Chapter 34 Frightened

Luther remains nailed on the floor, gaping at Arah whose stance stays elegant as she always does despite the tears streaming down her face.

"Will love prevail if I become like my whore of a mother? Will love be enough to make me stay? Will love preempt me from being unfaithful like her?" smiling bitterly, she softly asks.

"What are you talking about, Arah?" he was baffled.

Arah never talks about her mother. Whatever they knew about their family came from her father, Dr. Rene Rechner. The old man has been bitter about his unfaithful wife but they only knew fragments of it.
