side constantly offering to compromise. Instead, it was about two werewolves leaning on each other and trusting each other with their lives.A third scent should never come between mates.I thought life would remain peaceful and happy under the Moon Goddess's blessing, but Leah's appearance broke that peace. It was Keith's birthday. I left the pack alone and went to the Snow Wolf Pack's marketplace to find a rare ingredient as a surprise gift.Just as I stepped out of the market, I ran into Leah in an alley. She was skin and bones. Her hair looked like dry straw, and her sunken eyes made her look like a dying rogue.I was just thinking about how cruel the wilderness could be to rogues when Leah started laughing eerily."Lana, it's been

  • I Chose a New Mate After Reincarnating   Chapter 6

On the way home, Keith held my hand tightly and asked in a soft voice, "Lana, I've always wondered about this. You used to love Simon so much. What changed?"My thoughts drifted to the past. When I was young, I once fell into a frozen lake. It was Simon who jumped in without hesitation and rescued me.From that moment on, my wolf saw him as a hero. I began to admire and fall for him.Back then, he had been gentle with me.My dad was always busy with the pack, and I had lost my mom young. Simon was the one who stayed by my side. He comforted me with his scent.I thought when I came of age, everything would fall into place. But ever since Leah joined the pack, everything changed. He began favoring her without realizing it. He said she was an orphaned werewolf, just like him.At first, to make him happy, I accepted her too.But slowly, she started crossing every line. She frequently framed me for bullying her while feeding Simon's need to protect her.No matter how I explained,
