Chapter 1

Swelina Lott covered her nose dramatically. Her face was twisted in disgust. "Oh my god, Holden! She really goes anywhere she wants, like an animal. Three years in prison, and she's still the same."

My brother, Holden Grant, frowned harder.

He was a clean freak, yet he still grabbed me by the scruff of my neck and tossed me into the back of the SUV.

"What did you even learn in prison? How embarrassing. Sit properly and don't soil my seat."

I opened my mouth to speak, but Swelina's warning glare froze me.

So, I shut it and curled up on the floor mat, making myself as small and invisible as possible.

The SUV drove into the estate I once knew, but everything had changed.

The moonflowers Holden had planted for me were gone, replaced with Swelina's favorite blood-red roses.

In the living room, all our childhood photos were gone. In their place, a massive wedding portrait of Holden and Swelina hung on the wall.

In the photo, she leaned against him. Her smile was wide and radiant.

Just then, Swelina's voice rang out, "Anria, this will be your room from now on."

I snapped back to my senses and followed her finger to a dark storage room tucked beneath the stairs.

It was meant for clutter, so it was narrow, damp, and windowless.

"Swelina thought your room had the best view, so she moved in," Holden explained casually. "You should be grateful she's letting you stay here."

I nodded. My voice was barely a whisper as I said, "Yes, Alpha Holden. Thank you, Luna Swelina."

He seemed surprised at my obedience. After all, I used to cry, scream, and cling to him.

After scrutinizing me, he raised his voice. "Speak louder! Why do you sound so timid? Are you trying to make me feel sorry for you?"

Holden's misunderstanding made my body shiver. I straightened and shouted with all my might, "Thank you, Luna Swelina! I'm more than grateful!"

After saying that, I started coughing violently. A metallic taste of blood rose in my throat.

In prison, the wardens forced me to respond with perfect posture and a loud, clear voice. If I failed, they made me drink water mixed with silver powder.

The punishment had left my throat permanently damaged. Speaking loudly tore through it like knives.

"Enough, Holden. Stop scaring her," Swelina said, stepping forward. She lifted my chin with her red-painted nails.

"Anria, I promise you that as long as you do as I say, we'll still be a family."

Her nails grazed my cheek, leaving a faint red mark.

"Look at her, Holden. This poor thing."

She turned to him, feigning pity. "We have to take care of her properly. Otherwise, the other wolves might say the Silvermoon pack mistreats family."

Holden didn't reply, letting her words hang in the air.

Dinner was laid out on a long table, lavish and abundant.

Holden kept feeding Swelina her favorite roasted lamb. "Try some, darling."

Smiling, Swelina pushed a plate of bright berries toward me. "These are for you. They're really nutritious."

As I stared at the berries, my stomach twisted.

They were the fruit of Wolfwail—harmless to healthy wolves but poisonous to those without a wolf spirit.

In prison, this was how they "purified" disobedient wolves.

"Why aren't you eating? Do you not like what I prepared?" Swelina's smile turned cold. "Or are you still upset that I read your diary aloud back then?"

"I—" I started to explain, but Holden's command cut me off.

"Eat it! You must finish what Swelina prepared."

"Alpha Holden, I can't—"

Holden interrupted again. "There's nothing you can't do. There are only commands you refuse to obey."

He rose, and his sharp gaze locked me in place. "Anria, don't test my patience."

Fear washed over me. With trembling hands, I grabbed a berry and put it into my mouth.

A sharp, sour pain exploded in my mouth, but I forced myself to swallow.

"Good." Holden sat back down.

Swelina's smile bloomed wider. "That's more like it. We're a family. We care for each other."

I kept eating, berry after berry, until the plate was empty.

Pain shot from my stomach to every limb. My body convulsed, and my vision darkened.

"What's wrong with her?" Swelina shrieked and ducked into Holden's arms. "What a pain. She can't even eat in peace."

Holden glared at me with disgust.

Before I passed out, I heard him coldly order the attendants, "Drag her back to the storage room. Don't let her die here and ruin my carpet."

didn't know how long Holden kneeled under the waterfall. All I knew was that from that day on, the Alpha of the Silvermoon pack was never the same.He dismissed all his attendants and locked himself in the small room that used to be mine.He became quiet and violent, yet he would howl at the moon in anguish during the dead of night. His wolf spirit was weakened by his regret and torment.Holden had lost it.The entire werewolf world was buzzing with rumors that the Alpha of the Silvermoon pack had gone mad after losing his most cherished possession.A month later, the Silvermoon pack held an emergency meeting. All the wolves gathered at the altar in the valley.Holden appeared in white clothing. His face was as pale as paper. His eyes were hollow, like those of a walking corpse. He stepped up to the high platform, and his voice echoed in the minds of every wolf in the pack through their mind-link."I, Holden Grant, Alpha of the Silvermoon pack, am going to confess my sins to

When Holden found Swelina, she was lounging in the garden. She basked in the sun while enjoying the attention of her attendants. The moment she saw Holden, she immediately flashed a sweet smile and approached him. "Holden, you're here."Holden didn't speak. He simply looked at her with an expression she had never seen before. There was no love or anger in his gaze—only a deep, hollow emptiness."Where is Anria?" he asked.Swelina's smile froze. "I-I don't know. Didn't she escape?""You rolled down the stairs yourself," Holden said flatly. His tone was chilling enough to be terrifying. "You took the herbs and pretended she attacked you."Swelina's face turned ashen. "No… that's not true! Holden, please listen to me! It was her! She was jealous that I was carrying your pup!""Enough." Holden interrupted her and threw the blood-stained report in her face."I gave you the chance to be a Luna and gave you the highest honor and power. This is how you repay me? Why do you hate Anria

Gamma Edwin George worked quickly.Three days later, a detailed investigation report was placed on Holden's desk. His hands trembled as he flipped open the first page. The report was long and filled with irrefutable evidence. That morning, after he left the room, Swelina had called in the pack's healer to check on her body. The healer's statement was clear. Swelina and the pup inside her were perfectly fine. They bore no signs of being attacked. She had only taken a herb that had caused false contractions, which posed no harm to the pup but created the illusion of abdominal pain.Holden's breath grew shallow as he continued reading. The next part, the truth from three years ago, took his breath away.Edwin had located an Omega maid who was present at the time. The Omega had remained silent out of fear until Edwin had promised her safety. The maid revealed that, three years ago, she had been ordered by Swelina to spy on Anria and steal her diary to hand it over to her.The r

I didn't resist. Or rather, I had given up on resisting.Holden wanted me back in the juvenile wolf prison? Fine by me. I could use that opportunity to settle some scores. The warriors shoved me roughly down the long corridor. The wolves who had been shocked by my newfound power just moments ago were now pointing at me again. Their gazes were filled with disdain and malicious glee."Look, that monster is being sent back to prison again. She just got out.""Serves her right! She actually dared attack our future Luna and the heir!"They threw me into a closed prisoner transport vehicle. The car bounced as it drove toward my deepest nightmare. The juvenile wolf prison was built on the barren, frozen lands of the north. It was the forbidden ground for all wolves. It housed those deemed impure, mentally unstable, or guilty of serious crimes. The warden here was a mad wolf who enjoyed tormenting his kind. The door opened, and I was thrown out onto the ground.Priest, the head ward

The entire pack fell silent. Every wolf stared with mouths agape at the impossible sight before them.Soon, a voice whispered from the crowd, "I remember that only pups born to humans and Alphas are white. That means she could become the world's strongest half-wolf Alpha…""No way!" another voice shot back. "Anria can't be a half-wolf Alpha!"I didn't pay attention to their chatter. Under Sophie's guidance, I slowly embraced the power that came with my bloodline.Even I was astonished.By the time I mastered shifting smoothly between wolf and human forms, Holden had been watching me with a tense expression for a long time.He stepped closer. Each movement was measured, as if he were testing the waters. "Anria, our parents were pureblood wolves. Their fur was as black as obsidian. How could you…""That's because she's the child of your father's friend, the Alpha of another pack, and a human woman!" Arman stepped forward from the crowd with a serious expression."Alpha Holden, An

After I was discharged, Swelina had Beta Josh Harrell escort me back to Holden's villa. My room had been moved back to a small bedroom on the second floor, but I didn't have the energy to notice if anything had truly improved.I sank into long, endless dreams. Since Holden wouldn't let me leave, this was the only way I could return to the past. That night, I woke up with no sleep from napping all day and met Holden's gaze.He frowned at me, but there was a mix of tenderness and worry in his eyes."You're awake?" He crouched, gripping my face with a force that hurt."It's been three years, and you've made no progress. All you do is cry and act pitiful. What else can you do?"I lowered my eyes, saying nothing. The tenderness and worry I'd glimpsed before had been a lie.Holden's patience snapped. "Swelina told me that you and Arman planned everything that day. You had him say you'd lost your wolf spirit and become a worthless wolf, lower than an Omega, just to make me pity you a
