CHAPTER SIX: Bridge of Life

Bruce knelt beside Amara and brushed her hair. He held her cheeks with both hands and put their head together. “Baby, I’ll untie you. Don’t do that again okay?”

She nodded then Bruce untied her. He kissed her forehead and she started crying. She held his hand and put it on her tummy. Bruce leaned down and kissed her belly with tears gliding down his face.

I looked away and swiftly wiped a teardrop on the corner of my eye. I turned on my side when I heard exaggerating blubber. I saw Gugu crying her eyes out while watching Amara and Bruce.

“Can I?” Mark approached Bruce.

Amara crouched and hid her face on Bruce’s chest. She was so scared of him. Mark retreated upon seeing her reaction. He was hurt and sad knowing that the girl who once became his world was frightened of him.

Bruce lend Amara’s hand towards Mark telling her it was alright. Mark gently sat in front of them and brushed the back of her hand using his thumb.
