CLARA’S POV

I leaned back in the hammock, eyes fixed on the clear sky, gently rubbing my stomach.

I used to wonder how women could carry life inside them and still manage to do so much. But now, I understood.

Ever since I felt my wolf, since the night Edward marked me, I’d felt like a completely different person.

Healthier. Stronger. More alive.

“Here are the documents you asked for, Luna Clara,” Lydia’s voice broke into my thoughts. I looked up and saw her standing beside me, holding out a few papers.

“Everything about the company launch is in here,” she added as I took them from her hand.

“I’m really glad we’re moving forward with the plans, Luna,” she said, her grin wide and excited.

I forced a small smile, nodding as my fingers brushed over the papers.

But inside, I felt a sense of unease.

No matter how far I tried to move forward, the fear still clung to me. Maybe it was just paranoia. Maybe not.

I hated the way my chest tightened every time the memories c

CLARA’S POV “Hi.” A small woman with freckles and round glasses perched on her nose walked up to me, a polite smile on her face and her hand outstretched. Before she could get too close, two guards stepped in, blocking her path. They squared their shoulders, clearly on alert. I studied her for a moment. She wore a white short-sleeved shirt with a stiff tie and held a black bag tightly in one hand. I raised a brow, curious. Who was she? She noticed and swallowed nervously, adjusting her glasses. “I—I’m Samantha,” she said, voice a little shaky. “Samantha Winters. The journalist.” Ah. She swallowed again but lifted her chin. “It’s truly an honor to work with you, Luna. Thank you for the opportunity.” I kept my eyes on her and gave a small nod. “Yeah, so…” It was true—I asked Lydia to find a journalist to cover the company launch and help spread our goal to every part of the pack. I motioned to the guards to let her through. They stepped back reluctantly. Her smil

  • I Married An Alpha After Divorce   Chapter 096: Something

Clara’s POV Memories of those times flashed before my eyes. Memories of being tortured and tormented by a lunatic I couldn’t see his face. Memories of almost losing my baby… My blood ran cold, congealing and making me numb right to my toes, as I stared at the bite mark on his hand, my heart pounding in my ears. So, it was Henry? It had to be him… because what other explanation could there be for the bite mark on his hand I was currently staring at? I remembered biting my abductor that day, as he’d tried to choke me in that forest, when I’d attempted escaping.. I’d told Edward I could recognize my abductor’s scent if I ever came across him, yet, here I sat, facing him now, and I’d failed to pick the scent. It was the bite mark that had given him away instead. Slowly, I lifted my eyes from his hand to his face, staring into his eyes that now seemed very familiar. How had I missed those cold, dark eyes? The agitation that had coursed through my veins each time I laid my

Nate’s POV “Henry Sterling, cousin to Edward Sterling, the Alpha of the territory, has just been arrested as the culprit behind the kidnap of Luna Clara, and the sabotaging events that had taken place these past few weeks.” I stared at the T.V screen, rage and agitation coursing through me, my eyes burning. “This happened earlier today,” the broadcaster continued, “after the culprit had moved into the estate and harassed the Luna, threatening to kill—“ I switched off the television, not wanting to hear any more of that. I let out a huge sigh, tapping my feet against the floor. What the hell was going on? I mean, generally, and with me… I couldn’t deny that I was scared, really scared, especially after this news I’d just seen. How come things kept going well for Edward and Clara? They had somehow discovered the person behind her kidnap, and I was scared now that they might catch up to me soon enough. My mind was not at ease, at all. Henry Sterling…so it had been h

Clara’s POV My eyes quivered open as the doctor cleared his throat, focusing on Edward’s face hovering so close above mine, his eyes dark with concern, his brows equally furrowed. Managing a small smile, I lifted my fingers and skimmed his stubble in a reassuring gesture, then slid my gaze over to the doctor, who stood close by with a stethoscope around his neck, and an iPad in his hands. “Doc, is she okay?” Edward asked, his tone laced with the same concern I saw in his eyes. The doctor stared at the screen for a while, his brows slightly furrowed, and in those few seconds, I could tell how tensed Edward was, from the way he held his breath to the tensing of his muscles underneath my palm. “Yes,” the doctor replied finally, “she’s okay.” “Luckily,” he continued, moving to where I lay and examining the claw marks around my neck, “the marks aren’t deep enough, so no major damage was done. The scratches will take a while, after I put on some ointment.” Edward exhaled shaki

Clara’s POV I sat across from the burly, curly-haired man in a sleek black suit, two steaming mugs of coffee sitting on the table separating us two. Clearing my throat, I leaned forward and clasped my palms on the table. “Thanks for meeting with me on such short notice,” I started in a cheery tone, a small smile playing on my lips, and he nodded, fixing me with a curious glare, like he was trying to figure out why I’d fixed a meeting with him, from my face. “Actually, have you heard about the fintech startup I’ll be launching soon?” The question had fallen out without warning, and I drew back a bit, wondering if I’d been a little too direct. “Fintech?” He repeated, raising a brow. “You plan on going into the loan and investment business?” Although the incredulity in his tone irked me, I pushed on, maintaining the tight smile. “I have in fact, stepped in, Mr. Brown. It’s just the launch left now.” “I see,” he replied, his brows furrowing a bit. “Well,” I continued, su

Clara’s POV “I think this right here,” Edward started, a glint in his eyes, “is the best sight I’ve seen all my life.” I smiled, shaking my head as I smeared butter into the pan. “Really?” I murmured, throwing in the onions. “Hell yes, Clara. You’re making me a meal! Do you know how heartwarming that is? And I mean, I’m going to have to eat you out right after, seeing as I’m having a boner right now, watching your ass move around like that.” Blushing deeply, I turned to stare at him in surprise, unable to hide the blush in my cheeks. “You’re being a little brazen tonight, aren’t you?” He gave me a half smile, shrugging. “That’s your fault, isn’t it?” Smiling and shaking my head, I poured in the remaining vegetables and stirred thoroughly, then I waded over to the overhead counter and stood on tiptoes to retrieve the cheese there. Just then, I felt Edward come up behind me, my breath hitching in my throat as his hard sledge rubbed against me. “I’m here for things like

NATE’S POV I was going through the daily reports in my office when the intercom buzzed. I sighed and pressed the button. “Mr. Dawson is here to see you,” my secretary said. Dawson was here? So soon? I pressed the button, wondering if it was about our last discussion. “Let him in.” I told her. A few seconds later, the door opened. Dawson walked in, but he wasn’t alone. A woman followed behind him. My eyes dropped to her stomach, round and hard to miss. She was pregnant. Very pregnant. Six months, maybe more. Wow. I didn’t expect this. It hadn’t even been more than a week since Dawson and I spoke about my problems. I thought it would take at least a month for him to find a pregnant woman willing to do what was required but from the look of things, it wasn’t that difficult. He was already here with a solution. We exchanged a quick handshake. He sat down across from me without waiting for an invitation, then nodded toward the woman. “She’s six months along,” he s

NATE’S POV I got home late, the weight of the day still hanging off my shoulders. Amanda’s arrival had gone smoother than I expected, and now it was time to deal with the loose ends. One, in particular, had overstayed her welcome. Isla. She was on the couch, curled up like she owned the place, watching TV and eating grapes. As if she wasn’t the biggest disappointment of the year. I didn’t wait for her to notice I was home. “You’re done,” I said flatly as soon as I entered. She looked up at me, confused for half a second. “What?” And then, like she suddenly remembered I was just coming back, she stood up, drawing close to me. “You’re late today. Work must have been stressful.” She moved to touch my face but I hit her hand away. “You’re leaving tonight.” I told her firmly, trying not to sound irritated as I felt. “You failed to do the one thing I kept you here for. You’re useless now.” She paused, as if trying to make sense of what I said. “Excuse me?” “You couldn

Clara’s POVI picked up the list on the table and swept a quick glance over it, taking note of the line of activities that had been mapped out for the launch day.Was user-feedback really necessary?—Yes, it is, if I intend making a name for myself in this world of finance…I picked up a pen, contemplating ruling out that activity, and just then, the door to my room pushed open, and Edward appeared in the doorway.“Hey,” he rasped, his gaze soft on my face, and smiling up at him, I threw the list down on the desk and crossed the room, into his open arms.“Hi,” I mumbled into his chest, my fingers biting into his skin, and pulling back a bit, he leaned down and planted a kiss on my lips.“I missed you,” he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Did you miss me?”I nodded, giggling. “Of course. What do you think?”Nodding, his hands slid up my waist to my tummy, caressing the barest bump gently. “How’s our little man, or woman, doing?” He asked, cocking a brow. “Any kicks yet?”I smil

Edward’s POVI walked into the room where the man we’d captured was being kept and tortured, my eyes taking in his bloodied frame.Jack was the man that had tried to kill Clara and Lydia, and he has refused to spill the name(s) of who had sent him.No matter how much he’d been beaten and battered, he’d remained mute and only continued to plead incoherently.Immediately, my shadow fell on him in the single-window room, he lifted his head and saw me standing there, cowering back in fear and visibly trembling.I stared hard at him, my jaw set in a grim line. Why is he so scared if he isn’t willing to talk? What is he ao afraid of? Who is he so afraid of?Perhaps he was holding onto something… holding back something…Rolling up my sleeves, I beckoned to the men standing outside the room, and they entered immediately.“Shave off his head,” I ordered, nodding towards Jack, who started to whimper pathetically, shaking his head.“No, p-please,” he cried, trying to scamper backwards. “Don’t do

Clara’s POVI let out a deep sigh, placing both hands on my waist in a tired stance.I was taking a walk with Edward, and as much as I used to enjoy doing this with him, I honestly couldn’t say the same now.I was completely exhausted. But he couldn’t even tell…“Come on,” he urged, trying to take the hand on my waist.I sighed again, reaching up to push back my hair. “I’m pregnant, Edward,” I rasped out, spreading my palms, “unlike you. So I don’t expect you to understand what it's like walking miles, whilst having a baby in your womb. It’s not freaking easy.”“You’re right,” he replied, a small smile staining his lips. “That’s why you have me, to help you.”He reached down again and gently took my hand in his, guiding me forward. “We still have to get to that hill, remember?”Sighing, I let him guide me, taking slow, painstaking steps towards the direction he guided me, until the hill came into sight. Finally, we got to the hill, and I let out a deep breath, appreciating the feel of

Nate’s POV I glanced over at the ginger-haired woman with an average bump, my jaw ticking as I contemplated if she was the right fit for the job. No—if she could execute the plan the way to my satisfaction. I cleared my throat loudly, drawing her attention. “So,” I started, “let’s go over the plan one more time.” She nodded, turning to me. “First off,” I pulled up my sleeves, counting off on my fingers, “you barge into any news network and demand to have an interview. Now, why do we need an interview?” I spread my palms, “to expose me,” I added almost immediately, in response to my question, as I pointed at my chest. She nodded, following closely. “When an interview is granted,” I continued, “you’ll claim to be carrying my child, and I’ve been sending just $10,000 monthly, for support.” “Obviously,” I scoffed, “the amount is outrageous already, and people would think you’re just being selfish, but that’s not the point here.” “The point is,” I drew closer, “to show that I have

Clara’s POV Henry and I stared at each other for what felt like forever, my eyes burning with anger, his full of something else. Maybe surprise that I wanted to see him. Finally, he sighed, leaning back with a shrug. “Fine. I’ll tell you, since you’re so desperate to know.” I couldn’t help the small sigh of satisfaction that slipped from me as I leaned back in my seat, folding my arms. “I’m all ears.” “But first,” he said, smiling, “Why are you so covered up?” He raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Let me guess, you don’t want to be seen with me?” I shot him a glare, my lips pressing into a tight line. “That’s not important right now.” He shrugged again, biting back a laugh. He signaled the waitress, ordering an iced coffee and a bagel, then leaned forward, clasping his hands on the desk. I watched him, trying to decide if I could trust anything that came from the mouth of someone so… off. There was something unsettling about him with each se

CLARA’S POV A rush of adrenaline coursed through my veins. My eyes flew open, and I could feel something stirring deep inside me: a soft, steady thumping. Was that… my wolf? Lying against Edward’s chest, I lifted my fingers to my neck, gently caressing the bite mark. Then my hand drifted to my chest, pausing over my heart, feeling the pulse beneath my skin. Yes… that was truly my wolf. “Clara…” A faint, almost whispering voice called to me, and I jolted upright, clutching my chest as my heart hammered wildly. Was that her voice? Edward stirred beside me, his gaze sharp and cautious as he watched me. “Is everything okay?” I nodded shakily, rubbing my palms against my chest to steady myself. “Yeah, I… I think I just heard my wolf’s voice.” My words were breathless, disbelief still clinging to them. Edward’s eyes widened, and he quickly propped himself up. His hand gently covered mine, his touch warm and comforting. “And I think I can feel her too,” I added, my voice barely a
