Chapter 5

The smile on Lisa's face instantly disappeared.

She panicked and looked at Lucien.

"Lucien, this shewolf is lying through her teeth! Make her leave right away!"

Lucien didn't move.

He glanced at Lisa and the pup in her arms.

He then lifted his gaze and looked past her shoulder at me.

I met his gaze and spoke word by word.

"She only knows the first half.

"There's another sentence after that. It was my reply to you.

"I said–"

My voice was carried through the snowstorm and reached the ears of every werewolf present.

"If you don't come back, I'll miss you every moonlit night from then on."

I saw tears glistening in Lucien's eyes.

His lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but Lisa's scream interrupted him.

"Shut up! Shut up!

"You wretch! You actually read the letters I wrote to Lucien!"

She charged toward me, raised her hand furiously, and tried to slap me.

My pup was squeezed uncomfortably by her other arm and began wailing.

Lucien frowned.

"Hand me the pup."

Lisa immediately stumbled backward.

With a look of utter grievance, she asked Lucien, "Lucien, do you believe what she said?"

Tears rolled down her cheeks one after another as she cried pitifully.

"I went through all that pain to give you this pup. I don't blame you for forgetting my face because your wolf spirit was damaged, but you can't just turn your back on us!

"If you won't acknowledge me, then I have no choice but to die with this pup!"

She deliberately placed herself in the position of the victim.

She also deliberately brought Lucien's amnesia before the entire pack.

I could already hear the whispers around me.

"Alpha really did suffer damage to his wolf spirit. He doesn't remember anyone."

"That shewolf has the necklace, the pup, and the letters. How could she not be more credible than someone who has nothing?"

I suddenly laughed.

Lisa glared viciously at me.

"What are you laughing at?"

"I'm laughing because you came to claim the identity of Luna in such a hurry without preparing properly."

I looked at her calmly.

"Since you're Layla, let me ask you something. There was something missing when Lucien first sent Layla a letter.

"Tell me. What was missing?"

Lisa froze for a moment before putting on an indifferent expression.

"It was so long ago. Who could remember something like that?"

She then turned the accusation back on me.

"If you can answer that, it only proves that you deliberately memorized every little detail because you were plotting this!"

I shook my head.

"You might forget other things, but you could never forget this.

"Let me answer for you."

Lisa's expression changed.

"The werewolves in the place where Lucien was stationed were rather wild, and there was a particular style of lingerie that was famous there.

"Before he left, I asked him to send me a piece. Lucien was actually embarrassed and refused at first.

"But he bought one anyway when he sent me his first letter.

"He slipped that thin piece of lingerie into the envelope and intended to send it along with the letter, but the messenger told him that sending an item cost extra and wasn't covered by the price of mailing a letter.

"He only had enough money to send one letter, so he didn't send it the first time.

"It wasn't until his second letter that he included a note explaining what had happened.

"He even said it was too embarrassing for an Alpha and made me promise to keep it a secret. He insisted that I burn the note after reading it.

"That's why you had no idea about this."
