Chapter Nine: Captured by the Mafia Don

ANABETH COLLINS

I thought everything was just a nightmare. A dream caused by so much stress. But no. It's too clear for it to be a dream. Uriah's sharp eyes are too real for it to be an illusion of a dream.

I just wanted to go home after a long shift, eat a bowl of noodles and lay in my bed. Is that too much to ask? I didn't ask for any of this!

The surroundings were too quiet. Not a soul or a single car in sight. There's only the faint smell of the burning smell in the air. If I were to scream for help, would anyone even hear me?

I regretted letting my curiosity win. I should have ignored the sound. I should have let my instinct win and run like I was being chased by the devil. For a nurse, I sure have no basic survival instinct!

It was too late to back out now. I have already seen everything. The image of him wearing all black while holding a gun and a dead man on his feet is more clear now. My eyes didn't fail to notice the blood on his chest and neck.

The night was cold, but Uriah's aura is even colder.

I remained frozen on my feet as if I was hit by lightning under my skin. All the hairs on my body stood when I realized that yes, this man–this criminal–remembers me.

"Shit!" I cursed and backed out slowly when I finally regained my composure. I didn't waste any time and ran with all the strength I had in me.

"Anabeth!" He shouted from behind me. The sound of my name on his lips sent a terrifying shiver down my spine.

I didn't look back or let my steps falter because I know that the moment I do, he will kill me. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to run far when he grabbed me. His grip was fast and strong and he didn't leave any room for me to fight. I pleaded as if he would hear my plea.

"Let me go, Uriah!" I screamed, fighting against his strong hold. I tried to kick him, punch him and claw at his face, but he only accepted it all. He only stared deep into my eyes and whispered in a deep voice.

"Now that I found you again, I am not letting you go." He repeated his earlier words.

His voice warmed my skin, not because of anger but for fear of what he'll do to me. Another part of me felt a strange emotion towards the man, but I refused to entertain it.

Before I could respond, he yanked his neck tie and used it to cover my eyes. I gasped a little, feeling the rough yet expensive cloth preventing me from seeing. He guided me somewhere without saying anything. I couldn't fight him and I couldn't find my voice no matter how much I wanted to scream.

A part of me wants to know the truth about this man. The man that once held my body possessively like I was his. The twin of the man I held in my heart for a long time.

The car was moving fast. I could feel every turn, break, the continuous whispers of the men around me.

"We're safe." I heard Uriah say.

A moment later, I felt him carry me out of the car. He was so close that I could smell the strong aroma of his perfume which was a mixture of dark spice and musk. The smell was strong, but his presence was even more so.

When the blindfold was removed, I found that I was in a spacious and fancy bedroom. There were lots of books on the shelf, guns on the other that made me shiver in fear. The smell of the room was similar to his.

Uriah was sitting in the arm hair, still wearing his dark coat. He stared at me without a hint of a smile on his face, but he wasn't angry either. He was just... staring.

"Where the hell am I?" I demanded, attempting to act brave but my voice still gave me away.

"Welcome to my home," he replied calmly. "From now on, you are not allowed to leave this house."

"What?! Are you crazy? You're a criminal! I saw you kill someone!"

He grinned, as if he was entertained by my reaction. "I know. That's why you will stay here where I can see you."

"You can't lock me up—"

"Actually, I can and I will. Do you have any idea what I can do, Anabeth?" He stood up, his steps were heavy as he approached. "You saw things that you shouldn't. Don't worry, I won't hurt you. I'll protect you. But in return... you are mine now."

I stepped away from him. "What will you do to me? Rāpe me? Torture me?" I spat angrily, my body shaking in fear.

"But I didn't touch you, remember?" He stepped closer, closing the distance between us. "But be honest, that night, you wanted me to, right? You craved for my twin's touch even if you didn't know it was me."

I swallowed, unable to answer. Not because it was true, but because I didn't want to admit it to myself.

He stopped, walking away from me and I sighed in relief. He went to his desk and pulled out a folder.

"Based on your uniform, you are a nurse, but that is enough for me. From now on, you are a doctor."

I frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Congratulations, Anabeth. You're now the official doctor of the King Mafia."

My mouth fell with a sharp gasp. "Excuse me?!"

"Don't worry, you won't be a slave here. You will have your own room, food, and security. You belong to us now."

He turned his back on me and went to the door. "You should rest. Tomorrow, you will have a patient early in the morning. My men need someone like you they can trust. I trust no one, Anabeth, but with you, I can always make an exception."

"But why me? Why does it have to be me? Don't I have the right to refuse? I have a life too." I asked, almost a whisper.

He stopped in the doorway, silence lingering in the air between us for a second before he looked at me again.

"Because you saw the dark side of me and you didn't run fast enough, bunny."

When he left, I fell on the soft bed, my hands were still shaking. Everything feels like a bad dream–a nightmare.

Is there no way for me to escape Uriah King?

Chapter Eleven: Back in the Devil's ArmsANABETH COLLINSI can't take it anymore. Every night, I am filled with constant fear for my safety. My only companion is myself and the silence surrounding me in this mansion. Yes, I'm alive, yes I am treated fairly, and yes I am treating the injured members, but this isn't the life I deserve. This isn't what I dreamed of. And so even if it's dangerous, even if it might cost my life, I took the chance I had and escaped. It was the first time I left the mansion after a week, and I was in the car being transported to a hospital to get everything I needed. I was only accompanied by one of Uriah's men, and I took advantage of that by running away from him. Luck was on my side because the street was filled with people and I lost him in the middle. I looked over my shoulder every two seconds to make sure he wasn't following me, and sighed in relief when I was sitting in a bus that will take me home. I felt sorry for Liam because Uriah will surely

Chapter Ten: The Mafia DoctorANABETH COLLINS I lost count of how many times I tried to escape this hell I was forced to live in. I tried running away when I thought no one was around, but one of Uriah's men appeared out of thin air. I tried playing sick, thinking they would take me to the hospital, but they called a doctor instead. I tried everything I could but nothing was working and all my hopes of escaping this place crumbled to the ground. My first night in the mansion was full of anxiety. I don't even know how I slept knowing I was captured against my will. Maybe because my body was just really tired, but my mind never stopped working. I thought of Uriah and those eyes of his. How he uttered the words 'You're mine now' as if it was a warning. The next morning, a knock on the door woke me up. The door slowly opened and a man with a buzz cut with sharp eyes entered. His steps were confident and not hesitant, making me think he wasn't just anyone."Good morning, Doc. My name

Chapter Eight: I Can't Let You Go NowURIAH KINGYou will hear nothing around the abandoned warehouse but screams of pain, and cries of mercy. How long have I been hearing them? I can't even remember anymore. I guess I grew up hearing them and I grew tired of them, and eventually felt nothing altogether. "Please, Uriah! I am begging you! I have a wife and children waiting for me at home! I will never do it again! I swear to God!" Mauricio, one of the Don, my uncle's security, cried desperately, looking pathetic with his face covered with his own tears and snot. A cold smirk left my lips as I held the thin stick in my lips, exhaling the toxic smoke. "Come on now. Don't swear to God. God didn't tell you to betray your boss, the one who feeds your family, and sell information to the Italians, did he?" "I-I was just desperate! My son was sick and he needed immediate medical care, Uriah!"Killian, who was the one doing the torturing, let out a cold laugh. "Būllshit. Do you really think

Chapter Seven: Death on Your DoorstepANABETH COLLINS "How are you feeling today, Daisy?" I asked the sweet lady while checking her vital signs. She was admitted here last week because of a stomachache that later turned out to be cancer. She reminded me of my late grandma I also lost to pancreatic cancer. Daisy is a sweet old lady and her family loves her. "I feel like I can leave anytime soon, dear." Daisy replied with a smile and I smiled back, noting her blood pressure, temperature, abd heart and pulse rate. "Don't say such things like that, Daisy. You still have a granddaughter you will see." I tried to comfort her although we all know the truth. Her cancer is progressing fast and unfortunately, she's at Stage 4, and Doctor Mike already told her family to spend as much time with her as they can. People deemed nurses and doctors as heartless, but no. We can feel emotion and we can emphatize with the patients, we just can't show it, and sometimes, you just really get used to it.

He already caught me in an awkward situation. Should I really admit that I was supposed to seduce his twin?!Realization dawned on his face and I saw his eyes reflecting disappointment when the light seeping through the curtain hit them, but it was quickly gone that I had to ask myself if I really saw it. I thought he'd give up and get off me, but my breath hitched when his face was suddenly in front of me. I can smell his aftershave and he smelled of cigarettes and mint. I am often turned off by the smell, but why does he smell so good? Why do I feel the urge to close my eyes and bury my nose in his skin?"We share the same face, don't we? You can pretend I am him," he said, his warm breath fanning my face. His fingertip was suddenly on my skin, and I gasped softly. "I can pretend to be him and you can moan his name. I don't mind
