Selena Brodie laughed exasperatedly.

She turned and hurled the bottle straight at her husband’s childhood sweetheart, Melinda Sommer.

No one had expected her to grow that violent. The smile froze on Melinda’s face as she stood there, paralyzed with shock.

Luckily, Geoffrey reacted fast. He pulled Melinda out of the way in one swift motion.

The bottle grazed past her face and shattered on impact.

The room instantly reeked of liquor.

“Are you out of your mind? You could’ve killed her with a bottle that size!” he said in a harsh voice with a darkened expression.

“An alcohol allergy can kill someone too,” Selena retorted.

“Nobody said you had to drink.” His tone softened a little.

He led Melinda, who was still in shock, to sit down beside him and gently patted her back to comfort her.

Then, he spoke to Selena dismissively. “It’s just a signature. Divorce is such a hassle these days. It’s just a game. There’s no need to take it seriously.”

No need to take it seriously?

Selena stayed composed and acted tough on the surface, but inside, her heart was already shattered.

Every word Geoffrey said made it worse.

Her hand clenched at her side until her knuckles turned white.

Four years ago, Geoffrey had said that he had fallen in love with her at first sight at a party. He had told her that he did not want a cold, business-like marriage between two powerful families.

He had confessed his feelings in a grand, public way and had gone all in to win her over.

Back then, his attentiveness was unmistakable. It showed in everything from bringing her to the flower fields she loved to cooking her a warm, nutritious risotto when she was swamped with work.

It was as if he could read her mind, understanding everything she wanted without her having to say a word.

However, in just three short years, their marriage had become a joke to him, something he let his friends mock and toy with as they pleased.

How could this be just a harmless little game meant to liven up the mood?

This was a full-on calculated move to put her in her place.

No matter which choice she made, signing the divorce papers or drinking the liquor, people would talk.

They would label her as weak and easy to bully.

After this, his friends would gang up on her even more often.

When Melinda finally snapped back to her senses, she burst into tears. “Selena, why are you deliberately picking on me?

“It’s just a game of Spin the Bottle. If you can’t handle it, why’d you even play?”

Everyone looked at her accusingly.

They were all blaming her for being a poor sport and ruining the fun.

When Selena noticed the hint of smugness in Melinda’s gaze, she finally understood what was going on.

It was a setup to humiliate her in front of Geoffrey’s friends, no matter what she chose.

It was also Melinda’s first move to stake her claim after returning from overseas.

Selena looked at Geoffrey.

He did not seem like he was going to speak up for her.

Instead, he pushed the divorce papers forward again, saying, “Honey, don’t ruin the game.”

She laughed exasperatedly as she looked at everyone in the room.

A full minute passed, and no one offered her a way out. Everyone was waiting for the drama to unfold.

She took a deep breath and suppressed the last shred of hope she had been holding onto for Geoffrey.

“These divorce papers aren’t drawn up correctly. If we’re really going through with this, I’ll have my lawyer send over a new set.”

She called her lawyer directly and calmly laid out all her requirements.

Everyone was stunned.

So was Geoffrey, who, just moments ago, had been casually urging her to sign.

He abandoned Melinda, who was crying her eyes out, and rushed over to snatch the phone from Selena’s hand.

He scolded her with a dark expression, “Are you out of your mind? You’re actually going to divorce me over a stupid game?”

“Weren’t you the one who signed first? Geoffrey, the moment you treated our marriage like a joke, this divorce was inevitable,” Selena said, meeting his gaze with a look of absolute resolve.

With a firm tone, she added, “You want me to walk away with nothing? Not a chance.

“How many of your family’s partnership projects only happened because of my family? My share is not going to you and your mistress.”

She deliberately enunciated “mistress” very clearly and pointedly.

He retorted, “Mel is not a mistress. I only see her as a little sister. There’s nothing romantic going on between us.”

“Oh really?” Selena scoffed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “So you’re throwing her a welcome-home party on my dime?”

Her blunt, unfiltered remark made everyone in the room fall totally silent.

Everyone was shocked that she would call out what this gathering really was about. She had done it without caring about protecting their marriage or anyone’s reputation.

“Geoffrey, I warned you on our wedding day. If you ever make me feel even a little bit wronged, I will walk away without a second thought.”

A year later, Geoffrey was finally released from prison. The Flaig family rushed to bring him back and immediately put him in charge of the company. After all, Winston was too old and exhausted to keep running the company.Selena and Tobias had also returned to Northcrest from out of town. They bought back the Brodie family villa, renovated it to look exactly the way Selena remembered it, and moved in.She felt genuinely happy, and everything seemed to be getting better. But on an ordinary afternoon, while Selena was alone in the garden basking under the sun, she saw Geoffrey.Compared to a year ago, he was tanner and thinner. When he saw her, his eyes lit up, and he walked over faster. “Selena, I knew you’d come back here.“I reflected on myself this past year in prison. I finally see just how messed up everything I did was.”She looked up at him, touched her belly, and scoffed. “I’m pregnant. Don’t tell me you’re still trying to pull that groveling-and-winning-her-back tro

When the camp counselor came looking for her, she simply left all the snacks she had on her with him and left. When she was twelve, she went to a banquet with her parents. There, she saw some people bullying and saying mean things to a very thin boy. She could not stand it, so she called an adult over. She never expected that both of those boys she encountered were Tobias. When she first met him at summer camp, he had just lost his mother. The second time she met him, he had just been acknowledged by the Flaig family and brought to a banquet for the first time.To her, those two incidents were just tiny things that had happened in her life, and she had paid them no mind at all. When she was choosing someone to marry, Geoffrey had already been pursuing her for a year.Compared to a stranger with an unrequited love, of course she preferred the suitor who had chased her for a year.Fate really has a twisted sense of humor. If she had chosen Tobias back then, she never would hav

The Flaig family was indeed wealthy and powerful, but it also had plenty of dirty businesses. If Tobias were to be Flaig Corporation’s successor, he would first have to clean up the family’s image. He never did anything inefficient. He chose to start his own business from scratch. At this point, his own company had already dominated and taken control of a whole overseas market a long time ago. The Flaig family had no idea about this. But clearly, Lily did not believe him. “You didn’t throw your nephew behind bars for the Flaig family fortune? Then it must be for that little tramp standing next to you—!”Halfway through her sentence, she looked at their linked arms and seemed to suddenly understand.“Well, well, Selena. You little wench. You actually teamed up with your lover to put your own husband behind bars.”She was so blinded by rage that she screamed obscenities and raised her hand to slap Selena. But before the slap could land, Tobias caught her hand and held it in a

Under Geoffrey and Melinda’s hopeful gaze, Tobias said to the police, “They just threatened to imprison my wife right in front of me. You can add that to the charges when you file.”“Your wife?!” Melinda was stunned. If her hands were not currently pinned by the police, she would have rubbed her ears to check if they were blocked.Geoffrey’s eyes went wide. The moment he caught Selena looking at Tobias with affection, he completely lost it. “Selena, you betrayed me?!”“You’re the one who put the divorce papers in front of me,” she said as she naturally looped her arm through Tobias’ with a smile. They had agreed that once she and Geoffrey got the divorce decree, she would immediately register her marriage with Tobias.Tobias had originally planned to come with her. He just could not get out of a morning meeting, so he had no choice but to let her go to the courthouse by herself first. The reason she had been staying in front of the courthouse was not that she was waiting for Ge

Geoffrey’s lips quivered. He tried to speak, but he could not find any words to argue back.Just as the police were about to push him into the car, another police car sped over. The door opened, and Melinda was shoved out. They must have arrested Melinda in such a hurry that she was still wearing the same clothes from the video earlier. She only wore a coat over them to cover up enough to not be publicly indecent.“Take her back to the station for questioning. We’ve got a major case down south that needs backup, so we’re heading out first.”The police officers in the car shoved her out and drove off.She looked terrified, but the moment she saw Geoffrey, her eyes lit up with hope. “Geoff, you have to help me.“I swear I didn’t mean to do it. I just loved you too much. I was young and stupid, and that’s the only reason I did something that crazy.“It’s been so long now, and Selena’s dad’s mistress had already confessed and taken the punishment. So why are they coming after us?”

“Selena, is your heart made of stone?” Geoffrey finally snapped. He reached out and pulled Selena toward him, about to kiss her hard. The next second, two police officers restrained him.“Geoffrey Flaig, you’re under arrest for tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice, and harboring a fugitive. You’re coming with us for questioning.”Geoffrey’s heart skipped a beat. He started struggling.“Get your hands off me! What evidence do you even have? You can’t just arrest people!“I’m part of the Flaig family of Northcrest. You can’t just arrest people like this with no rhyme or reason. My legal team will fight this!”In the past, if he had thrown around that kind of status and rhetoric, the police might have hesitated. But this time, they only tightened their grip on him.“We’re doing this by the book. We’ve got a full chain of evidence right here. We don’t care about your family background. Nobody is above the law.”When Geoffrey heard the words “a full chain of evidence,”
