CHAPTER TWO

Sophia's POV

The party had ended due to my sudden exclamation which caused a lot of murmuring among them.

I was growing angry and impatient as I was so desperate to listen to my father's reasons for announcing an engagement without telling me before.

It was more infuriating as he sat down, saying nothing at all.

I wasn't ready for any marriage and I wasn't going to do so. Especially not to man that I've never known.

"Oh yes you are young lady." My dad replied in a slightly hoax tone.

"Dad listen I_"

"There is no contradiction here daughter." He interrupted and continued immediately. "You are marrying Tony Hartz and that's final." He said and left.

Dad was even more angry than I was...

Milicent's POV

I walked inside the bedroom immediately after my husband and closed the door.

"She has refused to marry him. What now?" I asked and he didn't say a thing. He just chuckled seconds after.

"What is so funny?" I asked and he looked at me.

"You my dear." He replied.

"When did you start caring about her?" He asked and I scoffed. Not like I cared.

"I am not being caring. I am just asking you a simple question. Cindy has shown her interest and in the man. Why can't you let her marry him?"

"No." He interrupted.

"Sophia is marrying him and that's final." He scolded and went to bed to sleep.

I walked to the other side of the bed and sat on it, wondering on what could be the deal in forcing a marriage on someone that did not want it.

Tony's POV

"I knew he would accept the offer." My dad told the old seer and I sighed.

I just hated the fact that I couldn't do anything to stop the engagement because I also wasn't happy hearing that I had to be bonded in marriage to someone as rude as her.

*****

"Did you just call me rude?" Sophia chirped in.

"You are interrupting." Cindy scolded but Sophia cared less.

"But he just called me rude."

"Of course I did. You were so rude. Did you even collect the flowers I gave you that day with a smile?" He asked and she kept mute.

"Well you were - but right now, you are the best wife and any man will be jealous of me right now." Tony said earning a blush from her and purrs from the others.

"Ok! So where was I?"

*****

My phone rang and it was Cindy calling. I presumed that she must have be devastated at the announcements.

"They have to get married in two months time and during the full moon." The seer said.

I was confused but more of shocked, wondering if it wasn't too early for me to get married.

"Sorry. Is it not too early?" I asked the seer and he looked at me expressionless.

"It is never too early. You have to do it quick. You know the consequences of further delay." I just nodded.

I wasn't that much bothered because the period of two months was enough time for me to sought things out and annul the wedding.

"I will be in my room now." I told them and headed upstairs for my room so I could make a call to Cindy.

She answered the call after a third ring.

"Hey babe." I greeted as soon as she picked up the call.

She sniffed as a reply.

"Cindy! Are you alright?" I asked and she scoffed.

"Yes I'm fine. Since my boyfriend is getting married to my step-sister." She wailed over the phone.

"Hey listen. I_"

"I really don't want to hear it." She cut me.

"How could you allow them choose for you?" She cried again but I couldn't tell her the reason why because it was silly and she wouldn't have believed it.

I even wondered on how I was going tell her that it was necessary without raising her suspicions.

"Tony, are you there?" She asked and I sighed.

"Yes I am. Look here Cin, I will find a way to annul this ok. I won't marry her. I won't even get engaged to her."

"Ok. Good night. I want to sleep." She ended the call immediately and I sighed.

I needed to start working on this. I needed to find a way to break the curse.

Sophia's POV

I still wasn't able to sleep at all. I mean who would have slept when the day had been spoiled?

Despite every single moment that I was trying to catch some sleep, the thoughts still came back, precisely the part where dad said he was getting me engaged. I kept asking myself why he had to make such a decision without even telling me.

A worried heart and a troubled soul was what I was left with the whole night. But my mind had been made up not to get married because I just did not want to.

****

"But Cindy I saw you going out that night." Sophia said and Cindy's countenance changed to a guilty look.

"Well yes you did. I didn't want anyone to see that I was going out that late at night." She replied.

         General POV

Cindy walked out of the gate and entered a car that was waiting for her outside.

Her ride reached it's destination and she went out and knocked on the gate.

Someone opened it for her and she walked in.

"If it isn't my lucky day." A man said from the dark walking into the light.

"Cindy Alfredo Devale. What brings you to my den?" The man asked in a husky tone.

"I need you to do me a favour." She said in a hoax voice and smirked afterwards.

~~~
Tony's father was seen descending the stairs and momentarily taking a look at the stairs just above him. He was walking quickly but swiftly to the old seer so as to avoid noise.
"He's asleep." He said. "What now?" He asked the seer who just feigned a smile.
"We can't keep lying to him Mr Hartz. Tony will eventually die." The old seer said while Tony's dad closed his eyes tight in pain.
