I spent my Friday at home which Dad insisted for me to rest and weekends with the maids. There are thirty maids all in all in the mansion and they were all devided into three groups, bronze, silver, and gold. I don’t really know why there are such groups in colors that signifies nothing but their level of prestige in the mansion. Maids in bronze and silver stay at a small house at the opposite end of the mansion’s huge backyard. It took me thirty minutes before reaching the place. The house was a bungalow type but with a basement. The bronze maids stay at the basement while the silver maids stay at the ground floor. The design of both spaces are identical. Both basement and ground floor have a wide bedroom space with fifteen double deck beds and a common shower and wash rooms that resemble to that of military base. Each maid have three uniforms in accordance to the color they are in, same color, design, type of fabric, everything. While maids in gold consist only of three persons, th
The maids including the elderlies lowered their head in submission. I was the only one left who remained with chin up meeting my father’s eyes. His dark and dangerous aura reeked out of him. It was so strong that everyone in the room were able to feel it. With a stern look on his face he said, “you are all having fun and you didn’t even invite me?” I blinked multiple times. I couldn’t believe what he said and I didn’t even expect him to say it. The stiff in the air was sliced into pieces by his words and the smile that carved on his lips. The maids were also surprised even the elderlies. The head chef brought another chair and placed it beside me. Now I am sitting between two persons with menacing aura. Their aura combined to mine could match Grip’s deadly aura. Speaking of him. It has only been three days but I already miss him. “Eat more, Serra, so that you could grow some inches.” Dad tapped my head. “Miracles do happen,” he added referring to my height and laughed. Everyone on
“Everything about her. What does she like? Favourite food, color, place. I want to know her more.” My grip on my sweatpants loosened after telling him the question. I was just getting started. I have a lot of questions for him. Morbid drew on his face. He reached for the picture frame that was placed on his desk. He ran his palm down the surface. “I know nothing about her in particular. We live under one roof but we don’t talk much. We were together for more than nineteen years but she’s behind my reach. All I know is she likes jewelries and designer dress, bags, and shoes.” Sadness dulled his eyes. “Her entire life, all I did was feed her and gave her material things. I thought they were enough.” He was speaking from his heart. He was telling me how bad he is as a father. I didn’t just heard him, I felt him. “Every father have different ways on how to show their love for their children,” I said and when he lifted his head, our eyes met. His lips instantly formed a smile. I didn’t
“Where is Lulu, Mandy?” I looked around but she was alone here in our usual place. No Lulu, just her. “She was just here a moment ago.” Mandy looked around as well. “I swear!” she said and raised her right hand. Something was off. I felt like Lulu is avoiding me and hiding something from me. I understand her desire to stay alive and her anger against Kate who murdered her. But dwelling inside Kate’s body and deprived her of life only makes Lulu a murderer, just like Kate that she hated the most. I also told her about my vision of Kate’s sinful body getting eaten by fire but she didn’t seem to care. She also didn’t want me to talk to Kate. She kept on blocking her. Add the darkness that lingering around her. I was not certain if the darkness was because of her devouring Kate’s soul or it was before she died. “Can you really get Lulu out of Kate’s body?” Mandy queried. “Yes, I don’t how this happened. I think my ability upgraded again. I could hold ghosts but they couldn’t do the sa
“Are you going to stay in that position?” He tilted his head in my direction over his shoulder. “You’re making me jealous, Serra,” he said frowning. “Grip!” I uttured his name in excitement and ran in his direction. He let go of his scythe and it vanished before it could even reach the ground. He extended his hands onward welcoming me with open arms. Time around us stopped. I jumped at him. He bent over and caught my thighs in his palms. I wrapped my legs around his waist as we kissed passionately savouring each other’s lips that we longed for days. With eyes closed, he rested his forehead against mine while he strokes his thumb over my cheek. I closed my eyes feeling his presence more. “I thought I am not going to see you again.” “I was allowed to show myself to you once in awhile because the heavens knew that, you not seeing my face for too long will make you sad.” He ran the back of his hand down my cheek. I gently pinched his arm because of what he said. He chuckled and gave m
I flinched when the table started shaking. The thing is, the ground wasn’t. Our eyes followed the paintings hanging on the wall when its glass frame started breaking one after another. Next to the edge of the wall sat a huge antique vase that shattered next after the last painting cracked. I followed the continuous shattering of fragile objects and it lead me out of the room up to the grand staircase. I stood at the bottom-end of the stairs. The elderlies halted behind me. The cracking stopped for a moment and was resumed on the second floor’s photos attached to the wall. I ran the stairs when a scream echoed from upstairs. The scream was painful and torturous. I was brought to a stop at the top-end of the stairs. Dad showed up in front of me wearing a cold expression and blocked my way with his body. He was looking down at me in the eyes. I stared back before walking past him. The scream continued. It was hurting my ears as though the owner of the high pitched scream was asking for
“Elderly Aurellia?” I called as soon as I arrived at the mansion. “Yes, lady Serra?” She appeared from nowhere. "Where is Dianne and Liliane? I don’t see them anywhere inside the mansion.” I queried. The old woman gave me a questioning look. “Who are Dianne and Liliane?” “They are one of the silver maids and my friends.” I told her smiling proudly. “You do not befriend the maids, lady Serra. Not because they are maids but because they will eventually leave.” She gracefully took my things from me and handed them to other maids. The maids brought my things upstairs. “They are working here only for months. How could they leave so soon?” I couldn’t help but to feel sad. The three of us have been close. I’ve spend my weekends with them since I stayed at the university’s dorm on weekdays. Every time I got home, they would be the one who would welcome me. They stayed with me all the time, especially when I was bored. At a short span of time we created a strong bond of friendship. “Pe
“D-Dad?” I whispered. He did not answer. I brought my phone out and opened my flashlight. I directed the light to his face. “Grip? What are you doing here?” He lended me his hand and pulled me up on my feet. “I should be the one asking you that. What are you doing here in the middle of the night? Are you seriously sneaking?” He made me turn my back at him and wiped the dust off my pajamas. “Yes, I am. So will you lower your voice now?” I scolded him in a whispering manner. “Do you think you won’t get caught? Maybe you passed through the elderlies but how about that?” He grabbed my hand and directed my phone’s light to the ceiling. I felt like my effort went to nothing to see the CCTV camera blinking red taunting me. I face-palmed. “You are lucky because you have a handsome boyfriend to the rescue.” He winked at me. “What did you do?” I narrowed my eyes at him. “Don’t looked at me like that. I just saved you from trouble. I moved the camera to somewhere that wouldn’t caught you.”
