Chapter 2

Author: Faraway Galaxy
Noah tried to find the document for a while, but he finally came out empty-handed.

“Weird, the original document isn’t here.”

He picked up his phone. “Let me ask my wife.”

Mae answered the call, and he put her on speakers.

“Mae, where did you put our original document of our marriage registration? I couldn’t find it when I tried to request for a new copy of our marriage certificate.”

When she answered him, Mae sounded tender.

“Did you tear it apart again? Why are you acting so childish when you’re a father?”

He said sweetly, “Just tell me where you’ve placed it.”

“It’s with me. I’m buying a house for you today, so I brought it as a supporting document. I’ll send it back to you later.”

“Quick, I’m waiting for you at home.”

“Alright, have you bought the milk powder for our son?”

“I did; I bought the brand you mentioned last time.”

“That’s great. Wait for me to head home.” After he ended the call, he smiled sweetly.

“My wife will be home soon. Sorry you have to wait for a while longer. Oh right, let me show you my son!”

He dragged me to a bedroom. “He’s six months old, and he’s adorable.”

I was numb when he dragged me to the baby room. It was then I came back to my senses.

In the baby room, a chubby baby was sleeping in his baby cot.

Noah leaned down with a loving expression.

“He’s adorable, right? My wife said he looks just like me.”

I stood next to him as my blood ran cold.

They had a child together.

Mae and I were married for five years, and she had been pregnant six months ago.

However, she suffered from a miscarriage in the seventh month of her pregnancy. We lost our child.

Since then, she said that she wanted to prioritize her career, so she did not want to have another child at that moment in time.

I thought she was worried that I was upset, so I did not think too much about it.

It turned out that she still wanted a child, just not my child.

“What’s his name?” I asked.

Noah’s smile widened.

“Hayden Jameson. My wife named him.”

My mind went blank.

Hayden.

It was a name I came up with Mae.

Back when she was pregnant, she had wanted to brainstorm some names for our baby. I thought of a few, and we decided on Hayden.

My name also started with H, so she said it would be meaningful.

“What’s the significance of this name?” I could not help but ask.

Noah sighed.

“It was for Mae’s late husband’s name which started with an H. He passed away years ago because he was ill. This name is to celebrate his life.”

I looked at him with a bitter taste in my mouth.

Noah sounded upset.

“Whenever we fought, I would tear up our marriage certificate. Please don’t think I’m being narrow-minded. Actually, I just feel insecure.

“She has such strong feelings for her late husband. Would she feel the same for others? Maybe one day…”

He did not continue.

I stood beside the baby cot and stared at that sleeping baby. I felt conflicted.

If she did not abort our child six months ago, he would be exactly like their child as well.

“She said that her former husband died because of an illness?”

Noah smiled.

“That’s right. She was badly affected back then, and it took her years to move on. After that, she met me and slowly came out of her grief.

“Sometimes, I think it might be fate that I look a little like him.”

I stared at his face.

We did not look alike.

The only possible commonality between us was that we were both dumb.

“Does she treat you well?” I asked.

His eyes glinted.

“Of course, it’s just that she’s too busy. But she said that she’ll hand the company to someone else in a few years’ time and accompany me to travel the world.”

I nodded.

She had said the same thing to me in the past too.

In fact, she had told me that five years prior.

As for Noah, he was admitted to a mental asylum. After the Jameson family’s downfall, no one cared about him any longer. He hugged a pillow in his ward every day and said that it was his baby. He kept tearing papers, and said that he was tearing up his marriage certificate. He had gone completely insane. I heard that his family went to visit him, but when they saw how far gone his mind was, they were unwilling to take him back. The Jameson family that he deemed as his saving grace abandoned him after he had lost his value. I handled all of Mae’s assets. As her lawful husband, I had the right to handle everything she owned, including her properties, stocks, funds… I renovated the apartment that belonged to me. I threw away everything that was not mine. I hung a photo of Hayden and I on the wall. In the photo, I was hugging him with a genuine smile on my face. Hayden had grown up a little too, and he was always smiling at me. I also brought him to remove the s

The Jameson family tried to save Mae by going through all of their connections, but nothing could be done. I worked in the city hall, so I knew how to protect myself legally. Their company’s stock price plummeted, and they lost tens of billions of dollars in just a few days. Their previous partners withdrew their capital, and their competitors attacked them. I visited her once in the prison. She was wearing a prison outfit, and her hair was cut short. She looked haggard. Her eyes were bloodshot as she stared at me through the glass. “Harry, I was wrong.” That was the first thing she said to me. I looked at her. “Do you even know what you did wrong?”“I shouldn’t have lied to you… I shouldn’t have taken Hayden from you…“If I’d come clean to you earlier, we may not have ended up like this!”I laughed, “Come clean? Come clean that you’ve been sick of me for a long time, and so you found a younger man?“Or to tell me that in order to have a child, you’re treating me as

The police arrived promptly. Mae tried to put an end to the investigation by threatening the police officers with her identity and suing them. However, when I took out my marriage certificate, my property certificate, and the obvious hereditary skin tag on the back of Hayden’s ear, her explanation was futile. Noah did not believe it. He could not believe that he had been lied to for so long. He pointed at me and yelled at the police officers, “It’s him! He’s the one who seduced my wife!“He wanted to steal my child! Take him!” The police officers looked at him. “Sir, please calm down. “We’ll run a DNA test on the baby, and we’ll find out the truth.”The DNA test was the last straw on the camel’s back for Mae and Noah. While we waited for the results to come out, I stayed in a hotel with Hayden. I fed him, changed him, and coaxed him to sleep. He kept crying because I was practically a stranger to him.I did not blame him. He was only six months old. He did not kno

“What are you talking about?!” Noah jumped in anger. “This is my house! Why are you asking me to leave? “You’re a shameless man. You’re taking my wife, and now you’re taking my house!” He launched himself at me and wanted to hit me. Mae stopped him. She lowered her voice. “Harry, don’t push it.“Even if the house belongs to you, I’m the one who paid the monthly mortgage. If you bring me to court, you won’t win either.”I sneered.“Sure, then I’ll see you in court.“Let the judge know about your affair, your double marriages, and the fact that you stole my child.“Ms. Jameson, how badly do you think your company would do in the stock market then?”The words “double marriages” triggered Mae and Noah. Noah looked at Mae in shock. “Mae, we… didn’t we register for marriage?” Mae dodged his gaze. “Of course we did.”She patted him to comfort him. “Don’t listen to him. He just wants money so much that he’s gone insane.” Noah stared at her suspiciously. I looked at Noa

Blood drained out from Mae’s face. She stared at me in fear. Noah carried Hayden in his arms as he looked at me, and then at Mae. “Mae, who is he? What did he mean about former husband? Didn’t you say…” Mae came back to her senses and shielded Noah behind her back. She yelled at me, “Are you crazy?! Why are you here?!” Tears welled up as I laughed. “I’m the one who’s crazy? Mae, you treated me as though I was dead and stole my child from me. Now, you’re asking me why I'm crazy?” Noah screamed, “What are you talking about?! Hayden’s mine!“Mae, quick! Chase this crazy man out of our house!” He hugged Hayden tightly. Mae immediately charged toward me and tried to push me out. “Harry, I’m warning you! Leave now, or else I’ll take matters into my own hands!”I stumbled after she pushed me. I managed to regain my balance by holding onto the door frame. I felt a stabbing pain in my heart. I looked at her and asked, “Mae, why does Hayden have a skin tag on the back of hi

  • I Got My Wife’s Marriage Certificate Ready   Chapter 4

As I was lost in my own thoughts, Hayden suddenly started crying. Noah quickly carried him into his arms and coaxed him. I looked over, and my blood immediately ran cold. There was a small skin tag at the back of Hayden’s right ear. My eyes widened in disbelief. Six months ago, when Mae was seven months pregnant, the ultrasound showed a skin tag behind the baby’s right ear. The doctor said it was an undeveloped ear, but it would not affect the baby’s health. They would be able to remove it when he was born. Was that truly just a coincidence?“How old is this baby?” I could not help but ask. “Six months. He’s just six months old.” Noah coaxed Hayden and grumbled, “He’s too weak, and he always gets sick. The doctor said it’s because he’s a premie, so his health is affected.” My hands started shaking. “A premature birth?”“That’s right. I also felt bad for Mae. I told her even if we don’t have a child, it wouldn’t affect our relationship.“However, she insisted on g
