LOGINDraven's POV
The wind outside the encampment howled like something alive, dragging through the thin canvas walls and rattling the iron fixtures with restless fury. Night had fallen hard over the territory, swallowing the land in a cold darkness that felt heavier than usual, as though the sky itself was pressing down in anticipation of something unsaid. Even the fires outside burned low, their glow trembling against the shadows that moved between tents like wary ghosts. Nothing about the night felt safe. Nothing about it felt still. And I knew, without needing anyone to tell me, that whatever had crossed into my borders tonight had already shifted the balance of everything I thought I controlled. “We can’t take her in, Lord Draven. We can’t make that mistake,” Thor, my beta’s voice shot out the second I reached my private quarters. I hadn’t even settled down when he began, nor had I thought of what to do with the girl. She seemed loud mouthed. Yes. Loud mouthed and bold. Fearless even. For years I’ve watched people who were stronger than her and even in higher authority than she currently was cower at my feet, unable to talk back at me or even meet my gaze to my face. But she had broken that. She not only spoke to me but was disrespectful about it, showing not an atom of fear when she reminded me of harsh memories that could have made me kill her. She didn’t fear for her life, nor even the fact that she was a wolf from Moonstone Pack and in the midst of rogues. “Lord Draven, you can’t. Don’t forget what the rogues would say. She’s a lady from Moonstone Pack and from the men chasing her, she seems like their Luna. Taking her in is only going to make us be in bad blood with Moonstone. That is enough for them to wage war against us!” “Should we keep on running, scared that they might wage a war against us then?” I snapped, hitting my hand on the table. No longer acting disinterested like I had earlier, or pretending not to hear what he was saying. Thor’s lips flew open as he stared at me, either in shock or confusion, I couldn’t tell which one it was. He had always known me to be one who wanted to avoid war by all means. Hearing me speak against my previous plans suddenly didn’t sit well with him. “Don’t tell me…” he began before his voice trailed off. Thor was wise. Wise and advanced in age, not just skilled in combat. It was the reason I had made him my beta. So it wasn’t a surprise when he was very quick to catch up with what was happening. “Has the young lady’s words gotten to you, Alpha? Is that why you’re suddenly relenting on the mantra we’ve always followed all these years? Please reconsider!” he shouted, throwing himself on the floor as he knelt before me. “We’ve lost a lot of our brothers in the constant fights at the border with the wolves of Moonstone Pack. We’ve lost our families! We rogues decided to follow you because of your strong and unwavering leadership, are you going to throw it all away because a…” He paused, unable to finish what he wanted to say, scared that he might appear disrespectful. The silence that followed was heavier than his words. Because deep down, even I knew something had already shifted the moment she looked at me without fear. “What if this were a ruse? Everyone of us knows how desperate your brother and his son are to go to war with you. We’ve only been able to prevent it all these years, scared of losing our men… what if this was a plan of theirs to make sure that there is a just reason for them to attack us?” he went on. My gaze faltered for a while and I found myself staring at him. I didn’t know what to believe either. If this was fate and Bella wasn’t in danger, if she had been sent here with the intention of making me believe that I needed to go to war, if it had all been planned to make me take her in, seeing her as helpless while Ronan would use the excuse that I had taken his mate to attack my rogues. “She might even be a spy planted by them, to watch your movements and report back to them. Everyone knows how your reputation has spread all over their packs. It’s only understandable that they are scared that you would take actions against them, which is why they’re taking precautions to prevent that.” I hadn’t even been given a moment to think when he went on with his explanations. I was speechless and unsure of what to believe. He was making sense, but a part of my mind wanted me to believe that Bella was truly helpless. A part of me truly wanted to believe that she had come here with genuine intentions, and not as a spy. The way I had seen her running, the way the guards of Moonstone Pack were even chasing her, it didn’t look as if she had been in their good books. That was a treatment given to wolves they were in bad blood with. How could someone in such a situation be a spy? “The highest we can do right now is to hand her some tales of silver and send her away from the encampment. She’ll be able to survive the night with it. Away from us,” he went on. “She’s only here to incite you into going into an unplanned war with Ronan so that he would finish you off with his wolves. Of course we shouldn’t fall for such a cheap trick.” My mind was all over the place as I didn’t know what to believe. But just as I was thinking, a knock arrived at the door, jolting me out of my trance. Who could it be? I wondered, and at such a time of the night.Draven's POV.The meeting between the elders and I had just ended when I overheard voices coming from the down hall. I recognize the first voice… Thor’s. At first, I thought it was just him having a conversation with the guards and them arguing about one issue or the other, but then again, I heard a feminine voice.Bella? I muttered. What could they be talking about? Is Thor too busy to argue with a lady? I headed towards that direction, and just as I was about to get close to them. I heard my name from behind.“Lord Draven,” a husky voice called. I quickly made a turn to see who it was, and standing in front of me was Alan, my errand boy. “Good day, Lord Draven. I came to report to you on my latest research,” he added. He had this expression that sent happiness across, definitely he must have gotten a big catch.“Did you get something in my favor?” I inquired. He nodded, “I came back as fast as I could because I know you would be pleased to hear this.”I chuckled. “Wait at my stud
Ronan’s POV. His words didn't just sting, they burned. “I'm deeply sorry, Alpha Prince, we couldn't find her.” The chair scraped on the floor as I stood. My hand hit the table before I could even realize it. Books flipped over as papers scattered on the floor. How bold of him to say those words to me! My breath came fast, no matter how hard I tried to suppress it, I just couldn't. Bella was the key to being crowned an alpha and the ruler of the pack. She is just an omega, there is no way she would have run further than my reach. I slowly stride towards the direction Denis was standing. “How incompetent of you!” I half yelled. I could clearly see my veins retracting from my skin. "I'm sorry…" “Shut the fuck up, Denis!” I cut him off. “Bella is just an omega, you have more powers than her. How come you weren't able to find her?” I questioned. He remained quiet, then went ahead to speak. “I feel she must have gotten help from someone who knows around. We searched everywhere, and

Bella's POV“An alpha should know when to be a coward and when his people's desperate pleas for justice should touch him!”“A highborn heir, a firstborn and rightful apparent to the throne should fight for his justice when it is being denied him!”“An alpha prince gets trials! He doesn't just get banished after being accused of a crime, regardless of what it might be… but that wasn’t the case with you, Draven." I went on despite knowing that I was at his mercy. That I was only surviving the night, not bound or in chains at Moonstone pack because of him.“You were banished before you could even defend yourself! Your brother had wanted to execute you before the banishment sentence was chosen instead. Are you just going to sit back and watch as everything you deserve as an alpha prince goes over to your brother and his son?”“How bold of you! Remember that you are merely being allowed to stay in our encampment. How dare you say that to the Lord?” a rogue’s voice shot at me from behind,
Bella's POVThe guards refused to let me enter the rogue encampments again. This was going to be the tenth time this evening."The Lord asked you to leave. Didn't you hear him when he told you that at the free plains?" one had snapped at me, his voice edged with irritation and something darker, but I didn’t care. Not even about his threats to have my skin smoked and eaten by him and his men on patrol. The way he said it like he wanted me to picture it, to feel fear crawl under my skin and force me to run.But I was past fear.I was ready to stand here as long as it took, so far Draven would notice me and come out. Even if it meant becoming a shadow at his gates. Even if it meant being nothing more than a nuisance they couldn’t ignore. As far as the guards would be on patrol tonight, I was also ready to spend the night here with them. I wasn’t leaving. Not when I knew who Ronan was.He never stopped until he got whatever he wanted. He never took no for an answer, not from enemies, not
Bella's POV I began to run as fast as my legs could carry me, even though I was wolfless. I was agile and had always secretly trained myself to be strong, even though I had no wolf. A Luna was supposed to have strength to defend the pack alongside her Alpha. I had done all these so that I could be seen as worthy. A tear fell from my eyes as I thought about it, but I quickly cleaned it, not wanting to give Ronan nor his pack the opportunity of seeing me breaking before them. I continued to run as fast as my legs could take me, my chest heaving, my lungs burning, as I noticed the number of warriors who were following me on Ronan’s orders and his promise. How ironic, none of them recalled that my parents had been one of them. And in the process of defending the pack from the rogues, while they had been fighting at the border, they had lost their lives. None of them wanted to stop or even question Ronan’s orders. Nor was any willing to help me, despite knowing that it would be
