Heidi’s POV
The school’s concert of the year was coming up, and everyone was excited and getting ready to be picked as the main role for the school play.
Mrs. McClure, our new coordinator for the concert came into the class after lunch break with her assistant, Miss Luna.
“Okay, everyone. We are gonna be talking about the school concert for the year. The play is going to be based on friendship and love.”
At the mention of that, the whole place lightened up with cheering while some only mocked at it.
I had just one thought in my head as I thought about the play's theme. I thought about Lucas. It was as though, the play was gonna be about us.
“The main and supporting roles will be chosen according to your outlooks and performances. Rehearsals starts immediately the bell rings.” Mrs. McClure announced.
She left the class few minutes later, and everyone started talking about the concert.
After classes were over, everyone started heading towards the school hall. I stayed behind in class, realizing that for the first time in our lives, Lucas didn’t bring me lunch.
It was shocking. I was greatly dazed.
I waited for half an hour, alone in the class, waiting for Lucas. I didn’t see him. He didn’t come in at all.
Trying so hard to stop the tears from streaming down my cheeks, I grabbed my back with unnecessary force and marched out of the classroom.
Immediately I stepped out, my eyes landed on Daniella, sitting down under the shade just few meters away from the canteen. I stared at her, having this hunch that she was waiting for Lucas.
I folded my arms, walked towards her. “What are you doing here?”
“Oh! Hi! It’s good to see you!” She said cheerfully, stretching her hand out for a handshake.
I glared down at her hand, stared back at her face. “I am not interested in shaking hands with you. So, keep it to yourself.” I spoke so rudely, the thought of Lucas not coming to visit me all because of her rang loudly in my head.
She withdrew her hand slowly, staring at me with her cheerfulness disappearing too. “You seem mad at me. Did I do something wrong?”
“You did everything wrong! I don’t like you, so you’d better stay away from me.”
Daniella stepped back, and shrugged. “I don’t know why you seem so mad, but I hope we get along for the sake of Lucas.”
That really got me so pissed off, and my anger was renewed. “Talking about Lucas, where’s he?” I asked through clenched teeth.
“He went to get lunch before we can join the concert rehearsals.” She replied and I saw bright red.
My fingers itched to scratch her eyes out as I heard that. I glanced towards the school café, stared back at her. “He went to get what? For who?”
“Lunch. For…us?” Daniella replied, looking a bit confused.
I was going to reply when someone pulled my hair softly. Before I could turn, I knew who it was. Lucas was the only one could do that. I would shake my pigtails, turn and role my eyes.
But today, I turned sharply to look at him, my eyes down on his hands. He was holding two plastic bags from the cafeteria.
Two plastic bags. Lucas didn’t get mine.
“Are you okay?” He asked with a slight frown, and walked towards Daniella. He stood beside her, still looking at me.
“You didn’t come to see me. You didn’t bring me anything at lunch break. Today is the first time it’s happening.” I said, looking straight into his eyes.
Lucas sighed and shook his head. “I’m sorry, Heidi. I got so occupied at lunch break with the band team. I couldn’t eat anything myself, so I got this after practicing because I thought you must have gotten something to eat.”
I shook my head. “No. I’ve not gotten anything, and I’m mad at you right now. How could you get something for her and yourself without even checking up on how I’m doing?”
Lucas looked at Daniella and that only fueled my anger. “I already said 'sorry', Heidi. Why are you so paranoid these days?”
“Am I?” I asked, folding my arms, and slid a look at Daniella. “And…all these for her?”
“Why do you always direct everything back at Daniella? She’s done nothing!” Lucas said in a raised voice.
I shook my head, staring at him. Without another word, I turned and left the school premises, skipped the concert rehearsals and went straight home with my heart so made up with the plan of dealing with Daniella.
At that point, I became something else, always thinking of plans; plans that would ruin Daniella’s friendship with my best friend.
I wanted my best friend back. My best friend who I’d fallen in love with, whom I was going to confess to about my growing feelings for him.
Daniel has got to be out of the picture, either by hook or crook.
*
I got home really mad that day, but when I got into the house, my anger doubled and I felt like I was gonna explode.
Too much for one day!
In the living room was my dad, making out with his new girlfriend in one of the couches.
I stood at the edge of the hallway, staring at them with my mouth wide open. “Dad!!” I screamed so loud that my lungs hurt.
“My love!” Dad gasped, lifting himself off the blondie laying sprawled like a lose cow on the couch. I felt like walking off to her, and kicking her out of my house!
“What is happening here right now? Who the hell is that?” I shrieked, unable to believe my eyes.
My dad was wearing nothing but his briefs. He quickly grabbed his pants, threw in his legs as I walked closer.
“Don’t be so harsh with your words, my love. Go upstairs, change into something and come back down so I can introduce you guys.” Dad stuttered, putting a arm around me.
I shrugged off his hand, staring angrily at the woman who sat leg crossed on the couch, staring back at me. “I can’t believe this, and for your latest information, I’m not interested in any nonsense introduction!” I shook my head, turned around and ran all the way upstairs. Heartbroken.
Now, the two men in my life are gonna be taken away. Taken away from me.
But was I gonna take it? No. Never. Daniella and this strange woman I just caught with my father are going down the drain.
They should watch out.
It was a little bit dark in the room when Tristan walked in. Gianna was awake, she was sitting up quietly."Hey." Tristan whispered as he walked towards the bed. He sat at the edge and took Gianna's hand in his. "How are you now?"Gianna smiled and shrugged. "I've never been any better. Thank you."Tristan stared down at her stomach, smiled and looked back into her face. "My baby is still down there?"Gianna chuckled. "Yeah. She or he is still there, waiting for the day of arrival into the world. How did you get here? Why did you change your mind?"Tristan shrugged. "I don't know, perhaps... because I couldn't continue living without you, because I wanted to see Layla and to forgive her so I could get the burden off my chest.""You did the right thing, Tristan. The right thing..." Gianna's voice trailed off when she remembered all that Nelson had said."What's it? Are you okay?" Tristan questioned when he noticed the sudden change in her mood. Gianna turned and looked at him. "While
That same night, Tristan left the house quietly. He was glad that both his mother and Tracy were already fast asleep and that made it possible and easy for him to leave. He dialled the line which Nicholas had called him with as he walked briskly to his car. Just when he got in, Nicholas picked the call."I'm on my way right now, send the address to this number." Tristan said, starting the car engine."I already sent it. The police are just arriving! I will hang up now because I have to escape. He's going to kill me.""Wait... what is...?" Tristan stopped when the line clicked off. He threw the phone on the seat beside him and drove out of the compound, speeding away madly in the dark.**Nelson bursted into the room, rushing towards Gianna who looked very alarmed. The sounds of siren was all over the place which indicated that the police were around. Nelson grabbed Gianna, loosening the ropes bounding her. He jerked her up to her feet and started dragging her out of room.Struggling
Nicholas sat in the dark, thinking deeply on what to do. He needed to save Gianna at all cost, he needed to redeem his mistakes and real fast.He was still finding it hard to believe he helped abduct Gianna who was pregnant."I'm never going to forgive myself if anything happens to her, I need to talk to Tristan right away. No matter the consequences, I need to do this." Nicholas thought. He stood up and walked slowly towards the main entrance. He stood in front of the door, eavesdropping. He could hear Nelson, talking to Gianna. He backed the door, steadying his breath. He would have to wait for another opportunity to be alone with Gianna again, and that would enable him get Tristan's contact.Quietly, he left the main entrance back to the veranda.**"You're not going to achieve anything with what you are doing, give up already because you are about to hit rock bottom." Gianna said softly to Nelson who was seated in front of her.Nelson stared down at the cigarette between his fin
Samantha got home very late in the night and as she expected, Quentin and Agnes werr already waiting for her in the living room. They looked alarmed as she walked into the house. "Where have you been?" Agnes asked, standing up from the couch.Samantha looked at Quentin, she couldn't bring herself to tell him that his daughter was missing but she had to tell him somehow."I'm coming from Gianna's house...""Is something wrong?" Quentin asked when Samantha's voice trailed off.Samantha nodded, closing her eyes. "Gianna is missing, someone abducted her." Samantha said, wiping tears off her face. Quentin frowned, trying to understand what the girl was saying. "What do you mean by she's been abducted? By who?""My brother." Samantha replied with more tears.Agnes gasped, her hands covering her mouth. "Nelson?" Samantha nodded.Samantha nodded."Why? Why would he do that?" Agnes asked again."He's using her as a bait to get someone." Samantha replied. She looked at Quentin and all she
"He's calling again." Nelson laughed when Gianna's phone began to ring again in his hand. He answered the call and put the phone on loud speaker. "You never give up, don't you? Why don't you give up and just go to bed?""What do you want?" Tristan cold voice came from the other side of the line. "Tell me what he sh*t you want!" "I don't think you have what I want, b*stard. Do you have my father there with you? I will like to exchange him for your Gianna. She looks so pretty, you know. What shall I do with her?" Nelson asked in a menacing tone. "Why would I have you father? What the hell do you want?" Tristan asked again."Are you asking me that? You brought down my family you jerk! My father is suffering away in the prison and you dare ask me that? You want Gianna back, huh? Come find her.""Where are you?" Tristan asked in a stiff voice. He stood beside the road, glaring angrily. "Put Gianna on the line, I want to make sure she's fine." *Nelson stared down at Gianna and smiled ev
"Goddamit!" Tristan cursed, almost smashing the phone on the ground.Samantha was trembling. She just spoke to her brother and he sounded like a different person entirely."He's got Gianna! What are we gonna do!" Samantha panicked.Tristan stood akimbo, boiling and fuming with anger. "He doesn't know who he's dealing with. He's making a bug mistake with me." Tristan voice was extremely cold and deep.Samantha trembled more. She fear she might lose her brother and she couldn't stop thinking about Gianna. Why would Nelson ever think of abducting her? Why her? Sammy thought deeply."I should call Tracy and Layla, and let them know what's happening." Samantha said with trembling voice.Tristan didn't reply, he was too devasted to say anything. He sat down on the nearest sofa, contemplating on what to do."Don't call them yet." Tristan said just when Samantha was going to dial Tracy's line. "What? They have to know what's happening. At least, her mother." Samantha chipped in."I need to t
